Dervishes can make semi-competent healers. They will never be able to replace monks. And a Boon Prot dervish....well.....is just stupid

Stealth will become the new meta though

Which kind of stealth do you mean:

1. Having a character do some other function less efficiently merely to try and throw off your opponents by going against their pre-conceptions.

2. Having a character using a skillbar with "hidden" skills that are not used until the timing of a match is absolutely prime. Example: glyph sac + meteor shower at VoD -- iQ in tournament setting. Of course, this was only "stealthy" the first time this was done by iQ. Once it had been done once it was in the minds of future opponents much like trick plays in football games.

The first kind of stealth always fails (well maybe it would succeed somewhat 1.5 years ago when the game didn't show you your opponents skill usage). The second kind of stealth has its places and merits.

this kinda "stealth" does still work, but only against the dregs you find in RA. ive run with several monk in RA that roll mo/w and bring riptose/shield bash/balanced stance with maybe ZB and some other protection. with the "rush the monk" mentality in RA, it makes teams with multiple melee chars rather easy. and if not, you still have a semi capable monk.

again, not great, but in RA, it can usually lead to an easy glad point.

Wait. You weren't like.....taking that remark seriously, were you?
The first type of stealth has been meta in RA for years
The second type requires the 'stealth skills' to be unexpected, and therefore can never become part of the metagame. As soon as something is a big part of a metagame it is, after all, not unexpected.

You forget, guys like this ^^^ in RA won't be carrying a Resurrection Signet.

I ran into a warrior the other night with Dragon's Stomp + Aftershock, I was too slow to get the screen though.

Ranger with Conjure Nightmare. I guess it worked, because it immediately gave me nightmares about this thread.

No screenshot unfortunately but....

Warrior in gvg with mending, blessed sig and Healing Burst. He also used frenzy at every oppotunity, despite being a couple of aggro cricles away from his monks or any other player, but at least he had enough energy, blessed signet kept him good on energy for the 2 seconds he was alive.

Also, I've been repeatedly guilted as a blight monk, as in every time he had the skill recharged it would be used on me, maybe he was waiting for my stealth plan of using Smite at a crucial point in the game?!?!

Also all the usual stuff, but they always seem to be on my team.

Reminds me of the days when guilt actually affected my boon prot bars that contained energy drain and drain enchantment. Those were the days. Trying to manuever your skill usage as a monk around diversion, shame, and guilt...now that was tricky.

Faced this sissy warrior last night in RA that had one of the dumbest builds I've ever seen:

W/R

Auspicious Parry {E}
Healing Signet
Troll Unguent
Power Attack
Penetrating Blow

I was on my monk in a 2 on 4 fight (the other 2 left my team before the match started). The mesmer and I held out until one of the opposing players left. Then we wand killed the elementalist who got rezzed, killed again, and left. Then we went and stood in the miasma and tanked this completely non-threatening warrior and a slightly threatening dervish.

Every time the warrior got to 20% health he'd run away and spam healing signet and troll unguent. A couple minutes later, my mesmer left and later the dervish left. I wanted to stay and teach the warrior a lesson of how much he sucked by figuring out a way to kill him with my monk (probably would have had to wait till he went afk), but got called to do some HA. I had swapped in my 15^50 wand and was continously dragging miasma over to his location, but had difficulty getting the last 25% of his health gone.

Well Im back to doing RA regularly, and I remember why I stopped going.

For example..

1. Physical damage classes impersonating casters. Sure, dervs and necros can heal/prot/etc sometimes, but I saw a ranger earlier using life transfer, and other assorted blood skills. Given, a touch ranger is far from the worst thing to have on your team, but this was not such a case. Lacking any defensive skills and damage, it really didn't contribute much other than the occasional vile touch, woo.

More on that subject, I also encountered an Arcane Zeal Derv recently. I know dervs have some healing ability, but this was all self survival. Arcane zeal, lyssas haste, interventions, and mystic regen Im sure. I never saw an offensive skill, and he mostly ran around keeping himself alive and giving the monk an occasional imbue.

2. Since I see it so much, don't run Healing Hands. If anywhere maybe on a monk primary, but I'm just tired of seeing it on sins and the eternal warrior.

3. I won't criticize those who are new to pvp or a certain class and go in with the skills given to you at the start, but can we give the necros something other than plague signet for a test elite? ...

I will undoubtedly be posting here some more, sadly.

This almost sounds like a build I was testing in RA (in fact your name sounds familiar), except that I was spamming Mystic Healing.
