1) Avatar of Grenth is fine (is it hard to blind that guy, or run away from that guy, or not rely on heavy enchants)

2) sandstorm is fine (W - A - S - D, Remove altar maps)

3) song of concentration (change the "NpC capping = win" system)

4) counters for paragon ( kill the paragon, wait for chapter 4)

5) searing flames ( kill the elementalists, W-A-S-D)

overlooked counters/solutions for your nerf-dependent minds.

so true. don't hate the game, hate the players.

1) Avatar of Grenth is fine indeed, it's only stupid that you can't do anything about it when he puts it, you can just run -.-
2) Sandstorm isn't fine. I'm playing it also and I can see the damage it does. Have you ever tried to W - A - S - D against 6 sandstorms? Have you ever tried to do that on an altar map where your ghost gets killed by 6 sandstorms+obs flame spike?
3) Song of concentration should just stop one or 2 interrupts, not all. Like this any altar map is luck. Ghost never starts capping at the same time so whose ghost starts capping 1st that teams win. Pretty lame IMHO since you can't affect it.
4) There are enough counters to paragon, but you can't use all that in 6v6. (go,go 8v8)
5) Searing Flames - lol, couldn't you just say that for any class? Kill the elementalist? : )))))))))))))))) Couldn't you just kill dervish also when he puts Grenth up? Anyway Searing Flame is crap anyway.

You know, alot of these problems with SF, SS and Grenth could be solved if you could fit a little utility back in your builds. Basicly, bring back 8v8 so I can play mesmer (utility) again in halls and I can think of many fun ways to make the ppl playing these builds want to throw things through their computer monitor.

That is one of the most idiotic posts I have read on these forums. And believe me when I tell you that is really saying something.

I agree that Grenth is a little too brainless, but running a mesmer is a nice counter for most of the current annoying builds. With a dom mes you can PD Grenth or divert his attack skills, divert Searing/Sandstorm and PD Song before interrupting the team's ghost. Shame and Diversion spam has also gotten 100xs better with all the horrible heroway rank monks out and about.

The only drawback of running a mesmer in 6v6 is having to find a 3 character offensive/defensive setup or run a spike.

How to improve HA:

3. Make it 8v8 again. Almost every single good player hates the 6v6 because it gives less options work with and is a dumbed-down version of what Tombs originally was.

4. Put back in Heroes. It was one of NF's selling points, and it's unfair to nerf them out of HA a few months after NF was sold on that premise just because a vocal minority of players on the forums complain about them. Heroes were vastly popular in HA because most players loved using them in HA. Therefore, stop drastically changing the HA game due to the whims of players who post on this board or any fansite board.

5. Make every gold item that drops in HoH be worthwhile, with no crap mods, no crap skins, and no crap reqs. From my experience most of them aren't worth 600g, which again speaks to the vast lack of reward or point for being successful in HA.

6. Stop nerfing every single fun build that most players like playing. There was never anything really wrong with IWAY (good players would never lose to it unless they screwed up, which reasonably means there was no justifiable reason to nerf it), but it got nerfed multiple times because of incessant complaints on fansites. But most players love it so much that they kept playing IWAY anyways throughout all the multiple nerfings. 11. Bring back Burial Mounds.

12. Add in new maps and new content to HA.

13. Increase the rewards in HA by a ton. Add new rewards too. A major reason people don't like playing in HA is because the "reward to time/effort/skill/agony investment ratio" is horrendous.
WOW, you sure said a mouthful Navaros - and I agree with you 100% on the above points.

There are three main reasons HA is in decline.

1. The switch to 6v6 has driven a lot of the better/elite players away because the 6 man format is so restrictive in what a person can do with a build. The better/elite players thrive on creativity, and ANet has taken a lot of that creativity away. Please bring back 8v8.

2. HA has become stale. New maps, new and better rewards would certainly rejuvenate HA and get new people to play and bring back some of those who have left. A new facelift is long overdue.

3. Last and not least, quit nerfing the popular builds such as IWAY and Heroway. I feel very strongly about this point. At some point in time, everybody is going to have to come to the realization that the vast majority of people who play GW are casual players - and yes that includes PvP'rs. By taking away the popular and easily run builds such as IWAY, ANet has chased away the majority of those casual players. Unskilled and new players need easy builds to organize and run so they can at least have a small amount of success. If they do not taste success at least occasionaly, they will not play - at least not for very long and by forcing them into using more complex and harder to organize builds, those players have left HA and will never come back.

I've never really fully understood the argument the hardcore HA'rs make against builds such as IWAY and Heroway. On one hand they don't like to go against a team running this type of build. But on the other hand, they say that it is easy to defeat. So what's the problem? If they are so easy to beat than that means more fame and faction. Plus, by the time you reach the later maps, the weak teams running the gimmick builds have mostly been weeded out and your facing competition worthy of being there - barring the ocassional skip.

So ANet, if you want more people in HA, stop listening to the whiners and let the casual players have their easily run and organized gimmick builds. It takes nothing away from competetive gameplay, and more importantly, it keeps people interested.

Why do you always think we just want the fame and faction? Geez. It's boring as hell to run against SF heroway.

It takes away the FUN from competitive play. Gimmick builds aren't bad, but when every person you fight runs some sort of smoke trap/steady stance/jagged bones build it gets BORING FAST. IT'S BORING. THAT'S IT. QQ you can't run HA solo, it's not meant to be like that. Nerfing builds happen not because of whiners, but because Anet probably realised how much a skill was overpowered.

Right, anet nerfs all builds because of whiners because they definitely ALWAYS listen to the GW population. This leads to whining getting skills nerfed when they don't actually need a nerf... oh wait, if they listen to the GW population, why are we playing 6v6 again?

I have an idea why they made it 6v6.

Their servers couldn't handle 8v8. They thought "if we make ha 6v6, less people will play, and less connections would be needed per match. Then our servers won't be as bad." So they did it. And apparently it worked.

I may be wrong, but it sure seems likely.

How does making HA 6v6 reduce server load on a universal scale? There would still be the same number of players, just spread across more matches.

Exactly, it's like saying dividing 12 people into groups of 3 requires less food to feed than groups of 4 which is silly.

But smaller groups per actual server = less resources used.
