Yes kinda agree with come on sort of thing, but ive played with ruen, some mini quite a few times and each time they either use ts or vent. I also remember playing with some luna when castle still was active and they also use vent.....

Is Vent absolutely necessary: No.

Should you get it if you can: Yes.

If you're in a good, experienced group, you should all know your roles well enough that you know what you're doing and how to adapt to certain situations.

However, if you're in a PuG, you should most definitely use/require Vent (which is the ironic part). I always hate it when we designate a caller and then four other people decide to start calling because someone is on them or they found the healer and then it gets all confused as to whom to target.

I will say though that Vent / TS has become a requirement for more serious gamers and guilds just because you'll find yourself in a bad situation if you're against, say, a spiker team with it.

My Dad has a Proxy server set up at home, and is really security concious when it comes to the internet, and he also says that programmes like Vent use up alot of Bandwidth, and so he doesn't let me use it. I'm r3... and I've used vent for one battle... but then again that was during prophecies[no it wasn't iway].... haha! so who knows... I'd say its beneficial... but a group that doesn't require it can be just as sucessful as one that does... I've made it to HoH numerous times w/o vent{that was at the beginning of NF}.... So there is no proven advantage... but if you are just a mediocre player I would recommend it....

The problem is, because most people do not feel the need to use their brain, or they do not know how to think (not quite sure which) sometimes you have to think for them. For example, you're fighting against two teams, for me it's fairly obvious to look on the radar and NOT get stuck in the middle of them and get ganked; however, for other players, they need reminding on vent.

Or how about when you're RC, someone is bitching at you for not removing blind and you guessed it - he's stuck in a dust trap.

There is so many things that can go wrong. So many people in this game do not know how to play their profession, just run the bar the leader says to run, they don't try to think, they don't try to make their own build, they don't look around in the game.

Because there is so many things that can go wrong, someone stands in blind trap, over extends, gets stuck inbetween two teams and hundreds of other things, it is sadly sometimes worth while to use vent. And for spiking, yes, but really it shouldn't be needed all that often; however, people make it so.

People are retarded, why do you think they lived for so long believing the world was flat? I mean jesus christ, look out the window you can see the moon and stars are round but no, that's too obvious. With that in mind, and Einstines statement "two things are infinite, humans stupidity and the universe, though I'm not so sure about the latter" if you want to do well at something, you have to tell everyone else what to do. The best way to do that is with vent, because people don't look at the chat enough while playing.

So realisticly, yes, theoretically, no.

Also, people tend to listen to voice more. I was in a group yesturday, better players than my team, better caller than my team. Etc etc. I told them which necro to hit, and they said ''we can't kill them''. He won't f**ing die don't waste your time, run a relic!! So I'm like, this target will die, attack it. I spam ''trust me'' because I know they won't see chat unless I spam o.O. They don't. So I pm the fire ele in group (was my friend) to attack with me. Necro dies^^. Now had I of spoke on mic and called the caller a f*cking noob and stuff, then I probably could of got them to attack the targets I wanted.

You get zero respect from the majority of the game if you do not talk on mic, and that's quite important when you want to get invited to lots of groups later on.

Vent is probably more important than ever. Kill count maps are all about team positioning. The new HoH conditions mandate spliting like never before. Plus, how else can you laugh at your bud that calls a "rez orb" a "relic" for the 12th time

It uses around 9megabites to use if that gives you any idea of how much bandwidth it uses

Blind on 1! Blind on 1! Oh wait, I'm talking to myself.

If you plan on being competitive in PvP, especially in GvG and HA, voicecomm is essential. If you're a monk and not using vent/ts, try typing "Need a little help here back at the GL." By the time it comes up in chat, you're probably dead.

QFT.

I usually play burning arrow ranger in GvG, as flagger & ganker. We were playing GvG and all of a sudden i couldnt talk anymore on vent. I could still hear what the rest was saying but could not respond.
At one point i went for the HP shrine (isle of wurms) with the thief, and started capping. The other guild send a 3 man gank for the shrine, and before i could type "need help at shrine, 3 man gank" the thief was dead and i lost half my HP...

The other day we completely lost vent in the middle of a GvG. Was quite an experience actually, had to completely alter the way we play "on the fly" without instruction from anyone, not helped by the fact that the other team were running a heavy split. We won, but it was much closer than it should have been I think.

I think it would be a good exercise for newer guilds to do this every now and then for training, as it sure made me pay attention to minor details

As for the normal course of events, a team with voice comms will have a massive, massive advantage over one without. Its not auto win for sure, but in competitive play you need to load all the dice in your favour as much as possible

To answer your question, it depends how good your HA group is and what build they are running. The more experienced the group is, the less communication is required.

In your case, since you don't have factions, in a PvE guild, and even if your your dad is on your back-- I suggest that you use vent bro. (unless you have really good friends that know exactly what they are doing)

Once youve used vent in a team were EVERY member has a mic, you will realize just how usefull vent is.

Your question is quite vague bro, so what about the headsets? haha..but if you are referring to the cost of a headset-- it varies by brand and quality. Nothing is free, but what you pay for is what you get.

What about headsets.. lol.... they are not giving them away for free with your guild wars copy, so you have to ask your mommy to buy you one I guess.

I hate pugs for the fact that so many don't talk. When they do I can become a bit of a chatterbox but that's fun, people who stay silent piss me off and make me feel like an idiot being the only one voicing.

Nurse, your avatar is horrible.

I'm naturally a bit shy and will never talk on vent unless I'm familiar with who I'm talking to or there's something important that needs to be said. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong by doing that, as when I join pugs in HA it's not with a goal of socializing but to win halls. However, other people (like you) may see HA as a joke now and play just to play with other people who share common interests or whatnot. Regardless, my money, my game, and I will still hold the belief that I'm not required in any bit to commit to making someone else's online experience more enjoyable.
