Glyph of Energy was the only reason Dragon Stomp/EQ ever saw play on mesmers. I have no idea why you would run it on a Glyph of Renewal mesmer unless you felt like being particularly silly.

Meh you pretty much use esurge for spikes, (surge+shatter) and to help blow up npcs at vod. Besides that, its kinda dumb. Yay for anet not making any really useful dom elites.

it destroys npcs at vod, is 96 damage on spikes, it can pressure well, gives control over energy after pleaks, grinds down eles with hexbreaker and is in the best attribute line for a balanced mesmer. you called it dumb.. why?

Well like i said, its good for killing npc's and spiking. Its not wtf amazing, thats all really. Goe/gale is still viable i guess, but not quite as good since it doesnt completely power shatter/mirror.

We've been running a power block mesmer lately in our gvg's its good with co-ordination. I still feel though personally that Esurge is the most rounded dom elite out there.

In most of the guilds i've been in i've played core mesmer, E-Surge is by far the best well rounded elite as it can do AoE dmg, it drains energy, and allows mesmers to assist on spikes outside of shatter

although, i tend to run GoR mesmers alot because if your mesmer knows what hes doing with them he can cause a full on team wipe for the opponents throwing out shame/diversion at twice the normal rate

personally I really love pblock, and was running it up until about 2 weeks ago, but I have to say as a mesmer, if you have a ranger on your team that you trust and have good chemistry with then pblock is almost...overkill. I switched to esurge and I feel overall it's working a lot better because we can coordinate good shame spikes, and I don't have to concern myself as much with aegis because I know he'll usually keep most of them down, so the pblock just kind of becomes pointless and pretty much provides the same pressure that a pleak and a shame will do. But there is really nothing like a good pblock on the RC's aegis.

I also like pblock against glyph conc and mantra conc teams and will usually pack it in an AT if I know we're going to be facing something like A/D spike.

Glyph renewal is also an amazing elite, but with the meta set to spike, my team won't let me go in without flesh on my bar atm so that's out for me, but this is definately a very strong elite that's about the closest you can get to the old MoR dom mes, and in some respects is at times greater than that old bar because you can coordinate some nasty edenial with double pleaks and double shames. This elite is much better in a pressure build.

GoE is another great elite, but I think it really only shines in skirmish play and can be used to generate kills on solo monks as well as adren denial on warriors. Very versatile elite which is why it works so well in a split build.

Esurge I think ultimately wins, not so much because it is a strong elite, but rather because of VoD mechanics. Another thing I like about esurge over running another elite and a burn for spikes is that if several targets are balled up, its a lot harder for a monk to preprot the spike where as burn gives a pretty clear indication of where the spike is going to land if it gets there before the deep wound does.

As for alternatives (within a balance), I would consider packing phychic instability if it was slightly tweaked to A. go through mantra conc and glyph conc (meaning the kd lands on the interrupt, thus interrupting the skill) and the KD is increased to a 2 second duration. If that happened I would definately consider bringing it with me.

I would like to see Edrain redefined into an elite version of pdrain, something like:

target foe's spell is interrupted and loses 1-8 energy and you gain 2 energy for each point lost. 15 second cool down, 5 energy. I would also consider running this if anet adjusted it to my specs

this might be off topic, but its still pretty relevent and is pretty good to use on GoE mesmers.

[glyph of essence][diversion]

this is deadly, and energy can be sustainted quite well with GoE on your bar with this.

But then you are essentially giving up 3 skills for a sure-hit diversion. In LoD days, that might have been okay. But now teams bring red bars and prot on both monks, have bsurge and aegis, or split to the point where a key diversion won't much matter. A better tactic is pressure, imo, by virtue of domination skills besides diversion.

i think that giving diversion a sure hit on bsurge is pretty good.

no wait, forgot about current meta with hex breaker, gay fgts.....

its still pretty good for getting crip shot, other diversions, rc and woh.

edrain is pretty good already, its just not incorporated into the meta, idk why though, should be.

using this +40/40 set +ether phantom +drain delusions is really rape on energy.

thats like 19-38 energy lost every 10 seconds
