Default Quick question - Wary Stance

I see 90% of monks using Disciplined Stance in TA but, is Wary Stance viable? Same duration, 5 sec less recharge, guaranteed to block attack skills and has e-gain, but has the drawback of not being able to use skills.

And how much does the average monk spec into tactics?

I mo/w usually puts 6 points in tactics, sometimes 10, if they want to get the additional 8 armor from the shield. the latter can only be done on pure healer or pure protter, however (I think 14/11/10 is how the attribute points look like, with the highest one correlating to the main heal elite [be it a ZB or a WoH], the middle one to the df and the last one to tactics attribute). I think that even the former option (6 in tact) is hard, if one is specced in prot as well as heal line (15 or 14/11/9 is how the points look like, i think).

I tried vary stance a few times and i found it way too energy intensive, not to mention it blocks attack SKILLS only, which means that in close-to-death situations it wont help you survive if physicals will just simply use their dps to bring you down. Moreover, because it only blocks attack skills, you are not able to remove cruical conditions such as daze from yourself. Unlike disciplined stance, wary stance doesnt give any additional armor, so it is generally inferior to the former.

Well, Wary Stance only blocks attack skills while Disciplined also blocks normal attacks.

I used to run 10 tactics so i could get the armor benefit from a tactics shield.

EDIT: urania was faster <.<

hehe :P

I used to run ZB monk with 10 in tactics, and it was quite nice. If one adds a weapon with a corresponding +7 armor vs xy to the shield, it makes it funny seeing rodgorts do only 70 damage or evisc hit for like...40 damage, or sth close to that.

I prefer to use 8 tactics for a 4 second diciplined and use a q7 15al shield (or q8 16al if you have one)

Minotaurs in elona reach like wary stance. Minotaurs are stupid. That says something about wary stance

Plus, 10 energy is a lot, so the shorter recharge isn't going to help you. Anyone with half a brain will just c-space you until the duration runs out, then spike and laugh.

Nah, I'm sure the Shattering sin would just train thru it like they train thru Disciplined Stance.

60 base al
+16 from shield (9 tactics)
+10 vs (damage type)
+15 when suffering from a condition

101 al. Pretty nice.

You can go 11+1+1 healing, 8+1 prot, 8+1 divine, 9 tactics - This will allow you to reach the 15 sec breakpoint for spotless with an enchanting staff and the shield breakpoint for 16 more al. This is best if you have a q8 shield.

Or you can go 11+1+1 healing, 10+1 prot, 8+1 divine, 6 tactics - This will allow you to reach the 15 sec breakpoint for spotless with an enchanting staff and give you a 6 second guardian instead of 5.

But it agree it's best to put 10 points in tactics if you plan to take advantage of the al from your shield. It's a bit risky with only 9 tactics if you get hit by devastating hammer for example you lose half your shield bonus.

Wait, you use +15 when suffering from condition? Isn't the whole idea with conditions that you get them off?

Well you can generally remove the conditions but that will take 1 second or so so all after spike and after spike damage is reduced + isnt apply poison spammable?

Req 7 with 15 AL inscribable tactics shields are not that rare and a great asset for monks.

Wary stance is too expensive and well ... you might wanna use skills as monk don't you?

Req 7 doesn't really do anything... you either run 12,11,6 or 12,10,8 (or 11,11,8).

I suppose a r6 +14AL shield would be nice, though.

Apart from the thing that a proper req8 shield with inscription costs at least 100k and you can get a req7 for 20k. And the WoD necros keep using weakness on the monk.

But ye.. other than that, why bring req7 when you use 8 tactics!

Enraging Charge is a Strength Stance for Warriors, I think you meant Enervating Charge?
