Default Getting into PvP??

Ok so I have finished all chapters and GW:EN. I am a W/anything else and have most skills of most professions unlocked. I have been trying to get into PvP and it is down right impossible. What is the best way? Are there times that work better with more understanding players? Does anybody here take time out and help new PvP players?

Practice like crazy, read threads, and practice the things you read like crazy some more. I probably racked up hundreds of hours in RA just learning the basics of PvP (targetting, awareness, kiting, skill usage, interrupting) before even trying to do anything in an organized team.

Are some good reads, though you might not have enough understanding of how things work. Learn about the basics of kiting (running away from warriors to save damage), awareness of where enemies/allies are, what skills they have, and what skills they're probably going to be using, learn animations and uses for all the common skills, learn the basic templates (ranger template, shock-axe, etc) that most of PvP uses, learn what characters and skills are direct threats and how to keep track of them, learn to communicate with your team, etc etc. There's a million things and more that you need to learn and become proficient at, many things which can't be taught, so tl;dr version, go practice a lot.

This is bordering on sounding rhetoric, but yes sometimes people do take time out to help...

I get PM'd in game often and the PM will be something like: 'hi I'm new to HA, I read you're thread, it's cool, can you help me!'. When you get past the bullsh't. You are left with 'can you help me?'. Help with what? It's a completely open question.

Now to look at your post in fine detail (DO NOT GET OFFENDED BY WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY):

Quote:

I don't like it when people say 'who cares' and precede to argue a tonne; however, although this will come off as hypocritical. Who cares? No one really cares if you have finished all the chapters, granted it shows experience, but not much experience. You can get through all the chapters with a bad skill bar.

Again sounding hypocritical because I tend to post a lot and use many words to explain what I mean, I would like to point out that this is the first part of your post. Waffle...

Quote:

So you pick a front-line character (which generally leads groups) and you're asking for help. Interesting when you think about it.

most professions unlocked.
Professions, if you are sure you mean professions then I'm thinking you're a PVE character. With your own brain, you could of worked out that it would make more sense to make a PVP character. I'm not going to write more on this because you could of accidentally made a typo, and you actually meant skills.

Quote:

You have fat fingers and accidentally move the mouse and exit the game, instead of clicking enter battle? What exactly does this mean? Oh and impossible, why are you coming here for help then? Not that I know what help you are after, but if it is impossible, then how can we help? We're not gods.

Quote:

What do you mean? You hope if you play at 6PM GMT instead of 6PM EST, people will understand how to get around impossible?

Quote:

I have done.

So you have a post, with all waffle. No objective, it sounds some what rhetorical, and despite all the things you have asked - you haven't actually described what you want help with...

With that in mind, I'll be as general as I can...

Watch your positioning.
Use shields for armour...
Ok, bored already. Why is that? Maybe because it's all been said already...

Understanding, sycophantic, stubborn, game. These four words speak bounds for Heroes Ascent.

Multiple accounts is key.
Microphone.

I played with some people in a group. it was quite funny, on microphone they said I should go post on guru. I guess they had read things I had written but were never bright enough to argue with me calmly.

We had two migraine mesmers (and we had interrupts). Migraine slows up casting times, it RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs up the monk really. A good team won't need dual migraine because they will be good enough to take out two monks with one mesmer... We had two, our warrior called the monk. The infuser to be exact.

The mesmer shut me down, diverted/shamed etc, on a spike. Enemy had a shatter sin. I used gaurdian as a cover enchantment.

In GVG a team will say 'diversion incoming'. You have to understand HA players are CRAP at the game. They will block out monks, but then call them. They won't think, HEY THERE IS NO HEALING SO LETS KILL THE OFFENCE. Oh no, people are -bad- are Heroes Ascent. They won't think to interrupt enemies offence. You see, the best defence is offence. So if you shut down their offence, you have better defence; however, if you shut down their defence, and they wipe your defence. Then your offence gets no healing/protection. It dies. It doesn't really matter if you shut down the monks because, they don't have to heal shit anyway as after all, you aren't actually hitting anything...

