Andrew Patrick: My post has yet to be answered and was wondering if you could respond to the matter.

Dishonorable Combatant System
Assassins
/report emote
Text Fade (has been taken care of with the most recent updates, thanks a mil)

These are issues that a multitude of the community have unanimously agreed upon (except for those who: wish death to the assassin class, care nothing about grinding PvP titles and intentionally abuse other players via the automated punishment system). I respectfully request that you address these items (when you have a spare moment).

Thanks again.

I disagree with your interest in fiddling with skills a lot. Balancing needs to be more objective. What really needs to be addressed is the requirement to take certain skills in order to deal with other skills, as it drives the game into either running something that tries to cover many things, or running something that cuts its losses in one area to excel in another. That's always been the case but efforts to stop it have often been fruitless.

What is definately required is to look into addressing the causes of issues and not just temporarily fixing the issues. It's clear from the past they'll just resurface, even if the packaging is slightly different.

There is nothing wrong with the dishonorable combatant system. The only people who don't agree with it were the people causing the problems - leaving and leeching.
I can kill someone with an assassin, why can't you?
People who intentionally abuse the report system get the punishment themselves, unless everyone starts abusing it which is very unlikely.

Where did you get the idea that everyone agrees with your ideas?

Players who report a team member for leeching without a third of their team also reporting that player will also receive 2 dishonor points.
Yes there is something wrong. You can also add that you can't resign in AB without getting 5 points.

You should be punished for reporting someone who isn't leeching. if someone leeches, they will be reported.

if you resign in an AB you are abandoning 2 other teams

its fine

Game updates, even nerfs, are always good.

Although that is true for the most part, there are certain cases, even if small, where the dishonor system could be more forgiving and flexable. If someone on your team disconnects, or never connects to the match, I'd say it's wrong to punish the rest of the team for not wanting to play a disadvantaged match. Similiarly, if someone on the team leaves (and gets dishonor) it has effectivly ruined the match for the rest of his team, and as above, so not be punished for not wanting to continue. But strangly enough, there are people who think the oppose, and that people should be forced to stay in them conditions.

That said, the Dishonor system as it is now, was still a good measure.

The team won't get punished because they can resign and end the match early if they want.

Why would anyone want to resign in AB? You just carry on an get the best score you can out of it, it's all worth Faction.

In theory, Yes.
In practice, No.

The dishonorable combatant and report systems are, and likely will always be points of contention. Those who use the report system love it. Those who are reported hate it. Many like knowing that the people who abandon their team mid battle are mildly punished, while obviously, those leaving matches would much rather do so without consequence.

The designers added this feature because they feel that players should feel safe going into random-based team PvP without half of their team quitting or leeching. They felt that leavers and leechers were a major problem, and feel confident that the current system is, indeed, improving that situation. We are all aware that not everyone agrees with the system, and I have passed on feedback from both sides of the topic, but ultimately, we are happy with the system and feel it improves PvP for the majority of players.

Are you saying resigning is giving dishonorable points?

No, I mean how many people actually resign, even if you ask.

EDIT: What the above guy said.

Ah, yes, the infamous "I don't know how to spell /resign" crowd. That has been an issue since /resign was added, and frankly, I don't know what can be done from a design standpoint, but I can ask about it. I think it's really a community driven issue, rather than a flaw in the system. It is sort of on par with people refusing to res you, or in PvE, leeryoing into 5 mobs at once. It's annoying, for sure, but its players being annoying, not the game being annoying.

Luckily the time limit makes it so you won't need to wait too long if someone refuses to resign, and short handed, the match likely won't even reach that limit before being over. I do agree it is annoying, but it is a much less frequent issue compared to the issue leavers were causing before. But while we are on the topic, any suggestions for improvements?

Yes.

-Add Report to the menu in the bottom left and let people type in a persons name inside the Report Window (some people don't even know the damn report thing EXISTS)
-add a Help button or something that will give a person detailed info on what all the stuff specifically means in case if someone doesnt know what LEECHER is, explain the Dishonor system in it as well (tons of players dont read update notes) EDIT: inside the report window

I think these are just important steps that should be taken to implementing the thing into the game correctly.

where is the skill balance completely reverting the poorly thought-out and badly implemented assassin nerfs of the past months, and giving them the buffs they actually need? (l-o-d and the multitude of skills that are potentially good but hindered by cost/cooldown?)

assassins are fine

123 classes should never be extremely viable anyways

For some reason doing a /report on someone for spamming ads in a PvP staging area, never seems to stop their spamming regardless of how many people /report the spammer. What's the story there? That spam crap ever few seconds spoils the local PvP discussions/debates.
