IF both parties clearly understand whatever rules the invitation is issued under, there is no problem. It doesn't matter if the invitation is permanent, for a day, or for 10 minutes, as long as it's understood by both parties. Inviting a player then kicking him/her just because you got their money is unethical and worthy of complete and utter contempt.

On the other hand, selling membership in a guild, let alone a top ranked one, cheapens the guild itself.

I saw this for the first time today, maybe this thread has given some people ideas? ^^

I'm neutral about this, strange thing to do, but there is really no harm. Not like the payers are expecting to stay in the guild long i guess.

Have to agree with this, but

If someone has to pay to get into a high ranked guild, they're mostly just PvErs that want the opportunity to finally show themselves off in a cape trim. I don't see the hurt in that, since it benefits both parties, and if they don't understand the fact that they may be kicked soon after, that's their fault. I don't support the selling of cape trim, but it's really not as bad as some people say.

That said, it was entertaining to see someone from PUFF (most likely bought their way in) brag about how good they are and how their guild would destroy all of us. Not going to mention names, but if someone who pays 10k for the invite abuses the guild name like that, then they should get kicked.

However, it does make me slightly sad to see the value of having a cape trim go down because of a few guilds that are selling invites.

Certainly isn't honorable. Not honorable at all.

Its a ripoff.

People are supposed to work to get money.

And NO GvGing all day isn't part of it.

Thats like spending a few years with nothing but dumbells and benchs... You may come out strong, but you don't make money for it.

I mean, take celeberties for example. Someone sees them... OMG LOOK WHO IT IS! They don't charge you a thousand dollars to get a picture taken with them though! They COULD do it... Some people WOULD pay. But they know it'll hurt their rep. Why will it hurt their rep? It's dishonorable.

In the end, I've lost my respect for these guild too.

My comment on "them needing money" is why they do it, has 2 replies...

1. If all they do is PVP... why do they need money?
2. Go win in the halls, sell what u get... that is what alot of the respectable all pvp that i know do....

It's no ripoff.

It's people who didn't grow up yet believing that pixels formed to a gold cape would lead them to highly-spiritual transcendant experiences, and so they pay 100k to wear it. How sad is that?

Did you seriously just compare the effort required to earn a trimmed cape against the effort of PvE farming?

no, he was comparing the effort for the return i believe... as in you will get out what u put in, but nothing more...

as in ppl shouldnt give u money to say they know u... the fact you are who u are is your return... if you want money you should pve like the rest of us...

atleast that is what i got from it... no idea where u got pve farming from...

I have sold quite a few memberships in eF and made some nice money for shiny items (tormented). I would have to play endless hours of HA or PvE to earn them the normal way - so why can't I take them sort of as a GVG reward for earning the cape with SKILL, not farming. And to idiots who keep calling me a scammer: not a single member who paid has been kicked from the guild. Besides for the duration of playoffs because we didn't want to get spies in our guildhall. But they are reinvited now.

And yea I dont see why it is so bad to have some PvE players with shiny cape somewhere. They want something to spend their money on - something rare and a cape is like that and we want money. Both sides are happy. No one has the right to say that it's wrong.

Really growing tired of people who kill trolls in a pvp game calling me scammer and nub because I do fair deals without any kind of scam involved : (

I really don't see the problem, as mentioned earlier anyone who thinks they will actually get into these guilds and play with them is crazy.

Also a lot of the people who buy into these guilds just use them as a bragging right to trash other guilds / players, if I had the power to exploit their stupidity - I would, and laugh at them.

Well, it's fair, you know what you get and they know what they're selling.
And if they don't advertise for how long the membership is just ask.

You should be giving EXTRA respect to these guilds, simply because they're letting the players stay in the guild. If it were me, I'd be kicking the people after inviting (whoever is stupid enough to spend 100k to join a guild deserves to be kicked).

I agree, all pvpers r not backstabbers as was stated above by someone... from my personal experiences, pvp guilds do not have alot of loyalty, but the clicks do stay goether.... i personally dont know alot of the ppl buying and getting the invites, the ones i saw, and the reason i started this forum were...

1. New guildies joining some of these guilds r talking alot of smack and throwing the cape around...
2. Some of the guilds, NOT SAYING ALL OF THEM... r not making it clear how long you will be in the said guild... some r just inviting and kicking... was told that directly from someone i was chatting with sending the invite....
3. Why invite in new island type area? Mass amount of ppl and you get away with more....

I use to feel that when i saw someone in HA, TA, Lions arch or where ever that had a cape with a border, i felt respect for that person... now i see the bordered cape and think, wonder how much that cost him....
