You are the type of player that Sarevok wants to 1v1.

Why do you want a 1 on 1 in a 12 vs 12 battle???
for revenge or just to test your build agains another person!!

Not because you get killed by another person and you want to pwn them on 1 vs 1. Personally if I find another warrior i'd like to test my build against his!

it's like in the movies, there are always ppl in huge battles that seek for 1 specific target they want to kill. to test their strenght/build and for fun!

Getting killed by an assasin is pretty cool if you are a warrior... because you'd think a warrior would win. So it's interesting to see if you can beat him.

Then again... there are a bunch of noobs who can't stand it when they lose... well I don't think you can change that.

I remember the last time I came across a toucher in AB.. First encounter, I kite with Flame Djinn's Haste and kill it with fire. Funny thing, even though they didn't ask for a 1v1, we ended up in that situation again, both trying to cap shrines. This time I just stood there, took the touching, and kept throwing spells until the toucher ran out of energy. Priceless.

i tend to ignore the 1v1 crap, or reply that this is 12v12 and there is a place called a gh to host scrimmages for 1v1. but these idiots calling for me are more than welcome to find me and ill happily kill 'em

i think the best recent time was a wammo calling for me (as a derv) to 1v1 with him kinda strange how when he does find me, he has his fellow warrior buddy to back him up. 2v1 and they still got pwned, gg

*Casts Animate Thread Minion*

Haha sorry for the thread necromancy but I figure it's about time to update on the metagame of AB (LOLZ, I know!) and many build/1v1 patterns.

Apparently the lack of dealing with many key skills, Dual Attuned Mystic Regen Air Spikers have become alot more commonplace and many eles now think they have the cahones to 1v1 anyone with their fifty enchantments and 20 health regen. The idea behind their build is to stack Ele and Air Attunement, Mystic Regen, and maybe a cover enchant to provide a constant 10+ health regen while spiking with air.

Another common plauge are Sins and their Variations. Burst Sins still exist despite anet's best attempts, but variations have been popping up. People are using Tiger Stance and Lightning Reflexes to cover for the BoA nerf, so spotting a A/W or A/R is prime targets for anti-melee measures/hexes. These people are the worst though, cause the ninja wannabes get arrogant with their copypasta.

A new interesting build I've seen pop up though is the Mo/A Dagger Monk. No I am not drunk, Monks have gone melee with Signet of Judgement, shadowstep to follow up with Falling Spider and the smite touches to spike you down. It's easy to counter upon experiencing it, but just be careful when seeing any Mo/A because now it's more than likely that it isnt a Recall Monk.

With all the new tricks out there for people to 1v1 with, it looks more and more like AB is favoring the Necro and Mesmers. Necros have mass enchant removals to counteract the E/D Mystic spam, while Mesmers have antimelee and anticaster for both eles and sins. As stated in my first post I believe that 1v1 is probably the stupidest thing since Balthazar's Penindulum, but with the insane amount of copypasta out there it's nice to be prepared when you get called out by that burst that gets mad when a monk is nearby.

Pretty much every necro I spot is either a MM or a SS/IP+4otherrandomhexes spammer

The answer to that: [skill]Assault Enchantments[/skill]. Bye bye E/D

Ive also been experimenting with a E/A shadow-step starburst build, not at all with bad results. Especially fun vs MM. Massive AoE fire spellcasting and all their minions are gone within seconds

[skill]Corrupt Enchantment[/skill]

By far one of the best skills to take down enchantment heavy players, pair it with some other enchantment remover and it's your enchantment heavy buddy's worst nightmare.

As for the 1 on 1 in AB, almost every sin in AB has to 1 on 1 you, I know the point of the assassin is to spike down a target (assassinate them) but they seem to lock on to you and run after you just to 1 on 1 with you.

Greatest skill against sins (and most other melee class) [skill]Spoil Victor[/skill] pair it with PoF and it is the best way to make sure anyone wanting to fight you mono on mono will die.

Still have seen the grudgers in AB, kind of annoying but they usually suck and start grudging because their wiki copypasta isn't working against you.

I ran into that build in RA 2 months ago. The monk shadowstepped to me and I got caught off guard. I later ended up in a group with him and he showed me his bar. Shame though, no self heal

The only problem with that is you are wasting your sin's elite slot on a overglorified Gaze of Contempt. A better enchant strip for a sin would be Expunge Enchant, it may be touch range but with a BoA bar you can completly strip their enchants.

As for the E/A Shadowstepper, that was done a while back and it's still being used nowadays. Only problem is that you need either a snare or a KD like gale to boost it to full effect.

QFT, Corrupt is so much fun. Especially against a dervish who doesnt know how to cover Mystic Regen and just spent 6 seconds dancing around trying to be immortal.

As for the SV comment, Recently I had been enlightened to how effective this is in AB but still if you pop it on a sin then the problem still occurs that he may be dead but you are still down to half hp and riddled with conditions. I would think that IP with Plauge Touch would make for better self defense, but yea if you wanna kill a renegade sin not hitting you SV is fun.

