bleh. I don't think a player base that considers teleporting an issue will even consider AB a decent arena.

amen brother

for everybody on the other team you pwn, there are 4 nubs on your team getting pwned

It already takes really long to get matches, this would just lead to even longer wait times as well as AB rank discrimination (lol)

They should have done this when they first implemented ABs, at this point it's too late.

Separate queues. Separate title track.

This idea would be awesome, it's what I hoped for when AB originally came out. There were so many organized guild teams that just owned the hell out of everything, people were even making videos of it. Now it's just a pile of crap with people running shitty builds without elites and no self heals when they have no intention of getting a monk.

Organization made it awesome. I'd like to see the idea be awesome again.

Well, it's an Idea, not a good chance it will happen, but hey no harm in asking.

The way it would need to work is like this:

You would speak to the recruiter with your 4 man group in YOUR guild hall. You have a choice of going to where you go now, or register an Alliance team. Choose "Alliance Team" The recruiter would tell you that you are registered and that he is waiting on 2 more teams to register. SO, 2 more teams of 4 speak to him in YOUR guild hall. The recruiter then tells you that you are awaiting an opponet. Simular to the way GvG works, thought there will be no rankings to compare. Once a guild/alliance on the other side is fully registered, then off you go.

You could have the registration as 12 man and have the split happen inside automatically 1-4 5-8 9-12, either or.

You get the map that is currenty in play as decided by where the line is, these battles will have inpact on the line movement. None of this "Advanced AB" stuff. Keeping it simple gives it a beter chance of happening. I mean look waht happened to the Glad track, it all began with the simple idea of stopping ragers in RA (cause RA is just that important) and now there is a report system will half a does "reasons" and 5 win glad points, which took months to develop and implement with alot of "GRRRR" from the public.

4 man groups are a must to cancel party wide effects. No Heros, no Henchies.

Rewards are the same as regular AB. No new title track. And before you say "What? Why would I even go then?" Thats simple, your guild/Alliance on all 12 peeps with Vent with the builds you choose, you SHOULD (My least favorite word in teh world) have a better chance to win than PUGing regular, yes you may face teams that are really good and get waxed aswell, but you have a real good cahnce of doing that PUGing.

Regular AB also continues to exists for those in small guilds/alliances.

I suppose you could add a Ladder too, but a TA ladder first would be a very much gooder idea.

Thats all I got on the subject.

When you split an already small playerbase in two, you end up with 2 even smaller groups, revolutionary I know.

Organized Jade Quarry could be fun. AB would be a bit "bleh" though, what with Recall and all that nonsense still in the game.

I think the idea is really good. It's been around a while, and it still retains its attraction to me (having played with three alliance teams on vent at the same time, it's good times - even if synching AB is picking low hanging fruit )

The primary issue is presented is, in my opinion, that of splitting the player base. Twelve players at the same time can be quite hard to assemble and the number of possible opponents would probably be low if there were separate queues for organized and unorganized AB, meaning long and frustrating waits.

To address the "smaller player base" issue, I think that a new matching scheme would be best. Primarily match organized teams against other organized teams. If there are no other organized teams to match with, then match the set team with a random team. Sure, this might lead to some frustration on the part of the random teams, but as organized teams will be rare on the whole, this would hardly cripple AB.

In order to make team formation a bit easier, my attempt at solving the team making would be the following:
Once the team leader has assembled a group of four, he may press "Join Battle" and go with randomly selected companion groups. Instead of doing this, he may invite another group leader with a full group (forming a "supergroup" of three members, as it were). It's a decently simple scheme that builds on an already established paradigm and will make sure that even if you fail to get a full alliance team, you can pug groups in the AB lobby.

to make organised alliance battles take off you need the following

1) incentives to form large active alliances

- currently the list of benefits is small

i) pooling of faction to gain towns
ii) no cost for guesting
iii) make use of other guild halls NPCs
iv) alliance chat

- benefits that would encourage active alliances

i) re-invent factions alliance system - owning towns should provide many more benefits than cheaper keys.
ii) alliance battles should in some way have a much more influential impact on alliance status in the game and on the map.
iii) add more in-game recognition of successful alliances eg. alliances that have most success at organised AB... should be recognised somehow. They should enjoy actual in game benefits and/or rewards.

once the alliance system becomes more engaging... people will AB more. Organised AB should not suffer from poor activity as long as there were good incentives for participating (which currently there arent).

But then again it is a very real concern that if organised AB were to become too popular... the already tiny PvP player base would become split between GvG and AB.

Even if both modes were highly fun to play... splitting the playerbase like that would not be a wise move.

And this is probably why AB was not developed to become a major PvP activity apart from a faction farming arena.

I'm a bit confused. Not only is that post uninformative, but I can't even figure out if you're supporting the idea or not.

Is that "No, random pugs are more fun" or is that "Not having random pugs would be more fun"? Let's start there.

I was just wondering - for the people who are complaining about recall, have you tried it? Recall has a max distance I believe and the distance between several shrines are beyond that limit. Solo capping is also slow. I'd imagine shadowsteps would be much less of a problem as they are in HB but I do admit that organized AB will point out many flaws that probably couldn't have been foreseen otherwise.

Organized AB is a lot more fun. My guild has engaged in full luxon groups of 12 in battle, with the use of team builds, strategy and Ventrilo. Randomly pugging AB is rather discouraging for me at most times, being more of a GvG/HA player. It feels like being locked in a room full of retarded monkeys.

Jade quarry would be fun i mean, no one plays it now so you cant really make it any worse...

AB might not be mass recall battles with the base defenders in all, it would be cool to see how its played ^^.
