I wouldn't mind a return to 8v8... but then again, if it means the return of iway, bloodspike, and probably even Searing Flames revisited... nah.

Yet it'd be interesting how NF would've changed the face of HA if it still were 8v8.

Perhaps revert it to 8v8 for one 'fun' weekend (NO double fame this time), and then let ANet decide?

Is this current 6 vs 6 HA and old 8 vs 8 tombs, or just party numbers?

why people keep talking about iway and bloodspike as if they were problems in 8v8? any decent balanced team could beat like 90% of the iway and bloodspike teams...

Why do you assume the problem is not being able to beat them?

polls on free to join forums = reliable source of market information?

The best thing to happen is for Anet to read ALL the opinions and arguments being posted about HA (which they are doing)... and for them to decide what the best course of action is themselves. Polls are what caused this mess in the first place... lets not make the same mistake again.

Its as if you dont think its pretty obvious what the general consensus is... one look at the HA thread and a 12 year old could work it out.

Be patient its not long to wait now.

I don't play HA anymore, but I voted 6v6 just to annoy you.

QFT.

one reason might be because people dont like seeing the same build over and over or because noobs playing iway beat noobs playing balenced. (not trying to imply anything)

First reason, obviously. IWAY isn't hard to beat at all. But the fact that some people got rank 9-12 by just spamming c+spacebar... Hate it. I prefer balanced, or different kind of spike teams (preferably not bloodspike, that's quite boring. I like rangerspike more, since you actually need to get positioned, and placement is ftw then)

Can you imagine, btw.... Iwayers with Steady Stance+Drunken/Desperation Blow? Not to mention Critical Chop.

Yes, now they can be even more mindless!

Anyways, I'd still like to see my suggestion be realised. 8v8 weekend, then let ANet decide. If all the old FotM builds come back, then I'd rather have they'd keep it at 6v6. But I'm quite sure people will try SF even more.

As opposed to 6v6 with oh lets see... searing flames, jagged bones way and uh.... oh ya thats about it.

Sure IWAY and b-spike were pretty popular in in 8v8 but you still saw more variety. And even if you didn't (I know I personally saw more variety but w/e) then its not like theres any less gimmicks in 6v6, so thats not a valid reason to keep 6v6.

I'm not even going to get into 1 of my rants about IWAY not being c+space, especailly coming from someone that thinks r-spike takes a lot of skill. I've R-Spiked with Deer and well.... whatever, whole other discussion. Not going to take this one off-topic. PM me if you want to argue about it.

And wait, let me get this straight. You prefer spike and balanced builds (which are almost non-existant in 6v6) yet you want 6v6 over 8v8? You lost me there....

Also steady stance->drunken/desperate is no where near as powerful as old IWAY. Critical Chop is a nice skill but its not like its going to revolutionize IWAY or anything...

SF isn't that big of a deal either.............. theres this revolutionairy idea called spreading out. Not sure if you've heard of it...

Well at least in 8v8 you could at least get counters to those and still be able to beat balanced builds.
In 6v6 if you get counters to a FOTM you get pwned by another FOTM. It's FTW !

Unfortunately, there's no way to screen or limit voters to a specific population. However, the majority were clamoring for a poll and so I posted one. I think the problems in HA were numerous, but not directly a result of 8v8. The win condition of an altar map is conducive to making the strongest build to maintain that win condition and skip or pray on other maps with different conditions. If the HoH map had a different or rotating win condition every round, we'd see more variability in viable builds that would be capable of meeting the win conditions on several map types.

QFT. What would HA look like if the last map was a relic run? :x

[BRB] ran Fear Me/Steady Stance in a GvG map that resembles all maps of HA (Burning Map) and raped bad and good teams alike. so watch out for that

[SNA] ran 6 Searing flames Elementalist/Assassins with feigned neutrality (i think they mod it with a mesmer or idk but still overloaded with ele dmg) and destroyed teams too. dont forget the arcane mimicry, elemental attune Searing Eles of the Spearmen. and their home map was, you guessed it right, Burning Map, HA-like map. watch out for that too.

don't forget [Wa], mesmer spike (and it's variation e.g. OG spike, obsidian spike, mixed spike, invoke lightning spike, some kind of new spike but still spike, etc). woot

variety. 3 strong builds waiting to sploited in 8vs8 HA.

Bad News: expect the same people who will whine coz all they will see are these builds. 3 unique strong builds that are going to be destroyed sooner or later by nerfs coz the same whiny people (omg, my balanced team is destroyed by a build with 4+ copies of 1 character) will ask for nerfs.

Funny part is, as one person has posted, people who don't play HA are screwing with the poll on voting 6v6 or whatnot, and 8v8 is still winning by a landslide. Again, as other people have said, don't trust the poll too much, look at before and after districts and those replies on the share your thoughts thread.

I was one of the first to vote on this poll, but forgot to make a post explaining my vote. I voted for the return of 8v8, but honestly think like dansamy said that this is the really one of the lesser issues plauging the HA gametype.

When HA was 8v8, I only played balanced pressure builds with 2 warriors or 1 warrior and 1 assassin (with an adrenal spike capability). The builds I designed always had a lot of anti-spike tools that were flexible enough to also limit pressure against pressure teams or help tear through defenses against the defense loaded spike teams once you had them playing defensively instead of spiking often. I favored the introduction of 6v6, because I knew it would highly reduce the number of spike teams running around.

So why did I vote for the return of 8v8 when I was one of the strong proponents of 6v6 in the first place? My opinion has changed now that I realize that whenever I had a strong team we simply did not lose to spike teams on relic runs or 1v1 maps. In addition, ever since the NPCs were limited to 2 per team I have returned to HA. In that short amount of time I have played a hex pressure build and very nice spike build with an axe warrior designed by Zui. Even though I was only monking for the spike build, I was shocked to find that I actually enjoyed playing spike as it provided a completely different set of challenges that your team needs to overcome. I feel that bringing back 8v8 will increase the number of spike teams playing back to 50 to 60% instead of the 5 to 10% I have seen in 6v6. But the main reason I voted for the return of 8v8 is that I suspect it will lead to an increase in the player base for HA.

It was the players that made those builds do well, IMO. There was easilly a hundred guilds trying the Steady Stance IWAY in GvG but only BRB did that well (and still didn't do as well as Cute/MATH back in the days, meaning old IWAY > steady stance like I originally said), same with SNA/Spearmen with SF, Wa with spiritual pain, etc...

Sure, 8v8 may not be flowing with variety either but from my experience there was still more of it than in 6v6 (keywords: my experience, others experiences may vary...). Its not really that though, I just had a lot more fun playing 8v8 than I did 6v6, thats the main reason I want it back
