Default Anet doesn't care (read: Anet doesn't give a shit) about balanced play anymore

Seriously. I won't even bother arguing about what build is OP or what skills are OP. But when the skills are clearly bugged, and they don't get fixed, it makes gameplay completely retarded.

For example, chilling victory's extra damage trigger.

Also, the fast recharge on MoI even when the signet is interrupted.

Or the promised non conjure+SoH stacking?

The dervsmite is already borderline on being OP but I won't go there. Having these bugs really push it over the edge.

This game is shit not only because no one cares anymore and there is barely any high level competition, but because simple bugs take 2+ years to get fixed (even if it eventually gets done, like I think with the chilling now), and players lose faith in Anet's ability to get the most basic things done.

But seriously, ask yourself, is it that much to get simple bugs fixed? I don't even care about the DF honor vs rawrfortress debate. I just want to play a competitive game where people aren't abusing bugs here and there. Is it too much to ask now? Or should I just follow everyone else and finally give up on the game.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg on the list of broken/bugged things.

Check out this post, it details a great awakening for ArenaNet:

Come on Divine, do you really think we're that stupid?

We already knew Anet don't care since a while back.

I think the laziest "bug that was never fixed" was, and still is, Touch Rangers. Sure it's a stupdi gimmick, but it only works because of a bug with Expertise. Expertise was not supposed to affect the two Necro touch skills.

Did they fix the bug? Nope, they rewrote the description of Expertise so that it matches what it was doing. Now they just say "it's not a bug, that's what expertise says it does." yeah... after you change the description to fit the behavior, instead of the other way around.

Obvious news is obvious.

Like I said, I'm giving it 2 months. If the game isn't REMARKABLY better by the end of August, that's it for me.

Actually, the Guild Wars description when you hovered over it has always been wrong. It's always reduced the energy cost of all non-spell skills, the only problem is is that the description was wrong.

It's been that way since it was implemented a longggg time ago.

Also touch rangers blow anyways.

There hasn't been a person who would listen like the way Alex Weeks did when he was with NCSoft.

That letter was a good compilation of everything I've been posting in campfire about how shit this game in and how little Anet cares anymore about anything. I warned a month in advanced that the PvP/PvE skill separation would not only screw up balance, but also ruin the way PvE is played. And guess what, we get SF and everyone's complaining about ecto prices now. I think the lesson learned is that Anet doesn't care and no matter how accurate we've been in foreseeing things before, they won't listen because they rather make money off the bad populace than make a good game. Because really, you don't need a good game to make money; you just need a popular one that's attractive to new buyers.

It's a bug.. it didn't do what it was intended to. Instead of fixing it, they changed the intention of it.

Actually I think it was intended the entire time and the description for Expertise was just never updated. It's not really for you or me to say, though.

An Open Letter to ANet - Part 2 http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10297855

This open letter to Anet is epically written.

but....whats the point of saying, "THIS GAME IS SHIT! ANET DOES NOT CARE! SHOULD I FOLLOW EVERYONE ELSE AND LEAVE?" ...seriously man...after "An Open Letter to ANet - Part 2"...lets just wait and find out what they are going to do next instead of crying and saying that are bad bad bad....

Avarre provided a solution....you just complain and started a flame thread against ArenaNet....it would be nice if you close your own thread please...

The point of the topic is:

Anet doesn't care (read: Anet doesn't give a shit) about balanced play anymore

But WHO is he to state such a bold statement that Anet does not care? This is from their last update: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Arena...eloper_Updates

What is the point of flaming and threatening to leave the game? You can leave and come back anytime...thats the beauty of this game....

No game is perfect and it is sad to see that some players will never understand that...

Apparently he's Divine Ambassador, who is r6 KOABD, in one of the best guilds in the entire freaking game, and is a mod.

BUT WHAT DO I KNOW.

The developer update was a bunch of bullshit man. BUFF SYMBOLIC STRIKE TO IMPROVE SWORD DAMAGE my ass.

I think Izzy got the new "reason generator" that goes with the new dart boards, so it comes up with its own fake reasons for buffing/nerfing stuff too. Not even 5% of that update was decent or fixed anything of note.

Guild Wars was perfect fyi. The GWWC/GWFC (more of the former, than latter) were the pinnacle of game balancing.

ps. what you're basically saying is no one has a right to bring any formal complaints against any product, because no product is ever perfect, which is complete bullshit and against every feasible economic and business law in existence, and is basically dumb.

