Default new skills for earth eles to spike with.....

I took a sneak peek at the new GW:EN skills listed on the official gw wiki, saw these new ele skills:

Magnetic Surge(earth) 10 energy/2 sec cast/10 sec recharge

-Spell. Target foe takes 15...63...75 damage. If target foe is under the effects of an enchantment, that foe takes 30...102...120 damage instead.

Energy Blast(energy storage) 10 energy/2 sec cast/20 sec recharge

-Spell. Target foe takes 1...2...2 damage for each point of energy you have(maximum 140 damage).

Unlike obs flame, no exhaustion.....hmmmm

Exactly, kind of reminds me of when spiritual pain came out at pre-nerf strength. To have all the usual domination skills plus a high powered spike skill was imba, this new ele stuff is looking the same way.

20 sec recharge =/= overpowered.

Conditional damage =/= overpowered either.

You can still run it along with obs spike + stone daggers. That's where the power comes in. It's just like having invoke lightning + lightning orb + lightning strike...except you can't even use a warding mod+lightning shield to get +25 armor

If there was a skill that insta-killed everyone on the other team but had a 10 minute recharge and forced you to have no monks on your team would it be balanced?

Neither of those 2 skills are overpowered. Both have a large recharge and 2second casting time.
If they are deemed to be overpowered they would be fairly easy to balance by reducing the damage slightly.

Magnetic Surge will be good for spiking but is only powerful enough if it meets its condition.
Energy Blast is also good for spiking but getting max damage consistantly will be very difficult, especially when using it with ob flame.

You can't force enemies to use enchantments, Magnetic Surge can't spike then. Energy Blast is a good skill, got reduced to 130 but requires the eles to keep their energy at max or near max for the entire game, really limits their use. 2 second casts times and the 20 second recharge makes these skills just another lightning orb in a different attribute.

Did you even bother reading my post about how energy blast+obs flame+stone daggers is a similar but sometimes stronger version of invoke+orb+strike? The 2 second casting time makes it less powerful than ritspike, speaking of which, they haven't balanced yet after over half a year when it should be "fairly easy to balance by reducing the damage slightly"

Magnetic Surge sounds like an awesome spell for every level of PvP, since the area of gameplay is oversaturated with enchantment use. This can be the setup for a faster spike scenario. An opening as it were. Aegis, protective spirit and Spirit Bond can't save you from this.

Don't overthink what is still yet to be.
