glimmer is 108 at 14 healing. WoH is 142 unconditional and 236 conditional at 14, not including the divine favor.

not sure which side to place the =

Yay no poofing sin gayness and congrats on killing necro spike.

ZB lol

and if u think good monking is running 2 bubbles behind the backline and spamming LoD then....

Twichy still astounds me you really think a skill should be able to remove a condition, a hex, AND heal, and be 5e.

GIMME SOME OF THAT DANK, its obviously better than mine.

First impressions... people are dieing a lot in GvG
Dunno if this trend is to confirm but it only shows how powerfull (*cough*) melee is and monks can't cope with the damage.

VoD might as well be at 10 minutes from the first matches I witnessed

About recall: fail.
It changed absolutely nothing for HB.
Again, first impressions, to be confirmed.

About the (long needed) healing prayers buff, lots of monks are going hybrid for all formats. Novelty factor probably, but I like it myself, WoH is again played, it feels like 2005
Glimmer of light doesn't cut it though, but healing prayers are now a viable alternative to Zealous Benediction/ Shield of Regeneration for 4x4.

Overall a very nice patch methink, pity HB are still the pile of donkey poo they've been for monthes.

Edit: mass degens are now very cool, the nerf to LoD was a huge boost to poison, disease and hexes, that's good for variety.

Towards rigid, dedicated splits.

A bunch of physical characters + a Dervish Spammer is too much pressure to be taking with the weakened healing options. If you try to split it with a balanced team, the odds are way against you. I hope I'm wrong, but that's my big concern about this update - balanced builds are basically just about dead.

And although the D/N spammer is one of the most disgusting builds ever and those Necro party buffs need to be changed, fixing that won't solve the core problem. People will just use other forms of single-minded mass pressure that serve the game goal of overwhelming teams too much to adapt against with the current GvG map mechanics.

The meta could very well be heading toward teams having to run either damage overload or dedicated splits that can kill the Lord quickly (or, a direct counter to those if you are confident in predicting what you'll have to fight). Turning the game into a Lord race isn't too exciting.

The most popular proposed change is

Blessed Light: 5 Energy, 3/4 Cast, 5 Second Recharge

Heal target ally for X health, remove a hex, and remove a condition. If both a condition and hex are removed, you lose 5 energy.

Wouldn't that be nicer than the jank we have now?

Btw its twicky.....learn to spell. Hell even copy paste.

Since you know nothing of the suggested change to Blight you should do some research before you try to flame anyone.

Have a nice day

I agree, at least for the time being seeing some heavy offensive builds will be far, far more interesting than the boring webs of passive defense and VoD turtling.

Have fun being exploded in 5 minutes rather than slugging it out to 20.

I'll be playing TF2...

Just makes everyone run a heal party on the flag runner and run more splittable monks in my opinion. But we'll see how it shapes out.

Everyone's going to be blowing up quickly for the first week or so. New Healer's Boon looks nice. Magebane Shot is scary. Assassins are still broken. Restful Breeze is interesting.

Could someone explain the Ancestor's Rage change to me?

It works the same way as before, except it's no longer affected by Enchanting mods. This stops people from using it on themselves with an enchanting mod, then teleporting in with Ride The Lightning for a 200 damage spike.

Not sure why anyone would want healing monks in gvg, they have pretty much no interesting skills and the skillful part of monking isn't making red bars go up it's pre-protting.

Dedicated splits aren't good for the game, I'm really not sure why Izzy wants them to be so strong. I guess when he said he was looking at 3 monk backlines, he meant looking at how he could make it so they were more necessary.

Can't have high hopes for GW2 with this team balancing the game.

Okay, spent some time toying around in RA and AB, and here's my sense of the monk changes:

WoH crushes ZB in every format. I think you can spec enough prot for Spirit Bond and Reversal to be effective, and also use a high level WoH for a 270ish conditional heal, or 180ish unconditional heal. I think it's more of a true bar compression skill than ZB, and more powerful to boot; it's useable as a general heal outside of the condition, and the conditional heal is just stupid. I haven't put a great deal of thought into it yet, but in RA, AB and probably TA, I'm giving up ZB for WoH and Gift of Health for Signet of Rejuvenation, and I'm really content with the results. By itself, WoH gives me a red bars up that's stronger and more cycleable than Gift of Health, and gets red bars up much faster if they do fall below 50%. It feels like it's almost (but not quite) taking the place of both ZB and Gift of Health, and the small hit to my prot's efficacy doesn't feel tangible.

Blessed Light is still really crappy bar compression. It's just not efficient unless I can get all three of the conditions to kick in, but in smaller environments, I don't have the really option of letting Blessed Light ever be efficient. I also desperately need another hard prot or red bars up skill just to get anywhere. In that respect, I have very few non-elite options to use, and the augmented Blessed Light is kind of like spamming ZB without meeting the 50% condition. I just don't see it as useable.

I wasn't able to think of any real use for Healer's Boon in either format, but it seems that HA (and maybe GvG), at least, might move to three monk backlines, replacing at least the LoD monk with a Healer's Boon monk. It's the only practical way that I can think of to keep red bars up, since Light of Deliverance feels completely unusable now.

Glimmer of Light just doesn't work. The 1/4 cast is nice on a moderately powerful heal, but that's about all you're hedging on. That is, while 1/4 cast gets around some misery, the spell doesn't really feel energy efficient enough to be a general red bars up, or powerful enough to push bars up during or after a spike, even if you've protted the target well, and you should be able to get around that misery without dedicating your elite slot to a spell that feels generally shoddy.

Didn't really feel that any of the other skill boosts were that notable, except for some that nipped some gimmick builds in the bud. I haven't stepped into HB yet to see if the Recall nerf has helped or not.

Default Worst Update Ever

The barely tolerable metagame was made somewhat ok by the fact that a solid party heal was at the stand, freeing up your flagger to deal with retarded sin splits and having a solid enough a skill on your monk to deal with whatever degenerate overload hex/condi build you'd get between games with degenerate split templates. However, with the nerf to LoD and the unchanged problematic offensive templates, This next month is probably going to piss more people off than when Nightfall came out.

Healing Breeze spam will save you.
No?
My bad.

Bah whatever. That's not like if this game had more than a 2 years lifespan before it dies.

No offence, but GW players say "Worst update ever" so many times, the words have lot all meaning.

Honestly, it wasn't THAT bad.
