You need to learn the micro for the standard builds you will be running in a PvP environment. Unless you're exprienced at PvPing, you need a bit of time learning the details of the skills on your bar. RA is fine for practicing the micro on many builds, but don't build for RA. Some stuff like wards requires observing games to watch positioning.

Look for pugs and don't quit when things go badly. Focus on mastering your own micro and positioning. If you're doing a good job people will notice and start PMing you to play.

Haha worked for me. Helps if you have a pretty decent title so you can display that one. If you want to do this, go WoH monk, as that is easiest and aslong as you all don't die, people will not ask questions.

In terms of guilds, go for a GvG guild, as most guilds prefer to GvG, but will bust in the odd HA whenever. I used to be in a good (cough) GvG guild, so whenever there was only 6 odd people on, we just did some HA

Also try friends. Get a group of your friends who live around you (same time zone), then just make a build, and keep on going at it. Even if you only make it to round 2 or 3, there's nothing stopping you from going in again. The fame adds up very quickly like this. Plus you only need to have 5 mates

Once you get some fame under your belt, you can join the r3+ groups, which are abit more serious. I wouldnt say they are better and have more of a chance of making it to HoH, but atleast you can be pretty comfortable that they will know what they are doing.

Good luck!!

the bigest problem with the new people that want to pvp is that they only have one campagn (most of them only have nightfall). They can only use a limeted skillset... if u want to start with pvp u need to be able to unlock all the skills in the game. So u can take the best skills that are out there.

I'm currently taking my second account into HA to try to earn rank3, and I'm shocked at how poor some of the players are. When people that I pvp with aren't around, I'll run with any group, and yesterday it took me about an hour to earn 2 fame.

Does rank play a difference? Yes, it does. People that have rank have seen what works and what doesn't work in HA, know which skills go with which builds and how to play those builds, know how to run certain maps, etc. As other people have stated already, if I have the chance to join a ranked group over an unranked group, I'll definitely choose a ranked group. If you feel otherwise, then that's your loss.

Yes I think this will be very easy if all my friends play WoW:TBC instead of GW. And I'm the only one that plays GW in my class. And all my other friends does either Alcohol or WoW or doesn't play computer at all.

I call BS, thats not because of rank its because of pugs,

You dont expect to go on a 20 fame run with pugs, no vent no ts or dumbasses, if you want to have a good fame run you join a good HA guild and you either order people on vent or get some people who know what their doing on vent.

I have friends who are mighty champion/fierce champion and arent even r5, are you gonna say they are noobs ?

Im learning alot to, i would recommend joining a pvp guild for sure.

If ur new to pvp, no matter if you have 3k hours and a 10mill exp char you will have a little problems in the start - get to know the 'pvp-feeling'
It's a lot different than pve, roughly said the enemies think

Like others have said, get a friend list.

Don't think of HA as "I'm playing this to get a bambi". Of course it should be in the back of your head, but just that - back of your head. Think of HA as like playing a fun GVG. The reason is you'll be so hung up on what rank to get, you'll get frustrated if you spend a few hours with little fame.

When you do get a good friend list, good at the game - fame will come fast (well to rank3 anyways). People might disagree with that and think you should expect to bust your balls to get R3 =P.

Try not to rage groups, even when they suck... You could do something like infusing, reason is - people of the opposite team notice a good infuser, they might then want you to play on their team (ok it's unlikely they'll ask but it'll still help).

If you are get rank12, and then you start to learn to infuse, rank12 groups will be pissed off that you are bad; however, if you start off infusing, the groups won't be good enough to notice it so much.

Make the enemies skill on your screen REALLLLLY big. So if you have to interupt, you can see it as soon as they start to cast.

Interupt things in PVE and play PVP builds in PVE (when you bother to PVE that is). I'm not saying that as to like make you a great PVP'er, it just helps you get used to what buttons to press.

So they help RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOup the system and then complain it's RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up? Sounds a logical thing to do. Of course they won't be elitist or even remotely, because they arn't elite.

Rank doesn't mean anything except the fact you may have a lot of skill in HA, not time spent in HA.

I've seen many r3's-r5's play much better than higher ranked people.

IMO find smart people who understand the game, not whoever have the skills to play a bar.

I'm r8 and rather play with lower ranked people r6 and below, because we all know how r9+people are arrogant and ignorant if something goes wrong and quit after 1 run.

Of course this is my experience.

oh and btw keep guild hopping if you wanna riase your rank, learn new things from new guilds everyday !

My advice would be just to keep pugging and get on vent and find some players you really enjoy playing with and put them on your friends list and just play with them repeatedly and eventually you will build up your fame and you will be increasing your experience and skill at the game along with the friends whose company you enjoy.

way i learnt.. Play lots of RA, this how i learnt how to play warrior, monk, ranger.. i learnt how the classes worked, i remember running a mo/w with sprint and other stuff like this which at the time i thought was the pwn machiene, i even remember... taking a monk with backfire into tombs...just takes dedication, time, and to get a lot of friends, you need to stop playing with teams that rage if you don't kill ghosts fast, or if you lose in underworld,

i feel really sorry for a lot of teams, who just get Rolled in under 1 miniute and then someone rages,

Nice and Congrats Coloneh! It was hard for me to leave my long time PvE guild but when I decided to go back to PvP I knew I had to join a PvP guild. So I add all my friends to my friends list (still keep in touch) and wondered off to find a PvP guild. I Know Iam having more fun in PvP cause I did this

Good Hunting

No. Stay with one guild and play with them all the time. Guild wars is half teamwork.