I, along with many of the people that actually get to see some of the things done behind public forum "open letters," have made suggestions since the game came about. Some of those people have made many more suggestions than what Avarre did in a simple letter. At first, there was actually a response and they cared about the thoughts of people who arguably have the best understanding of the game. Now, it seems like they do what's best for making a profit, and that's not good for the game. Since you don't know about a lot of the things done behind the scenes, I'll forgive your ignorance and let you have your high hopes.

I'm no Ensign, but when Ensign gets tired of how bad the game's shape is because of Anet's unresponsiveness and quit the game, you know it's bad.
sorry to disappoint i failed second grade and bought my way into the higher grades by cheating

I miss Ensign.

A lot.

The only thing even barely keeping GvG and people going is really rawr and dR now that DF got pawned off. StS etc are all good but there's no one now even close to the old iQ, WM, EvIL, etc...and there never will be, because of the bad things ArenaNet has (and persists to) done.

To whatever the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO your name was (sorry too lazy to look up your name hope you don't mind) there is obviously something awry when all the good guilds have quit, with the exception of like, 3.

First it was EvIL, though that was due to forced military service in their country, not like it mattered they would of left when the bottom happened anyways, I guarantee it.

Second there was just about everyone who RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing mattered, thanks to Nightfalls obscene power creep and poorly designed classes.

Now there's going to be dR and rawr, two guilds which are basically the pinnacle of what a guild should be, although (don't hurt me Divine) they are still shit compared to what was once there. Both have given more to this community than ArenaNet has in the past half year, and have given before that. Divine here is helping spark the GWG tournament to try to keep people interested, and you're over here being blind as a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing bat insulting him. The entire point of the topic is staring you dead in the face like a Warrior in Frenzy all by his lonesome and you've decided to go walk towards the heavily defended team half way across the map instead.

All the important people leaving (read: the ones who spark the high end play, which in turn sparks the mid tier players to eventually join them in their place, and so on and so forth) obviously means something is wrong with the game.

You can say they got bored, and I will laugh at you. Ask anyone around during the GWWC era if they were bored of the game or thought it sucked, and they would spit in your face without a second thought.

Now all I get is a maniacal laugh at the very sound of the name Guild Wars.

There's a little thing called "customer loyalty." Of course, I don't think the problem is even that they don't care, it's that they're oblivious/incompetent. Getting no updates would indicate not caring, getting updates that make things worse (i.e. the Shadow Form buff) or are complete wastes of time (i.e. Lightning Touch, Symbolic Strike) is incompetence.

I can actually forgive them for fixes coming late, it wouldn't be the first decision that screams "cost control," but when it's obvious that they have the resources to address problems and completely misfire, what's the new excuse?

They've been aware and talking to these people for over a year now. Technically more then that, but I'm ignoring when the game was actually good.

I'll tell you what's coming in the upcoming weeks (months):
-PvE receives more massive buffs to make it even easier.
-Ursan Blessing not touched.
-If Ursan Blessing is touched, expect double of first line.
-PvP gets random buffs that do nothing to touch the horrible meta.
-dR/rawr probably disband/quit/have hot sex/pawn their guild off

As for SF - never saw it as a problem, but then again i don't use it much in PvP. So i'll take your word Masume (or whatever).
1. The mods dont delete half eneogh posts. This one of yours is a piece of shit.

2. Searing Flames in its original form was a serious problem in multiples. This was due to the damage rather than the length of the burning. Of course rather than nerf teh damage the length of burning was nerfed. This was an example of incompetence on arenanets part.

Honestly though just fixing the issues isn't enough, I mean, fixing all the bugs and broken stuff still wouldn't be enough. There's a ton of power creep to fix, a majority of it being NF, but through later balances including C1 & C2. Stuff like WoH needs to be nerfed, but that's not feasible in the current meta. Fixing bugs and fixing broken stuff is good, but in addition Izzy needs to completely remove all the power creep, and ultimately find a way to make hexes more active to prevent stupid Hexways. Instead he buffed a few Hexes last update...and they are both FIRE AND FORGET ones.

Ultimately they need someone who can completely 100% focus on GW1 balance, instead of being split between 2 games, and knows what he is doing. atm probably 50% of stupid RA could do a bit better job imo and that's somewhat frightening.
