Don't be silly Valkier, Meow don't run that crap. They run Elementalist pressure builds, wherein the elementalists co-ordinate their Searing Flames so that they cast them at the same time. It's a completely legit build I tell you!

Capes mean nothing.

they would probably get pwned by vD had they run a balanced build, thus they propably run a lame build...not that it matters. EW run foc spike in some finals....lame lame lame

We havent been able to get in touch with your tourny leader at all (no name to go by as our Leader is Awol) So doesn't take a genious to figure out we lose and they win. Bit unfortunate as I really wanted to play Call.
Yeah, unfortunately that's how it turned out. I was really looking forward to playing you guys too, sorry about that

Anyway, for Call's final round we're facing Brewed To Perfection, a guild a hundred-fifty or so ranks below us. Should be evenly-matched if our 220+ GvG's each mean anything. 519 GvG's total between us o_O

If we win, we're in the running for a bronze cape, though it's unlikely we'll get it based on opponent match win percentage. Still a chance though

Is that a joke?

Anyway, EW > MH 2:1
Game 1 - we run Frozen with a fairly generic split, they run 3 Aegis, Ward Foes, Shields Up, SoD, dervishes - We get a few NPCs down, get a few kills on them. VoD comes, both of us wipe the others NPCs, but we can't manage to get any further kills on their team. They eventually break us, EW 1, MH 0.

Game 2 - They run Burning, they have no real interrupts, although they do have several Purge Sigs. We run a dual Migraine, dual Derv build & pretty much destroy them. We play carefully to avoid any extreme RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOups - they make a run towards the back door, we push in & score immediate kills in their base. Match ends around 18 min. for an MH flawless.

Game 3 - We keep nearly the same build as game 2, they run 3 monks, a ranger, Searing ele, MoR mesmer, YAA war & Melandru derv on Corrupted. They split the ranger & war for most of the match, but they just stagnate at our back door vs. monk & ranger. Our main split collects a number of boosts & scores quite a few kills. VoD comes, we each wipe each others NPCs again 8v8 @ center, and each score a few skills on the other team. Again, they have multiple Purge Sigs, as well as fast cast Remove Hex from the mesmer, and we simply can't get our Migraines to stick where they need to. From 20 minutes on, Phel & I are both pretty much bottomed out on energy and are simply focus swapping for almost every cast, waiting on GoLE recharges, and trying to catch up. Around 30 minutes we eventually break entirely, and our lord falls soon after.
Final, 2:1 EW.

Yeah, for next tournament, ArenatNet should just make a poll where people can vote who the best teams are and hand over present and cape trim based on that.

THAT would prevent "lame" build from ever making it through.

Disregard of course the fact they those "lame" team "could" have been winning because they both outplanned (choosing a build is part of the game) and outplayed their opponent (execution still matters)

EW and iB ran Feast of Corruption spike and iQ played turtle and few gimmicks too, so those should also be permanently hated by the community btw..

This is silly, congratz to the winners, "better chance next time" to the looser, no comment for the sore loosers.

In defense of meow, if I would lose to vD with a balanced build but I could beat them with 6 searing eles I think I know what I would do.

Thats why you havent played gvg in like a month.

Yeah meow have got through and they prob dont care what people think about them as players or in there choice of builds. Which is fair enough, but if they dont care they shouldnt take offense to people saying how lame they are

If they want to win and be popular they should change builds if they just want to win then they are going about it the right way.

Finally someone who sees everything the way everyone else should.

On another note...
I find it sad how everyone has built up a sterotypical view over us (Meow) and think that where ever we go, you see Searing Flames. In the previous season where we earned our Bronze Cape, we played a build that pretty much beat alot of builds in the meta. We played Searing Flames and ONLY had problems against guilds who played an extremely well Euro Spike (top 10/20). We have never played the meta yet we manage to constantly climb up the ladder. For most of this season we played a 1 War, 3 Mes, 1 Rt Spike build and rushed up to the top 10 extremely fast. As we approached the top 100 (About 2 months after the ladder reset) we we're playing Dervish/Warrior train and a bit of Searing Flames.
Recently after the Wastrels Demise nerf we found that our spike build wasn't as effective as prenerf and so started experimenting. We took a 3 week break from GvG and once we were back ran several different builds. We started with a Warrior train using an Order of Appostasy Necro however it didnt work too well due to the sudden burst of water eles. We then moved onto NR/Tranq but seemed to be very unlucky to repeatdly face strong split builds. After thought about most builds bring run in GvG, we decided to have some fun running a build that would once again, pretty much beat every build in the meta. So we ran a 6 man SF spike over the weekend that has just gone passed and won 95% of our GvG's, only loosing to an extremely strong split and to eF (After beating them the previous day they knew our weaknesses and exploited them to end the match fast).

