Default Crippling Shot

I decided to make a new thread on this, since the other topic was leading onto something different. Slap me if I'm wrong.
Crippling Shot
Energy: 10.
Recharge: 1 Second.
Line: Marksmanship.
Description: If Crippling Shot hits, your target becomes "Crippled" for 1...7seconds. This attack cannot be "blocked".
All I suggest changing is the energy cost from 15e to 10e. My reason being, with skills like Mending touch having a strong presence in the metagame and anti-crippled Mods/Runes, I believe this change would be justified.

Agree/Disagree?

Thanks,
Program~

I agree. Crip Shot and Pin Down both need to be brought down to 10 energy.

One part of me says 'It used to be 10 energy, and it was overpowered.'
Then another part of me says 'Dude, we didn't have Dismiss and Mending Touch back then' and I think 'duh'

So I think it's justified.

^ Yeah, kinda the same feeling. Still think mending touch needs a tweak on recharge even if this skills is changed.

Cripshot's fine as it is, it's Mending Touch that needs balancing. I think the casting time should be increased to 1 second, too.

On Mending Touch:

The description says it's a spell, but I've noticed it's affected by expertise. Huh?

All "touch" skills are effected by expertise, spells or not.

Agreed with that.

The thing is, if you lower the ecost to 10E, then Cripshot becomes REALLY spammable again. And then if you DON'T have Mending Touch, it becomes overpowered, which leads to rock-paper-scissors game play which is bad. When a skill is too good and counters a wide range of skills too well (conditions), the solution is NOT to buff what it counters but to nerf the skill.

It's like Divert Hexes countering hexes too hard and then they made hexes REALLY powerful (SV, RM before nerf...), which lead to 'if you don't have Divert, you have no hope to beat hex teams head on' -> rps

I think that Cripshot could use a 1s activation time buff, THAT would be good. It wouldn't make it more spammable (well, SLIGHTLY more) but it'd be faster to catch targets. Along with a Mending Touch nerf (personally i'd like to see it 5/1/6. To remove 2 conditions AND heal yourself, it's worth 1s cast time. And it'd settle a lot of problems in skirmishes cause 1s cast time becomes fairly easily interruptable), i think that Cripshot would be interesting again.

but knowing ANet, they'll buff Crippling Shot to 10s recharge and nerf Mending Touch instead of just doing one or the other. kind of like when they buffed Hexes and almost made Divert Hexes a 2sec cast.

How does Crip-Shot need any change at all? It has consistantly seen play even after the last nerf to it where it became 15e. We still run a Crip-Shot Ranger right now, seems fine.

Yes, but you also only beat Grandmas and little girls. And bunny rabbits, I guess.

EDIT: But, really, it's funny to hear that. I haven't seen Crip Shot used in a LOOONG time.

I see it all the time too....

I mean, burning arrow is stronger but that's because you generally have another way to snare on a two person split so it's not as necessary.

Id also like to see the energy cost reduced to 10, with the recharge increased slightly (3-4 seconds)

I think the only skills I never dshoted were skills like PD on a mesmer.
Mending touch is dshot food to any decent ranger.

By the way, reviving old threads is not cool.
