Default 1v1, What the-?

I'll admit AB has provided one very entertaining format of PvP, I really enjoy the sheer pandemonium of 2 armies killing each other in cold blood. Since I use my Sin exclusively for AB, I especially enjoy slitting the throat of a lone Luxon running around or helping my healbots being threatened by a mob. One thing that tends to confuse me is a concept that apparently harbors honor and glory (imo, so don't flame me) amongst the Luxons:

The 1v1 Fight.

It never seems to fail, anytime I kill a warrior or most other non-caster classes out of nowhere I always hear at least one "wtf wuss! I would own j00 in 1v1" or the less used "Quit snaring you wussy sin and solo me!" alot when I am striding across the jade sea. My question is why is this idea so popular? Why would people want to 1v1 in a massive 12v12 + npc army fight when it's almost impossible to find a place to do said duel? And why do Wamos (sorry to stereotype) most of all feel the need to duel an Assassin?

People that do that are just trying to justify their failure at understanding that GW is a team game. You usually hear that from noob Riposte Wammos that will blindly follow you across the map while happily spamming Riposte if you ignore them.

I've never seen that. What I have seen constantly are people that run really retarded builds (like the afforementioned riposte/stance tank wammo) that are near-impossible to kill 1v1, which brag that it takes 4 people to kill them (that is, after their three groupmates have been exterminated.)

Ah yes, the classic "MUAHAHAH I CAN TANK ENTIRE ARMY!!1" situation. I just let the nuker take over from there while I sit there with Neutrality and Dark Escape up.

I agree completely with the OP, I'm seeing a lot of people yelling out "1v1 me, meet me at so-so" And I get yelled at sometimes by these people when my teammates come help kill, so I just go "Uhh, maybe you should yell at my helpful teammates for backing me up in an alliance battle and not me."

I think Stoneflesh Aura made that phenomenon exponentially worse.

If I see a Kurzick say "I could beat you in a 1 on 1" I show how wrong they are, because normally they are, of course if I know they are playing a build I couldn't beat, I won't bother, I know my weaknesses, and am not stupid enough to dive right into them.

Lol, could be me

I always shout at assassins... I'm like taking them down, then they run away

So I say like: Aw ass stop running

And at that exactly time they suddenly shadow prison and pwn my ass while I'm typing and the stupid monk never watches radar on my team unless I play it so I'm out of range :'(

Thats why I quitted chasing assassins...

Because there are a lot of mentally challenged players in the game that fail to recognize Guild Wars for what it is -- a team game. It's often these same players that think flare, power attack, dolyak signet, orison of healing, mending, etc. are good skills.

In the builds I bring, I usually lean towards a Hex-Heavy Illusion Mesmer and a Wild Blow/Rending Sweep Dervish.

The popular solo alternative is to bring a Grenth's Dervish, but I really enjoy Siphon Speed, Signet of Malice, Grenth's Grasp, Rending Sweep, and Wearying Strike on a D/A.

This was a round of Fort Aspenwood when I was playing for the Kurzick side.

Ever played a cripshot? I'm sure you'll get a "stop running pussy ranger" at least once every fight.

My favourite version of that was "I'd pwn u if i could hit u!" from a warrior who died from bleeding+poison with his heal sig d-shotted, while i ran around him in circles.

I also had an assassin who called me a "coward" while I was playing a YAA W/A. He shadow prisoned me, so i cancelled my shadow of haste and jumped a full radar back before taking his combo in the face. A minute later he tried to do it again... with the same result. Then he started swearing at me.

I love Snaring touchers with Siphon Speed. Hear their sh*t talk for about a minute then when they change targets I kill them while they are preoccupied.

heh. I usually run a YAA ganker, so it's fun kiting them in circles. Almost always, one of two things happen. Either they limp after me and get beat on by someone else, or they switch targets. As soon as I see Zojun's Haste or Dodge pop up, I assist in delivering them a swift beatdown. It's especially fun when the deep wound gets buried by YAA and they spend too much time trying to plague touch it off and not enough time getting health back.

I liked hitting them with diversion on my mezzy, then watching them enjoy their final 20-ish seconds of life. When I say "exponentially worse," I mean that by stoneflesh handling spells as well, they attract large amounts of unneccessary attention from idiots whose e-peen length hinges on not running from an ultimately-useless fight.

I think the best thing in the world to do with my sin is when I get hit with Empahty, Spoil Victor, Insidious Parasite, Price of Failure, Spirit of Failure, Reckless Haste and Spirit Shackles and said N/Me doesn't have a true offensive spell.

I just sit there and /wave.

People gotta realize that the whole purpose of the assassin is to kill the guy, and quickly run out, not tank the wammo on their team chasing you.

my tip to you, if you're a assasin, 1vs1 is so easy for you unless its riposte warriors, so just accept the challenge, own them and then laugh at them lol

lol I just want to say - playing assassins in AB is possibly the funest thing to do in your spare time on GW.

whoever is stupid enough to challenge an assassin to a 1v1 in AB is a bit bumb.

I love the fact that I can make people chase after me for ages wghile I regen my health by using Shadow of Haste + Dash and Feigned Neutraility. And then while a whammo is chasing after me I just turn around - cast my Shadow Prison Combo and he dies lol. so fun:P
