Is it bad if I've only seriously played HA 2 times and I'm sitting at about 900 fame? I know that isn't alot to a good bit of you, but seeing as it only took 2 weekends...I can't complain. 5 SF Eles/1 Monk during the time HA was 6 man was pretty laughable for the other team...spike every 2-3 seconds made for easy fame.

the solution is almost never found in the bar. its found in the player.

player=50% skill bars =20% tactics =30%.
Learn the meta - do this by NOT playing meta, do this by learning from the mistakes made (if any) while playing against the meta.

Play it- This teaches you nothing, yes some builds are non buttonbash but you gain no skill out of this. Since none of the meta builds require any coordination you will not build on your skill level. If the build is noob proof this ultimately means that it can easily be shut down.

Never stay in it longer than it takes to learn - dont stay in meta.

Find That Weakness/Exploit that weakness - easily targetable without playing the meta. (i.e. SWAY with R/W thumpers instead of R/Ds, any balanced team just shut down OoA and had Aura of Stability.

As for your percentages these are not accurate since you cannot set a rate of percent to how much skill, how the bar is being played, or the tactics being used. This altars for every team, every map, and every scenario.

Since the OP of this thread is a newbie (not noob) playing the meta defonately helps him getting the mechanics, positioning, just basic skills for HA.

I dont understand why you cant see this.

mechanics....possibly
positioning...definately not. R/D that try to play war cant position themselves properly to spike, pressure, or simple KD locks. Monks dont learn to position from N/Rts. Monks learn how to position from playing monk over time. Eles dont learn how to snare precisely from playing a R/D with crip, they learn this from playing an ele.

Yes meta is good to learn from as a newbie, but playing against the meta will attain you the most skill in a shorter period of time. Since rank means nothing in this game now, or never did, your skill will let you shine when you form your own skilled teams.

I remember when is started off, i tried the meta ye it was fun back then and it got the job done, once i started to play balanced around my r3 time i obtained a more universal outlook on HA. I learned the mechanics through trial and error on balanced approaches. If you want to play meta you will usually stick to meta, since nowadays skilled players are hard to come across, meta builds are the only resort for most. Just try to avoid this as soon as you can. Thus starting against meta, means you will most of the time be against metas.

Create metagame, dont play it.

Positioning is not just beeing able to be on the right place for a spike, its also not balling up (as midliner, say Rt or even N/Rt in sway, which btw is not the only meta), knowing where to go when pushing up falling back etc.
Btw Mechanics and positioning were just 2 examples of basic skills.
You are thinking in a 2 high level, remember he is starting, so he doesnt get in contact with stuff you said.

Also playing against the meta will make you improve more, but since as a newbie playing against the meta isnt gonna work nowadays, because at that level playing meta is the only way of winning. And losing/making mistakes is not the only way to improve. Because theres more maps beyond UW/Fetid river.

When hes got a few ranks by playing meta (not necessarily Sway) I hope he will start playing more balanced builds so he can actually contribute to the overall HA community instead of RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing it up by keep playing gimmick builds, and like you said: Creating the Metagame.

Grz,

Timmeh

and this advice is coming from a guy that got rolled by a rank 6 team because he couldnt kite? but instead stands there and cries like a baby at
the other guy for not shutting him down?

or what about his monk skills? cant even out heal sway team?

with all his anti meta"wisdom" and learning from mistakes, last i heard,
he still does hte same things, stands there and cries at someone else
when he dies instead of kiting.

the mighty xobile leeches off good players and gets carried to halls on thier
builds.

i must still be a legend in HA even though i havent even played a round in over a year. and the last time i went against him i rolled him with a rank 6 pug group! i dont even remmber what buld we were playing, some test build is all i remember. and he was in id 1 STILL after we got out of hallls crying about it! and ovioulsy hasnt gotten over it to this day!

grow up dude and get over it. you get rolled every day by noobs untill your core group comes n so u can leech of thier skill and get your sorry ass carried to halls in nub hour. thats the only time you ever play is nub hour.

simply put the guy is a scrub, and does not play to win.he thinks heis too "leet" to run a meta bar
so instead stands there and cries about his losses and seeks me out on the internet to start a flame war.Proving me right about what i said and he knows it thats why he seeks to try to take me down a notch! i got new for you nub, you cant touch me.you cant reach my level of play.
its so far beyond you that you cant understand it and seems folish to you. thats how far beyond you it is.in fact you still dotn know wtf happened last time i roled ou in that rank 6 pug.

