Default Frustration Mesmers?

[frustration]

So I've known about this skill, but I guess I never really gave it much thought. I came across it the other day and saw potential in it, and I'd be surprised if nobody else has. I've experimented with it on Monks in RA and it works pretty well (granted Monks in RA usually aren't as skilled as GvG Monks). This is the build I use, though there's many variations, including changing the elite:

[build prof=Me fas=3 dom=12+2 ill=12+4][Illusion of Weakness][Migraine][Frustration][Web of Disruption][Shatter Delusions][Cry of Frustration][Signet of Disruption][resurrection signet][/build]

There's no second profession in mine which is kind of a letdown and possibly a waste, though there's certainly leeway for one - possibly a hard res, though fast casting is lacking in the build. I'm kind of unsure as to whether a different elite skill would be put to better use in this sort of build, though the slower casting definitely does help (since Frustration only gives 50%). Something like Wastrel's Collapse would be rather interesting (but very odd), especially since a knockdown can provide an extra interrupt (and therefor some extra damage), not to mention ample time. Illusion of Weakness is helpful, but certainly not necessary, and I think in a GvG something along the lines of Diversion or Shame would be more useful. I'm quite content with all of the other skills, but like I said, there's lots of room for change in this build.

Yeah, so I want to see everyone else's opinion as to what this can do. Maybe it's a total miss or maybe people are already doing it, I dunno. Share your thoughts, opinions, etc.

For ra, both migraine and frustration is overkill. Leave it to ha mesmers, who can only mindlessly spam interrupts on monks. Something alone the lines of this would be better:

[migraine][imagined burden][conjure phantasm][cry of frustration][power drain][drain enchantment][no skill][resurrection signet]

If you want frustration in there instead, use ineptitude.

So it's not of much use in GvG, then? Maybe so, with all the hex removals. I suppose at the very least you could Migraine and Frustrate two different people. It's not impossible to keep a covered hex up, after all. And how does Ineptitude substitute Frustration?...

the new [psychic instability] is strictly better than [wastrel's collapse] imo.

i have never seen frustration in anything other than hex spam HA builds and RA. Also migraine + frustration is definitely overkill, but personally i like having an elite free for small pvp like RA and TA. but if you think about it, migraine is drastically better than frustration for high end plays where timing is everything. migraine is also better in the sense that you are not supposed to interrupt every single spell the enemy uses, only key spells. the others are less important, and so making them cast for another half second longer than frustration adds up a lot over time and puts tremendous pressure on monks.

anyways, thats how i see it.

They're both bad elites, psychic instability has no use since power drain/leak/block and cry will always have better end effects to them.

i didnt say it was good, its not hard to be better than wastrel's collapse. i just thought he really wanted a spell range KD.

I sometimes use this build on my Me, in random arenas, alliance battles and Fort Aspenwood:

[Nightmare Lord;OQBEAXwCO4cByB1geaLIDs1QBA]

You can replace Ethereal Burden with a Rez if you want/need or if
you are doing RA.
The point in having Ethereal Burden is to kite melee opponents (who have
no hex removal equipped), while slowly degenerating their health.

Other good options are [Illusion of Haste]
[Drain Enchantment]

Migraine and Frustration are not redundant to each other, both are
needed in the build.

This build is probably not the best out there, but it's a great fun to play,
and easy too. You can destroy most casters 1v1, and sometimes 2 casters
single handedly, if they are not playing good.

i really like PI... its light on your energy, tied to nothing, and can be paired with a multitude of builds.. plus its unconditional for the int..

maybe thats just me though. i dont really run it a lot or anything, but i wouldn't really call it "bad".
