I would always go with mystic regen as a cover enchant in AB instead of aura. really, attunement+armor of mist+mystic is too good to pass up imho.
piss off man, if you're not gunna cap in AB you're gunna run around killing random people which is basically no help in winning the game..

All he's saying is that you shouldn't rely on the ele to clear the shrines for you and build your team so you can face most situations.
If your ele is only good at capping you can't defend shrines...

Nah, ur missing my point, and ur missing manners too .
Maelstrom can completely shut down caster shrines, and that with only using ONE skill slot. That way the assassin/warrior/derv (yeah I'm one of those funny guys that believe melee kills stuff best of all profs) on your team can happily wipe the shrine without getting bombed by, say, the army eles, or the necromancers. The advantage of the water ele gowever is that it can also help you kill players that might want to stop you from capping. Ever tried to cast MS+SH+firestorm with a ranger and a hammer warrior in your face?

That hammer warrior doesn't get far against a water ele that uses, say, Icy Shackles on him. LOL the ranger hits natural stride, one water hex later he's DEAD lololol. Oops, an assassin, when I'm on my fir ele it's time to run, but my water guy can put blurred vision on him and ruin the 1234lolwtfurdead combo.

Just saying that the more flexible you are, the more chance you got against that quadrillion suick builds and situations you will encounter in AB. Water eles don't do very much damage tho, so you better bring teammates that don't GOREDENGINE suck monkey balls.
We once ran 2 dev hammers, a water ele and a magebane (No we don't bring monks, monks are no fun, monks can't pwn, and therefore have no manhood) and you just don't wanna know how much it RAPES lol.

With Maelstrom in effect, a single decent scythe-wielder can take care of the NPCs at once, leaving the rest of the team free to threaten, split, defend or w/e according to the situation.

OP is completely right about maelstrom + a few teammates being able to easily cap any shrine, although it might take a few more seconds than with a fire ele. Solo capping is stupid because it takes so long and another group often comes up and takes it right back while you snake off before even finishing the cap.

Personally though I'd just run a Me/E water snare for the fast casting with icy shackles. Water spells are generally cheap enough to constantly spam w/o energy storage + glowing ice makes it even easier.

No offense, but isn't this pretty much the same build run by the frozen ele/ice imp mobs?