In the world of Street Fighter competition, we have a word for players who aren’t good: “scrub.” Now, everyone begins as a scrub—it takes time to learn the game to get to a point where you know what you’re doing. There is the mistaken notion, though, that by merely continuing to play or “learn” the game, that one can become a top player. In reality, the “scrub” has many more mental obstacles to overcome than anything actually going on during the game. The scrub has lost the game even before it starts. He’s lost the game before he’s chosen his character. He’s lost the game even before the decision of which game is to be played has been made. His problem? He does not play to win.

The scrub would take great issue with this statement for he usually believes that he is playing to win, but he is bound up by an intricate construct of fictitious rules that prevent him from ever
truly competing.

Historical Scrub: Neville Chamberlain. He didn't even try to win, instead offering "appeasement" to Hitler.

These made up rules vary from game to game, of course, but their character remains constant. In Street Fighter, for example, the scrub labels a wide variety of tactics and situations “cheap.” So-called “cheapness” is truly the mantra of the scrub. Performing a throw on someone often called cheap. A throw is a special kind of move that grabs an opponent and damages him, even when the opponent is defending against all other kinds of attacks. The entire purpose of the throw is to be able to damage an opponent who sits and blocks and doesn’t attack. As far as the game is concerned, throwing is an integral part of the design—it’s meant to be there—yet the scrub has constructed his own set of principles in his mind that state he should be totally impervious to all attacks while blocking. The scrub thinks of blocking as a kind of magic shield which will protect him indefinitely. Why? Exploring the reasoning is futile since the notion is ridiculous from the start.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT, R3!!!! :X I stood up a bit later last night to try to see if I can get R3 before the event ended ^^ and I did ^^ Now I can start getting into more diverse groups and maybe win HoH a few times(Yea I'm out of my mind I know, but I'm happy ^^)

Btw, played RSpike, SFway,Sway, and Ele-Randomway to get it ^^. I personally don't like spikes 'cause they an tend to fudge up by one simple mistake But Ele-Randomway was fun ^^.

And also...I thought EoE Bomb was like...nerfified...apparently there's a new version now...that works O_o, gone against it a few time, won most of the time from learning to stay back ^^, but lost sometimes from others not learningto stay back O_o.

Thanks for the help & Support ^^ I'm going to try to play more proffessions and builds, except maybe the caller, I personally don't like calling .

This post can be locked ^^

Edit:
Yes, I use too much "^^" ^^

At least you tried.....

shall i bring back some memeories aswell?
Blurred Vision (prenerf), Freezing Gust, Frozen Burst....and you couldnt shut down 1 of 2 warriors lol nice joke. I rage at you and you cant even take constructive critisism next time think before you type you wont make such a joke out of yourself.

As for leeching? ever consider me being a good player? leeching would mean i do nothing for the team, but instead alot of the games are won with the team coming together, there is no 1 person that calls all the shots, yes the leader made the strat calls but at anytime where i or anyone else felt it was not good we would definatley ackknowledge that.

As for you being a legend? lol please man get over yourself. You dont play anymore and i respect that, but dont tell people something that you arent. Being a legend over the net is just failure itself.

Being rolled by an r6 team can occasionaly happend, if you look at the players i may of had or the skill they possessed. Yes it wasnt a core team and i never expect anything from it....il admit ive lost to r3s i dont care at all, it helps learn from mistakes like i clearly stated earlier.

My monking skills? first off i dont even monk as primamy in HA. Second off i dont remember monking off against you. Third if i was a monk against you when we played how can you call it my team, because i have never led a team as a monk.

Next time think about who you are, and what youre trying to say so i dont have to come back here and ridicule you in your embarassing posts.

lol... leeching?? he obviously doesn't leech. Leeching will only get you so far. Obviously (well, not so obvious to you, apparently as you are too stupid to wrap your head around this) You can't get to be #2 in the world by leeching. You are dumb. dumb dumb dumb dumb. FAIL EPIC FAIL AT LIFE YOU NOOBY MCNOOB PANTS. Well, atleast you tried to make fun of one of the best players in the world. But, seriously, stop. NOOB NUB stoopid kid
