You can't play runner without a mic. You need to be able to communicate with the main team who is in your base so they can send suitable defense back from the main team. Mic on runner is essential.

There are ways round this of course, but if you CAN talk, you should have a mic for playing gvg. I was in a guild that had a player that refused to get a mic and played gvg with us. She used to type her info in team chat (she was a very quick typist!) but no-one ever saw what she had typed because they were concentrating on what was going on around them. Valuable info that could have won us games was lost due to her having no mic ( I hope she doesnt read this or I'm dead meat...)

Anyway, voice comms is essential for gvg and you can't hope to compete with anyone on the ladder if you don't have it.

For the hexes/conditions yes, but 'My blinding flash is diverted!' or 'I'm going to be spiked and I can't cancel Frenzy because I'm blacked out (lol)' or 'No wait! Backbreaker isn't charged yet!' or 'Red Engine Go! LoD is Dshotted.' isn't exactly easy to ctrl+click.

NUKE's (now WASD) core monk has no microphone. It has never gotten old to see 'sry i was power blocked' when we are all suddenly dead on the ground during a push.

I type a lot of my stuff in HA even though I have a mic. It's pretty interesting. Sometimes I wouldn't even have my headset on :P

And <3 whoever decides to blackout a warrior before a spike so he can't cancel frenzy...wtf
