That is why I laugh at the people complaining about syncers this weekend. It was difficult to sync this weekend with the amount of people playing. Even international districts had 2-3 full a lot of the time.

On top of more monks showing up, I also saw a lot of other solid builds being played. More good/semi-good players than normal. Not as many bad builds. I saw a lot of decent builds going around that were generally good. I'm not saying every match was great, but it was better than normal. Good weekend IMO.

This is why this week-end was good: the teams were either decent (had a monk) or were free faction.
EDIT: Dreamwind agrees with me.
I played 2 matches in RA, both to 10 (hardly ever happens on 1st try, really...)
Half of the wins were thanks to leavers...idk how u can call this good o_O

The few matches that failed were mostly cause of multiple monks in team..yes, people leave if there's more than 1 monk too. Even though they could wait after the match is over first -_-.

Also, if a team has a monk that does not mean they are decent lol.

Not to mention synchro nubs only increase the number of leavers... And it happeend often to me that we got to >7 wins thanks to leavers and then lost on 8th or 9th match cause we finally met a decent team (with or without a monk). So its even more time wasting than meeting a good team earlier in the run.

Sync needs to be killed.
There is no problem with leavers. You dont expect people to try to win a loosing buttle. If you dont want leavers go to TA. If you want to sync go to TA.
End of story.

Remove Glad Points from RA if you want to fix the big problems with the format. They all come from the opportunity to farm really weak competition for Glad Points.

Ensign, then why not just make a new title for TA? Why should a reward for doing well in RA be removed if Anet can solve the bad behavior that the reward causes?

cause then RA will still have a title. As long as there's a title, someone will farm it.

Hmm we must be playing a different game, because I probably played 100+ games on the weekend and probably saw less than 10 leavers total. Only 2-3 of those were on my team. That isn't what I would call a problem by any means.

As for removing glad points from RA, sure it would solve the problem, but it would also cut the population of the place by a lot. Before glad points, there wasn't much reason for anybody other than mending warriors to play RA. I think a better solution would be to make TA worth something for a change.

Saying that, it is definately possible to win points in RA without a healer (a reason most leave) and it's a lot more fun- but it requires a lot of pressure, shutdown, tactics and build synergy which most RANDOM teams lack.

If ANet are stupid and add a time penalty or something of the like to RA to discourage leavers, more people will sync join. If ANet stops syncing joining then more people will quit RA. With TA as bad as it is now, they won't want to go there. There's 2 arenas gone. HA anyone? Hang on a second, HA is terrible as well.

Random arena is meant to be random. If you wanted to pick members go to Team arena.

For everyone complaining about the timer vs 3 monk builds, etc., just throw a 3 minute cap on that. Seriously, 3 minutes isn't much time. By then you probably have an idea if you're going to win or not. Now, when you fight that geo tank that wants to grief up the match for 20 mins, you can simply leave without being affected.

For the 500th time, these threads never get old because something needs to be done. I've gained over 800k balth from RA previously, but it's just unplayable now. It's rediculous.

Not quite sure how the 3 minute cap is going to help at all. Maybe it'll just help that 3 monk team get their glad point faster?

Good thing I was gone this whole weekend for the event so I missed out on griefing :P

No a three minute time is perfect, at least if a set of parameters are taken in account as well, for example:

# of deaths scored <> # of people standing > raw damage versus AL60 dealt by players (this is unmodified damage output).

Three monks have no damage output so cant kill anyone so basically they will always loose. Such a team would be wisest to disband immediately. This will promote offensive play, and utility will still help killing people.

Leavers: I have no problem with leavers, giving up a hopeless battle is perfectly understandable. In chess you can offer a draw or you can give up, and save your time/energy. However, if you want a change, then think before you suggest something: banning/punishment is NOT going to work. Leavers will "pretend" to fight, or they will simply leeroy into the enemy.

Runners/tanks: If you cant kill them you don't deserve to win. Runners/tanks are good lessons for everybody that pure damage is useless without utility skills.

Sync: I don't understand why ANET hasn't fixed this yet, it doesn't look too difficult to randomize players before sorting them into arenas. When I am sure that my teammates synced, I simply leave. Not a good solution, but there is nothing else atm.

I meant a three limit timer for the leave penalty to still apply... if were talking a regular timer, 10 minutes would be more acceptable.

SO running tanking is a valid strategy?

Maybe they should take away all timers in the game (including GvG) and therby remove VoD as well. Because you consider perpetually running as a valid strategy, catching 8 runners is not so easy, and with some hard resses on all of them it should be sustainable to grief the opponent to submission.

I think timers are good, nobody ever won a war by perpetually running away.

The reward for doing well in RA should be the knowledge you gain from it, not the noobs you farm....

And how do you gain knowledge farming noobs? Glad points give non-noobs a reason to play there where there wasn't before.

And I'm still not convinced "RA desperately needs a fix".

No they should not. You can not go to RA with 4 runners, it is random. The worst I have seen so far was two shadow form assassin (they synced). I actually like runners/tanks because they are a burden to their team and I rarely have problem killing them (after their team is dead).

Going against players of similar skill levels will help you a lot faster than getting "Noobstomped" in under 10 seconds. All the glad points in RA did was make it a haven for leechers, joke builds, greifers, and synchers... Non-noobs know this and thats the only reason they farm RA is because you do have a better chance for a noobstomp glad point than you would in TA...

I disagree. I think glad points upped the competition of the place somewhat. Before it was completely unplayable and worthless. Now at least some good people show up in there every once in a while, even though the other half of the time it is still worthless. At least its not 100% worthless.

And no, I play RA over TA when I don't have a lot of time to organize and nobody is on to form a team.
