Default Idea for a spike team (ranger)

Hello, while in school today i began thinking of a spike utilizing the EoTN skill "Sloth Hunter's Shot". This powerful skill relies on the fact that your enemy is not using skills. But what if they CANT use skills? This is my idea.

5 Rangers
2 Monks
1 Mesmer

Rangers
Sloth Hunter's Shot
Debilitating Shot
Punishing Shot
Kindle Arrows
(Insert IAS)
(Insert Utility)
(Insert Nature Ritual)
Res sig

Mesmer/Assassin
Blackout
(Various Shadow Steps)

Monks
Typical Monk Builds.

The main idea here is that the mesmer shadow steps to target, blackouts someone, then the rangers spike with Sloth and Punishing, leave Debilitating out of the initial spike. The bonus from Sloth WILL happen because the target CANT use skills. Nature rituals like winnowing and Favorable Winds and wait...what's that...Muddy Terrain??!?!?!? Yes I find Muddy Terrain to be a very useful ritual as it slows, while also making it impossible to speed up. Frozen Soil might work too if one of the rangers goes R/Rt with skills to destroy your own spirit in case of emergency. The secondary spike here, which is used to apply pressure while blackout recharges is the debilitating shot / punishing shot spike. Most enemy Monks will not expect to suddenly lose 55 energy and wont have time to switch to their high energy set. So this is my idea and any input or suggestions are welcomed. I will not argue to the death that my ideas are right if they are indeed wrong so feel free to make any BENFICIAL suggestions.

r-spike has been done before, usual uses 3 rangers and a paragon and a rit for defence and to help in spike.

very helpful post...thanks..

NOT.

PS: I like the idea. E-Management might be tough on the Mesm though.

Kindle Arrows is bad and you don't need an IAS.

It would be a bit easy to catch though, wouldn't it? Just watch the Mesmer and see who he/she Blackouts.

There's no need for Punishing Shot. You don't need that many Rangers. You won't be spiking frequently enough. Read the Wind would make more sense than Kindle Arrows since there's no point in speccing into Wilderness Survival. A two monk backline with no support characters will get rolled against the heavy pressure teams in HA.

Rangers spikes have been done before and better.

Less rangers + more dual shot + more orders is key.

Regardless of how well it would or wouldn't work, it's a very clever concept.

Bingo. The rangers builds are semi decent, but that 2 monk backline would be crushed quickly. Drop the mesmer and add Another monk. Drop one of the rangers and add a paragon (in which case, use Keen Arrow coupled with GftE). Then you might be onto something. But that wouldn't really be a new build, and punishing shot is inferior compared to dual shot + savage with Glass Arrows. The build would work with some adjustments, but unfortunately, there are just better alternatives for an R-Spike. Good attempt at a build though.

That also is fun. I love tanking on a mesmer, brings rays of happy sunshine to my life (but alas, my monks HATE me)

Your monks are going to be owned so hard they won't even know what hit them.

Well you could bring assassin/mesmer. Blackout would still work. What's with all the peoples obvious sarcasm these days, it's not original, funny or good.

dual+savage on a glass arrows ranger is the most powerful ranger spike available...
use melandru's arrows if you feel confident the other team will have a lot of enchantments.
4 glass/melandru's rangers with: FW, WW, MT and spirit of choice, QZ and NR/Tranq combo come to mind
1 orders necro with OoV and blood ritual
1 defensive spirit spammer/paragorn
2 monks, any combo which works for you, keep in mind that if using NR/Tranq you should be avoiding enchantments as much as possible thus RC with WoH/ZB or HB will work best

I'd say take 3 rangers, the me/a and a paragon. Take 4 rangers if your not going for perfect spikes. Me/A shadowsteps to prot and blacks him out if u count down the spike. No spirit bond = gg, since r-spikes are usually fast enough not to be able to be infused, unless your a complete naab caller and your spikers suck.
