I think it'd be faster to identify the elites that have some level of viable function in anything. And then label all the rest as dross.

I've seen it at least twice in Aspenwood. And once during a mission where I had a lengthy argument with our monk, who apparently thought it was good.

In terms of pvp?
[skill]Shield of Regeneration[/skill]
15 energy is too expensive for the effect, especially now that it has a recharge of 5. There are tons of better choices.
[skill]Migraine[/skill]
Frustration makes this elite and arcane conundrum completely irrelevant.
[skill]Obsidian Flesh[/skill]
No characters should waste an elite for tanking in pvp. Tanks fail.
[skill]Mark of Protection[/skill]
Gigantic recharge time, the duration is irrelevant since any pvper with a brain would switch targets, if only until the duration ends.
[skill]Life Transfer[/skill]
Long recharge time, a simple hex removal counters for 30 seconds. A skill like Wither or Depravity is far superior for a hex team.
[skill]Symbols of Inspiration[/skill][skill]Visions of Regret[/skill][skill]Extend Conditions[/skill][skill]Tease[/skill][skill]Signet of Illusions[/skill]
Mesmer elites in nightfall are pretty useless all around.

Migraine is still used to great effect. The thing is that migraine is double the cast time, which reduces the caster's efficiency more, and also you can have both of them on an illusion mesmer's bar and throw around a lot of hate.

As someone stated before there are a lot of borderline elites. Not complete trash but kinda only work in a very few special builds.
i've seen migraine and signet of illusions on teams in the top 200 btw.
And the new Pnh with the ten sec recharge is useable in gvg(maybe not the best but), unlike the old 45 sec recharge thats was a joke.

Are you kidding me? Migraine is to monks what faintheartedness is to warriors, exept better, I.E. not that good but devastating in a hex build.

[cow] was running Migraine in HA just last night. Signet of Illusions has a lot of potential, it's kind of a niche skill though.

While you could run it on a someone with a free elite like a mesmer (since it lasts a long time even with 0 divine favor), the two major problems with it remain:

First, limited number of classes you can use it on. Spirit spammers, monks, and that's it. Everyone else will break it early.

Second, the effect sucks. A paragon with 14 motivation will provide the same energy gain rate with Aria of Zeal. The delivery is slower than Blood Ritual. Casting a 10e spell followed by a 5e spell under GoLE is one pip of energy savings. It'll take 15 seconds just to recoup its own cost.

Unfortunately, it's going to stay gimped unless the mechanics are changed. Changing the duration won't do anything, and 2 pips of energy regen = pre-nerf Mantra of Recall.

I didn't say it was useless. I said it was irrelevant.

It's everything but. Matter of fact, it seems to be quite common in this meta.

Ravenous Gaze gets my vote. Sure it steals quite a lot of health when the condition is met, but whenever that happens you either had to sacrifice your own health, putting you in a dangerous position, or you have to let someone beat you up so you can use it and end up dying anyway.

At the very least it should steal more health when the condition is not met so you don't entirely waste your elite slots on crappier version of Vampiric Gaze.

While Guild Wars has no shortage of bad elites, the larger problem isn't those elites, it's the fact that so few templates have a reasonable choice in their elite skill. We're only just starting to see a decent number of caster templates with open elite slots - previously, almost every caster had to spec their elites in energy management in order to use their skills with any degree of regularity. Dom Mesmers and Monks are now pretty free in their elites. With GoLE and some ridiculous buffs, water eles are getting there too. Once you have a decent number of templates that are effective without their elite spot you can start buffing elites into usefulness and increasing variety in the meta.

QFT.

As an example, with factions monks finally got the ability to be useful without a specific elite, therefore, when a bunch of good elites came out with nightfall, people got a chance to really put them into use.

Should have told that to Ominous Latin Name who made top 15 with a Migraine build.

The only nerf I've found from IW is the longer recharge time.

I didn't mistake EP and ER, I read what people say on the board. But it could be that they mistaked the two, I just hear it all over the place on this and other boards. I use it all the time so it didn't make sence to me.

Could anyone explain Spellbreaker and how that is worthless? It seems good except of the recharge time.

15 energy, long recharge, beaten easily by the mighty tab.

Used with Glyph of Lesser Energy I honestly think there might be some potential in this one. Need to play with it more though.

I've done the leg work for you JR. It's incredible. I've played it on a flagger for a huge mending touch with [Izzy], and one of the monks in pink ran it for a bit too.

It's a great preprot tool against pressure builds, but you see really diminished returns when played at the stand due to the amount of prots flying around between two monks. However, the thing is beautiful on a split. I've tanked two sins wailing on me with this up and basically took no damage. I think it's arguably a stronger template than the e/rt guy, as it allows your split characters to play a lot more agressively. However, the weapon of remedy guy has the life steal bit, which puts a bit more pressure there. Considering that mending touch condition guys are the split meta though, it's incredibly strong at dealing with those characters. If you plan on having an ele running around defending the base as well as helping on a split, I think this is probably the best tool available.

I think it's impressive on a water ele, due to the +78 armor between armor of mist and shield of regen, allowing you to run up to the stand beefier than any other character on the team. Monks have too many options available so much better than this though in terms of power heals and game winning niche hex/condition removal to make an armor buff+breeze viable on those characters.

FUN TO THROW ON A GRENTH DERVISH THO MIRITE?

Too bad it's primo shatter bait.