So to conclude I am sorry if people find it sad that we not only not run the meta but run so called "Lame" builds which other guilds also run however we just do it well. And on the vD note. IF you had the chance where you were ONE win away from a silver cape and you KNEW you were facing a guild who clearly where of a high skill level, would you run a balanced build or would you research on what they have run in the past and play a lame build which no one would expect you to run? I would choose the later, wouldn't you?
We ran SB/RI in two matches and as we had 1st match choice we had a very strong advantage.

Match Report:
Game 1: vD knew of a build which we call our trump card (a virtual win if the wrong selection of skills are brought) and knew of our strengths with SF so decided to run a build which would over power the two. We had never ever ran a hex-SB/RI build before in competive GvG so it was extremely unexpected. We choose Burning Isle for the 1st map and ran a standard SB/RI build. vD opted with 2 Mel Dervs, 2 Mesmers, 1 Ranger, 2 Monks and a Water Flag runner.
Meow scored the 1st few kills of them game but where pushed back when the Melandru Dervishes where allowed to over extend and kill Meow's spitits without being punished. Meow where pushed back quite hard but scored a time kill on one of vD's monks and where able to push them back hard. Meow scored several kills and pushed vD behind the flag stand. vD then sent a small split off to try and get an NPC advantage just before VoD but where punished and pushed back even harder. vD started to score some kills and forced Meow to push back through the fire resulting in deaths however these deaths where not in vein. They where at the 18min mark and gave Meow a small base rez which where able to kill off vD's split. At this point Meow had to turtle which allowed vD to hard rez their dead allies in our base. Just as VoD hit we scored several kills and pushed vD to the stand. vD had almost team wiped at this point and decided to resign. 1-0 Meow.

Game 2: We knew that we where at a huge disadvantage in the 2nd match playing on thier map and decided to run our trump card build which would either result in a 100% or a 100% lose right at the start. Meow's build consited of a weak spike and a large amount of defense which if vD did not have the skills avaliable to deal with it, would lose the game. Unfortunatly vD knew we would run this build on the away map just like vs. PnH in our 1st game and brought a direct counter to it. We decided to wait untill VoD but could not handle the pressure and resigned out. 1-1.

Game 3: In game 3 vs. PnH we ran para spike and this was exactlly what vD thought we would run. We had originally planned to run Para Spike in our 3rd game however after some extra thought just on the last second we all quickly switched back to SB/RI. Once again Meow opted for Burning Isle. vD knew that this match would be everything or nothing and so decided to run several fire ele's and 2 mesmers packed with Guilt. We scored the 1st kills of the game and pushed VoD back after 8 minutes. Meow could not push into vD's base as Meow knew if they did, it would result in certain death. Meow waited it out untill VoD and fought with their spirit advantage. We managed to get clear each others NPC's and we're faced with an 8v8 fight for the final 16. We where yet to take a death however as the Lords started to walk our caller(Me) had connection problems and had a frozen screen. Other players took the initiative and started calling. After 3min I was back in and called spikes on their monks, and finished off the game with pressure on the lord.

2-1 Meow.
We did what we had to do to win the game. End of.

Who cares, in round 7 NUKE got completely owned by some ridiculous Icy Veins/Soulbarbs spike with more secondary class defence than you can shake a stick at. We cry, game goes on, get over it.

This is the tournament, you play to win, and let the drama roll. Just so long as we know that you know that we know just how bad you really are.

it's not meow's fault, it's anets fault for not fixing their RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing game to be quite honest.

Soul Reaping abbuse is pretty lame, but seriously... what was izzy's comment on it he like "believe tournament play will eliminate this kind of thing".... Personally I fail to see how tournament play will make Soul Reaping any less retarded than it is... Soul Reaping is Soul Reaping whether it be in PvE, GVG, Tombs or whatever...

The game is Build Wars if you really want it to be. Meow have proved this, they aren't any good, but you don't need to be good. Just need to play what they do right? And if you don't give a shit what the community thinks about you then no harm done. Let's face it they aren't the only guild to do this kind of bullshit. Just look at page 1.

PvE, wM, Ttgr... all of them are really bad at the game but get away with it (largely by beating "top" guilds that can in fact only eurospike or something / relying on getting broken home map vs actual good guilds.)

On the subject of results

SoF 2 - 0 Lords of Quid [QuiD]

that's 6-2 with a pretty awful opposition WL