But now, this is where the fun comes in! The team will assume you're bad, they will expect you to explain what happened. They won't be bright enough to see a mesmer, or even hear the loud noise of diversion on a team mate.

You may ask why I am writing this, well it will help but also, my team asked me to write on guru. I thought here is a good section, it will help rank13's who still absolutely suck at the game.

Being good is not just reflexes, low ping, it is about awareness and prediction. If you're a warrior, try to look at EVERYTHING happening in the game. You may think its hard, but go on vent and TURN OFF your headphones/speakers.

Forget being told what to do, forget being helped by people mid match. Think of it, as priority. If you spike every 10 seconds or enemy spikes every 10 second. It means you have free time.

To be a good warrior, you should want to see:

The enemies mesmer and how it is effecting the team.
The enemies energy.
Who is casting what.
What hex is on who.
What hex is about to be on who.
Who is unprotted.
who is about to be unprotted.
Who is about to be protted.
Who is about to be healed to full.
Who is about to lose health and easy to spike (infuser).
Who is standing in choke.
Who is snared.
Who got diverted.

Multi tasking sounds hard, but once you start doing bit by bit you learn to manage your time for it effectively.

This is where the microphone comes in and another account...

Get yourself a voice changer, give yourself a female voice. With the right grammar you can pull off being a female well... Surprisingly, you don't actually have to have the thing make you very girly. I also found (from personal experience) if you act a bit dumber than what you are, people will believe you're a female. Which is ironic, because females aren't less intelligent, it is just males like less intelligent females some of the time, because they are an easy lay.

Now when you have done this, you can chat up all the people from well known HA guilds and have a right laugh with people. You can notice how as a girl, the male is extremely weak. Yet, you as a male (with no microphone) the male thinks he is really strong...

Why is this important to HA? Well it gives you laughs, that is what games are for. To have fun, so while you can be in stitches of laughter, you can also take the game seriously... It's kind of like being a nerd, but also not being a nerd.

Sycophantic :

This means, suck up to people that seem high up. You may think they're crap players, but you stroke a guys dick - you have him for a night. You stroke a guys ego, you have him for life. This is essential when you are low rank (trust me).

By having multiple accounts, you can insult one of your accounts (who is actually you). This sounds bordering on insane, but it is not you see... It comes down to friendship...

If you have player a, b and C.

A hates B.
If C says (infront of A) that she hates B.
A will like C.

Enemies enemy is my friend tactic.

Now just show some knowledge about the game, exploit that you're a female and you'll have yourself a group with A.

Sometimes playing bad helps... It means you get kicked from the group... Then you change account, and then you role the team who kicked you - with your other account =).

They won't know it happened... The trick is, deception, magic.

P.S. If you have difficulties with the voice changer, just go to like myspace and make friend with a female who has a mic and a bit of an evil side. She'll soon talk on mic for you <3.

Aside from the multiple accounts advertisement, most of elektra's post is good advice to go by. On matter of principle I refuse to play badly at any point, and if I feel I'm going to, I don't play and go do some PvE.

Thing about PvP is patience, you must have it. You will have those days where nothing goes right, you will have those people who reject/hate/taunt you to no end, you will have to wade through gimmick after gimmick (on all levels) just to find some genuine skill. If this daunts you, go after Rank 6 KoaBD instead. If this invigorates you, I wish you the best of luck.

this is so far the only good post in this thread, so i'll add on to it:
you have a warrior?
make sure he's pvp ready. This is more than perfect armor, this is a:

superior vigor,

perfectly modded shield(or +29)

perfect switches(vampiric, ebon, furious, sundering, etc.)

shield switches. you need ATLEAST A fire +10, slashing +10, and a -5(20%), (for lesser pvp, i find fire +10 and -5 20 all thats needed)all on their own shield, and readily available.

a spear with perfect mods, usually furious>15^50>+30 that can be used to gain adrenaline.
