hero rank: 4
glad rank: 2
area: eu
min day per week: 3
characters: ranger / warrior
character builds: rao / steady / yaa
special requirements:
- have played in 1000+ guild before.
- Time of play 9pm UK time
- Sunday 9:00 pm - mandatory
Um you can go to team-iq.com and teamquitter.com and guild-hall.net guilds post the exact requirements they are looking for there so why should Anet have to do it because some people might be to lazy to click a few buttons on the web browsers?

Although there are a number of guilds that are looking for members who post on certain forums, it would also be helpful to have a registry of players who are lfg. It would be more difficult because people guild hop and the database would be much larger, but it would be very convenient for guilds who want to see who is a free agent and what is on their resume. It saves the trouble of a player looking for a guild having to constantly refresh recruitment threads and post applications on many forums. I'm not sure how feasible this would be, but it would certainly help those unattached players and guilds to hook up with one another.

Join a new/noob guild looking to just GvG a lot. Rather then try and ask or read what to do, by simply playing hundreds of games you'll learn a lot faster what needs to be done. It's pretty much what all good guilds did to get good, just play and play. Now with obsmode, if you can't play some nights, you can still watch, which is almost as good.

heres a tip - watch observer mode and study the people playing professions you like and try and think of WHY they did what they did. people in top 100 are not perfect and make mistakes too but usually they have a reason for what they do. Also a lot of good players do watch observer mode, they just hide in the background... be friendly and one of them might come along and talk to you. be friendly to everyone because who knows who is in a really good guild or not. If you are friendly to someone you saw in PvE or in an alliance battle and it turns out they are in a good guild they will be more likely to give you the time of day then if you were a flaming 1337 noob. when you are in gvg's be sportsmanlike and make contacts with good players you have faced. A good tactic is to play with one of these contacts in RA and AB and PvE when they are not gvging so they get to know you. try and get them on a vent server with you so they know your personality...after you have known them for a while ask them if they can spare 10 minutes - 15 minutes to try you out to join their guild.

I just want to give my 2 cents to the OP:

First, dont want everything from the start. If you apply to the "elite" you will fail... accept a mediocore or maybe even a crap guild that plays... that last word is the key here.. play, play, play.

Try to get a group together you really know and like..create friends. do this either in PvE or in areas like PvP... In our guild we had some very skilled ppl, which where invited to various higher ranked guilds, they refused because of this friendship. Be careful with this... you should not hold your friends back...but should offer them something

We came from very far...some months ago an officer of mine started a topic here on how to improve. We struggled to get even in the top 1000 and you know when this changed? when we started playing. We said to each-other: we can observe, train in TA or do what we want... but we wont get there. Cut the crap, talk over TS, call, spike like hell and play. Screw the ladder...

From that moment we began a shallow rise... first to the top 1000, then to the 700'sh and ending up at the 400'sh making JR scream for mammy when Frozen Flame owned us... at least we made him sweat with our spikes

Still this is nothing compared to many.. but now our connections are widely spread...friendlists with ppl where you can guest, ask for help or just talk for fun with. I know its not the fastest road to take..but it shows that ppl with some skill and a lot of dedication can create a team that plays daily... and in our case a team of friends as well!

I have a questions for all the top 50 guilds.....Is your whole roster composed of people 21++ or are there college and notably high school students on your roster?

Right now we are straddling the top 50 and i would say half or more of the players are college students. I think there are at least two high schoolers. When we had to actively recruit, I remember asking for 18+ becasue I didn't want all the scrubby little kids straight out of romper room to come bother me about joining. Really if you can fit the play schedule and can act in a mature enough(it's still a game) fashion it shouldnt be a problem. I should also point out that DeeR is/was full of youngins and usually find themselves high on the ladder...

A lot of the basic skills in gvg can be learned from the arenas and HA. From there, move on to try and join a guild that tries to stay competitive (500ish) and learn the basic tactics of gvg. Encourage the team to do better (and hopefully they will) and try to get the guild to top 300. From there, look for top 200 guilds that you can try out for and if they think you're good, then you're in

Six members of QQ's core are college age (18-21) and two are older, with the oldest being 27. College is just very convenient because it leaves people with a lot of free time.

What a crew.
