It's great fun to sit and wait a million hours for a match, when you can smurf and get one in under 5 minutes.

In my experience it's exactly the opposite, high ranked guilds often don't play unless their core players are online. But when the core is not all there, being GvG addicts, the online players still like to have a game so they will play in another guild either as a guest or using a second account. So these are games that would not have occurred if they stuck to your theory, and there still would not have been more high ranked games.

Matchmaking doesn't take rank into account, it looks at rating, smurfs don't change this.

simple test, when/if you log on tonight, look at obs mode around 6 est, than 8 est, than 20 est and so on. On a good night, 3 top 100 American teams will be playing... bad night, there will be matches still on from euro hours.

if you honestly do not understand the logic in waiting for 30 mins for a rank 9000 guild, or being paired with that same guild in under 4 mins, you are stupid.

the only time smurfing was a "problem" was when QQ had access to like 5 guilds and were ready to tank Fish out of top 16 if they had to (which was pretty RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing funny if you ask me)

i dont mind smurfing, its all virtual aye? im starting to think that the top 1000 consists of top 100 guild's smurfs and the top 100 guilds consist of top 10's smurfs and the top 10 is just anet taking their anger out on us. cause we b ii tch so much. who really cares, me and my guild gvg'd 4 times in one night and got rolled 3 times by black parades, cute whatever bears of whatever, and some other cocky guild. we didnt care though, we sat in vent and made fun of how much we sucked while watching observer.

Anyway this discussion is as old as guildwars and there might have been some point to the discussion back when smurfing often also meant tanking ( in the old ladder system), but I really don't see the point now. According to the OP the game is over in 4 minutes so I think the best would be to just shrug it off and continue playing.

I smurf with a second account, yes I admit this, I care about my guilds standing on the ladder, but when I smurf, my guild uses all prophicies/core skills (because it was better back then).... The fact that we still roll people who are on the ladder (rank 900-1000) is rather sad....

If you get rolled by a team, do this...

1. Think when you got rolled.
2. Then identify why you got rolled.
3. Then find the causes.
4. Identify the most important ones.
5. Work to rectify them.
6. Click the Guild Battle Button.

You will be going up the ladder in no time. Smurfing was an issue when top guilds used to tank rating to sabotage other top guilds rank. I believe, with ATs that changed now.

This works against teams of equalish playing level, but when you say, well they had 4 guys from dT and the rest were secound accounts.... theres not much you can do, sucks for people low on ladder atm, only at rank 595, rating 1063 myself ><

4 guys from [dT] playing, that's great, what would you rather have them do, go play PvE until their core is on for a full team of 8 to wipe you, and you get no game at all in the meantime? The more good players on the merrier I say, who cares what team their from or in.

It is axiomatic that by far the fastest way to learn anything is to play with/against the best people out there - this is true in fighting games, in FPS, in martial arts, etc. It doesn't matter if you get destroyed in seconds - you see how they're destroying you, which allows you to figure out two things: 1) how to avoid being destroyed in the future, and 2) how to destroy others. You can't learn by playing against people of your own level, because they suck just as much as you. You'll win more often, but you won't learn a damn thing.

The only time playing top players becomes a waste of time is when you go in there just trying to win, and not trying to learn anything - in other words, being handed a great opportunity and promptly squandering it.
You win this thread. Better guilds will show you how to get better, faceing people of your own skill level will not. I'm not even going to pretend to be a great pvper but I try to learn from better players whenever I can, even if it means them kicking my (digital) face in.

To be honest, I'd rather get rolled by a good team than noobstomp rank 2000 guilds. At least I'll figure out what went wrong in my build or team play in losing to a good team, since they'll show what part of your build good teams can exploit.

You can't really learn much when you get rolled in less then 2 minutes tho. You might if it is a 1vs1 match, but in a 8vs8 match there are probably 8 people making mistakes all at the same time so the chance you learn something from it is small. You learn far more if you get beaten after a long fight. Then the amount of important mistakes (at your own level) will be lower and easier to be seen. You can improve on those then, get a little higher on the ladder, fight teams that are a little better and notice new mistakes.
Of course this doesn't work because of the low amount of guilds actually playing.

No, I was simply stating that reviewing your builds flaws should be done with the fact of who you faced kept in perspective, of course I want as many people to GvG as possible, I find it the most enjoyable part of the game......

Rank 900-1000 guilds are bad.

The fact that they're on the ladder, doesn't change this.

The pvp access kit makes this even easier now to have a 2nd account dedicated smurf guilds.

Money, it's a cheap impulse buy that saves hours of Balth point grinding. Which should make it instantly popular.

I never said they were good, the fact that we can beat them while using prof/core-only skills supports this...
