From the point of view of a retired gvg'er:

Seems like having two copies of SoA isn't needed, as uncoordinated monks may easily cast over another and waste 5 energy and the skill recharge. Having SH may be an alternative. Also prot spirit is a much needed skill on the monks, since it saves the team from the catapult in some maps, and is generally better in GvGs. Ether lord also seems like a not-so-good energy denial method and energy burn would be a better choice. On the runner, I'm not sure how good ether prodigy is now, as I'd rather run GoLE and something like Icy Shackles for a hex snare. Also on 2-3 man splits, you might not always want a monk, since your main team can get destroyed.

"Turn off monks". Huh? I don't even know what you're saying so I'll just say:

(#1) Both of your monks should have a condition removal spell ALWAYS, regardless of another team member running Draw Conditions (and "It's just a flesh wound." is just an Elite Draw Condi), and (#2) Divert Hexes >> Expel Hexes, and (#3) Dismiss Condition gives a straight-up heal anyway when your target is enchanted and you've got an Aegis chain going here...

No GoH on the first monk??? Other choices you made in that new listing are poor too. But, like, it's your build I guess? Have fun losing.

Uhhh...EP/DD when under Mantra of Recovery is actually 4+ negative pips of regen on your target. Without even taking Shame into consideration, Mind Wrack is worthwhile here.
My argument is more that the energy denial is OK, but you're unlikely to be triggering on anyone else but the target and there's a list of better skills to be thinking about, especially under MOR.

The original poster wanted the Paragon to have defensive support. I think it's the best build possible for what was called for. He still contributes solid DPS - constant 25% IAS with 12-spec spear, Anthem of Flame, spreads bleeding, and will usually have the energy to use Spear of Lightning on recharge.
Again, my argument was more that yeah, you could have an OK defensive paragon, but it's not really worth it in comparison to a command/spear paragon. If you want some defence, stick purge signet on him. Taking up 2/3 skill slots just for what is really low level healing and energy regen isn't worth it. imo ofc -.-

This build simply does not have a realistic solo offensive split. For a defensive split, however, it performs fine. You can quite easily send one of your monks back to help the Elem when needed, because of having Blinding Surge and the Paragon in your main group. If you want to try and actually kill the ganker, the Hammer Warrior + Elem works too. His Healing Signet plus the Elem's support is enough to ensure that he survives.
Defensive split is enough to stop them beating on your base, etc, but the offensive split is an entirely different animal. If they come with a heavy hex team and some wards melee pressuring is just a pain in the ass, add melee spiking as well... Even if your removal is good spirit/priceoffailure /wards from experience are solved a lot easier by just running off.

If I was to not bother with offensive splitting I'd want a lot more damage, maybe something like:

As to the OPs latest update, I'd agree with the last two posts. 4 energy aria of zeal. rwar.

Eeeek, sorry, but I don't like that build of yours.

And a defensive Paragon can definitely be worth it, for sure.