Assault enchantments is inferior to [skill]Shattering Assault[/skill] which comes in very handy versus any kind of target because the dual removes 2 enchants and with that recharge, having a protmonk on good teams won't do anything so you cut through it. of course, Assault looks nice from energy and recharge, but it's *somewhat* conditional with the dual and of course lacks the nice damage..

same counts for E/D. you just cut through their enchants over and over.

Spoil is alright, however i'd prefer curses because spoil is just "life loss" instead of "life steal" so your target will most likely die, yes...but so would you.

IP + SoLS or Plague Touch is alright to use also.

Haha thanks Mokone, I was looking for that skill. Only problem with that is you either lose Deep Wound or your spike with it, but then again that's easily remedied with buffs.

Yeah I had that problem for awhile but adding in [skill]Price of Failure[/skill] helps with the suvivability a bit. And it's nice because PoF has a set time so even if you have 0 points in curses it still works. SV is fun to play because of the grudgers that think they'll get you next time with SV+PoF hexed on them. But yeah it does have a problem with survivability for the most part even though it is funny as hell to see the sin killing themselves while they do their 123 combo for some reason they think that SV and PoF won't stop them from dying. But I guess they reason I run a SV build is because I hate sins with a passion and I enjoy wrecking their little cookie cutter builds when they try to mono on mono with me.

I've been AB'ing since the first day it's come out and since that day there's been idiots who want to 1v1 you. Me and my Guild have always been AB fanatics simply because it's an arena where whether you win or lose, you have a lot of fun and the no-dp/unlimited reses are just awesome.

I play warrior mainly in AB and because of that I get a lot of hate from enemy warriors when I drop them, they either ask for a 1v1 or decide to follow me the rest of the game attempting to get revenge. It usually ends up the same way everytime - They PM spam me with insults and when I reply I'm on their ignore list. I gave up reporting these guys after the first twenty or so.

The 'noobs' 'wammos' 'tanks' 'idiots' are always going to be in Alliance Battles because of GW being an MMO game and MMO games are usually associated with people being able to tank five billion enemies and come out on top. From the wammo point of view, he's just come from saving the world by killing the Lich so why should a lowly <insert profession here> be able to kill him? Sooner or later all these guys realise that 1v1's just ain't gonna cut it but then they get replaced by newer, more enthusiastic wammos who set out to succeed where their ancestors failed

Like I said my Guild have been AB enthusiasts since the Factions preview weekend and we've seen loads of metas come and go. I find that playing AB with a team build is far more rewarding in terms of fun and achievements then getting four random builds together.

Still you get people asking for 1v1s about two seconds after you levelled their team 4v4 at the midway point between the first two shrines. But that's the fun of AB, without those guys it wouldn't be as much fun

Having said that, if you go out with a build which is specced for survival and skirmishes then sure you might wanna have a few random 1v1s along the way, it's inevitable if that's your gameplan. But if you're geared for capping then just ignore these kids, let them gun you to their hearts content, their loud voices make up for their inability to play the game. And their inability to play the game makes me smile everytime I Eviscerate then Agonizing Chop their Heal Sig, only for them to get KD'd by Bulls Strike as they try to run away because their awesome build of awesomeness just got pwned.

Yea, i favorite part of AB is be able(sometimes) to 1v1 other warriors and see them limp away and die 5 sec later from deep wounded and bleeding. They then pm me insults which i laugh at. (When you 2v2 people with a toucher, put your stats on "offline" or "don't distrub")
But usually people don't ask you for a 1v1, it just happens: You met an enemy elementalist(sry, elementalists are my favorite enemy) in a narrow pass, it just happens that both of you started attacking each other; and depend on the build, usually the elementalist came out victorious.[Note: this is how i observed from the few hours i AB, so it may not always be true, hey my warrior killed 95% of the fire elementalist i met 1v1 and some noob warriors may try to run pass the elementalist, too]
So I think it just occurs that every once in a while, you have a fight or flight 1v1 situation; and that's what i think makes AB(besides winning 500-0) fun; cause capping after a few minutes can be very tedious imo and people will then suicide themselves on enemy mobs.

Nah 500-0 matches aren't fun, the fun ones are when your team is behind and it's 460-480 and you manage to win at the last minute.

First of all, I am a Warrior, but no I am not a foolish one who brings an HH farming build or frenzy w/out a cancel stance. My favorite build to run is a YAA anti-kiter build because its just so much fun hunting down those loners running around in Ancestral. (I'm Luxon btw) As for 1v1ing, I've gotten so sick of those countless assassins running the over-used, completely copied Shadow Prison build off wiki that I always bring some sort of way to counter them whether it be defensive or disciplined stance or shield bash. All i can say is, out of the 4 or 5 that there always is on kurzick side, occasionally only one of them will bring expose defenses. As soon as I see the little black shadow pop up beside me i just flip on a stance, YAA them, and slash away. Afterwards, they will usually swear at me and they're all like and call luxons noobs when we win.
