I think D/Mo-way was the most creative build ever.

Nah try D/Me for real unstoppable crazy fun

high damage output, over 300 hp in reserve, with standard hp of 400 and high armour, fast attack speed, and +24 regen all the time

Maybe not build, but still but innovative... before the Air of Enchantment nerf, I Didn't Know Gwen Was [Ten] used a mesmer with AoE + various fast enchantments spamming them on a monk, who spammed enchantments on himself and [skill]Release Enchantments[/skill]. It was a massive heal, 200-odd, every 5-6 seconds or so. I thought it was brilliant.

To elaborate on the shout-smite build: since shouts have no aftercast, you could slam on all of your shout skills almost simultaneously for a large spike of Zealot's Fire. This technique was also called "Karate Chop" because that's what you did to your keyboard.

I'm fond of the other smite builds too: Ether Renewal Smite and Air Smite.

A pretty cool one that I'm kicked myself for not even knowing about until after it was nerfed was the crazy-energy star network double-bonding. Once, Essence Bond triggered off of any damage. The idea was to have a primary bonder put Balthazar's Spirit on himself and Life Bonds on everyone else, then everyone put an Essence Bond on him. Thus, if anyone in the group took damage that was Life-Bond-transferrable, everyone else would get energy.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Sand Shards build, though arguably it was a bug exploit. When it was first introduced, Sand Shards would trigger off of any missed or failed attack, regardless of the weapon type. If you combine it with Way of the Empty Palm and any dual attack skill, you will be able to spam your dual attack (recharge doesn't kick in since it fails) and trigger Sand Shards twice per attack. The damage was stupidly high for next to no cost. Anet was pretty quick to fix it; they did it within a day of this build running rampant in Halls.

That was awesome. And you didn't use any dual attack, you used exhausting assault for the 1/2 cast time. Seeing a bunch of sins, each outputting over 100 DPS in nearby... amazing. Especially since those smiteball spikes were popular at the time.

Right, I forgot about the 1/2 sec activation on Exhausting Assault. I remember using it but couldn't remember why I picked it over the other dual attacks.

Interesting, my post looks like what I originally wrote, but it looks like you quoted the version that I edited...

Balthazar's Aura Stacking

Shoutsmite

Anguished was Lingwah

Sand Shards

Signet of Might

I think that covers the 5 most overpowered builds ever. btw Wa was the first to run shoutsmite not Te.

I wouldn't really call signet of might innovative... just broken mechanics.

Though I did forget about unlimited pain spirits... that was fun.

EoE bomb back in 2005. It's so lame and stupid but it's fun and provokes great reactions. I remember almost wetting myself the first time i saw it.

Minion Factory was a good laugh too.

I'd say D/A bomb because the only other fun "gimmick"/innovative build I did was MF and Iway, back in the day. =[

Signet of might were originally bugged so you could cast it on everyone. For example the guildlord. The thing you casted it on would then die after 10 secs. PvP must have been interesting untill they fixed that bug ^^

Yea, I remember Minion Factory. It wasn't the strongest HA build ever made, but damned if it wasn't fun to play, lol.

Class which relies on big enchantment stacks which have additional effects on removal + Skill that dumps a big enchantment stack for considerable benefit seemed pretty obvious to me.

Everything used to trigger Zealot's Fire, so bring a bunch of shouts and stances to trigger it (zealot's used to deal much more damage too).

What did lingwah do?

The pain spirit caused by linwah could be stacked. Stuff like glyph of renewal or mantra of recovery + lingwah produced one extra pain spirit every 16 seconds, leading to teams with +50 pain spirits (it was fixed quite fast).

Dervish + Enchantment stack + Contemplation of Purity. The number of hexes and conditions removed didn't used to scale with Divine Favor, so just run around with a big enchant stack whacking people, and purge off everything with CoP as neccessary. Oh yeah, and Mysticism used to scale THREE TIMES as well as it does now, 3HP and 1E per rank, so CoPing off an enchant stack basically rocketted you straight to full health and energy.

It was sort of like watching a bad cross between Ether Renewal, Avatar of Melandru and Purge Signet.
