Default Would YOU be interested in fully-organized AB or Jade Quarry?

Okay, I mentioned this in the other thread, but it's kind of off-topic there. I'm not sure I've actually asked this in its own thread, so here goes. Suppose the following changes were made:

- Add a "Mercenary Recruiter" to the Temple of Balthazar. The Mercenary Recruiter allows you to go to the "Advanced" version of either side of the Alliance Battle line regardless of your allegiance, and allows you to go to "Advanced" Jade Quarry.

- Advanced Alliance Battles allows the creation of three teams of 4 players each by one leader, who is capable of selecting which of his three teams to add to.

- Advanced Jade Quarry allows you to form a team of up to 8 players.

- Both are in separate queues from the PUG versions of their respective formats and have their own title tracks.

....... would YOU be interested?

I'd try it, sure. That's one of the most frustrating things about AB, actually. Can't promise I'd give up my life to play it, but hey, you have to start somewhere...

A fully organized alliance battle may be actually quite fun though I'd like them to change some of the point mechanics if it is going to be that way. In fact, there is a lot of things that would need to be ironed out. How would maps be chosen? Would maps be chosen based on general ratings of some sort? For example, would a lower rating get a favoured map for them? Would the respawn times and no death penalty remain as they are? The list goes on and on.

It might make more people try out the PvP side of things if they can get the appropriate crutches and handicaps to learn how to do things. I'd like to say that everything would be positive and great but that's just not the case.

Unfortunately, I don't think splitting the pvp population further is really going to inject new life into GW at the moment - not to mention the work involved. In short, I'd be interested but there just so much other stuff on Anet's platter already. It just doesn't seem feasible since there are current shortcomings to the overall pvp system even though each format has it's strengths. Some more than others of course... but I digress.

Just keep it based on the normal line progression. The momentum bonus kind of ensures it'll bounce back and forth anyway and ensures that the general chaos of the PUG groups keeps the maps rotating.

The reward system is the only thing that really needs adjustment (to keep rewards worthwhile on both sides), and there are pretty simple ways to automatically calculate that.

Yes. I'm not proposing gameplay changes.

Doing it for Jade Quarry would probably be trivial. Clone the zones, clone the mission maps, add an NPC with a couple chat options that port you, raise the zone team limit, done.

Doing it for AB would be a bit more complicated and require interface changes. Could be simplified slightly by allowing teams to just select their two allies.

I would join a large guild the moment they would implement that and AB my frigging @ss off yes. The way you describe it you could even PUG it. You would just need team leaders you know and trust. Yesterday I got another AB night with my guild and we won 1 battle out of 10 while we constantly pwned everything in sight. I don't have much to add to your means of implementing it, so I'd just say /signed. Just don't add a title track please, or just keep the old one. Only allow people with > x balthazar in the 'advanced' arena. I would like 1 form of PvP without farmers.

Truer words never spoken, friend. And yeah, I'd love to do AB again if I knew I wouldn't have to worry about leechers, dumbasses who only care about 1v1 ego skirmishes, and could have my entire team on voice chat.

I would be interested. At least if you lose, you know which team screwed up and what they did. Would avoid randomways also.

A fully organized AB would be so freakin cool. Seriously. They should've introduced that from the start. It would be 24 A/x and x/A's running circles, but it would be so awesome.

I personally like fort aspenwood better since there has to be direct confront, and not just so much running. I'm not so sure about jade quarry because I've managed to play it once or twice, and I don't think organized AB would be good; AB is kinda popular, and organizing it would mean balance the game around it as well. I just think it's too late for that.

that would get owned by splitting, I think I personally would complain about cripshots all over the place :P. But seriously, things like 'battle rage' will keep you away from big mobs quite easily. I am more worried about balance issues tbh, there's no point in making another arena when it turns lame in one month, and balancing GW around GvG, HA AND AB will be a pain.

ROFL, like 80% of my own builds I use in there :P. Eles however are the class with the best speeds boosts in there imho (flame djinn's gogogo).

Uhm. I think AB got lame one month after Factions came out. Instead of interesting builds and organized teams, we have 3x PuG that use mending wammoses, Mesmers with Arcane Thievery and other crap (+ Signet of Illusion), A/W spikers, tanks... I would like to have fully-organized AB, I don't care about JQ.

You misunderstand me, when people start playing AB for real, other builds will develop. People will start thinking about what combination has the best possibility to win games. There might be hidden lameness we didn't even hear about yet. Right now AB is just about as lame as you want it to be (Good place to run completely disturbed builds with an amazing chance of success).

I was very interested in organized AB, but i'm not anymore. Correctly implemented in gw2 it would rock the world though.

Also, on the topic of helping non-gvg pvp: TA LADDER!

I actually think that it would have been something completely awesome.

However i dont want to see the player base diluted, unless it would manage to help convert pve nubs.
