Your job as a warrior is to kill, attacking whichever target is the most vulnerable/least protected. However a warrior can also defend in a way, and that practice is called "linebacking".

The choice of whether to pressure or lineback depends mainly on the "momentum" you have on the opposing team. If they're eating a lot of damage and you feel your target is going down any second, don't let go even if your monk is about to die: if he does, someone will res him and YOUR target will die. If you feel like you're not doing much yet and see your monk in deep trouble, it may be a good idea to switch to that pesky warrior, toss a bull's or shock on him and buy your healer a couple seconds to breathe and stay alive.

Also, judge your targets by build and status rather than primary class. If an E/D or a stance monk is happily tanking your face, you're better off switching to your elemental axe and unloading on that warrior who's happily frenzying away without a prot on himself.
