Well he's legit imo!

He just knows someone who is knowledgeable about HA who got him into the game. He still makes mistakes in how he uses his Monk skills (uses them too early, not at the right times, etc) when I've played with him, but I am fairly (read: 99%) sure he is new, just knows a lot from people he knows.

Too bad he wasn't a sin, might have come up with something like
[deadly paradox][arcane echo][shadow form]

btw, I basically quit pve after the above elite skill was nerfed, so... whenever you form a group, keep me in mind. IGN: Maiden Of Impurity

OP, I'll just say you have the right mindset to be a good player. Ignore the RA shitters and keep listening to the guy who talked you into this game, he seems to know the good basics.

Also, I don't mind if you pm me in-game if you ever happen to catch me online; I know quite a thing or two and am always up for a good chat.

This almost sounds like a marriage arrangement... creepy.

Which is exactly why it shouldn't get a sticky.

As someone just getting started PvPing with a M/A build I got more good tips and tactics from this thread than just about anything else I've read.

There have been threads with better tips than this thread, and they didn't get stickied, so I don't really think it should be.

Hey guys im new to the game, I've had it for about 3 hours and only played for 1. I bought the pvp pack and I rolled onto a warrior and went immediately into RA (after the 2 hours it took to install the game). I have to say this game is extremely fun.

While playing warrior I was using an axe and I used the skills:
1)Eviscerate
2)Executioner Chop
3)Distrupting Chop
4)Bulls Strike
5)Frenzy
6)Rush
7)Shock
8)Ressurection Signet

14 Axe mastery, 10 Strength, 9 Air Magic

While I was in a game in RA, someone told me that I'm a newb warrior and quit the match because I was using the skill Frenzy, and he said that it is a bad skill because it makes me take more damage. However I thought the skill was very useful because it made me attack faster in order to kill people, and if they went to attack me I could just turn on Rush and run away from the damage.

The person who came into our team to fill in for our leaving ally in the next match (after we won 3v4) also left because he saw me using Bulls Strike and said that it is a bad skill, because it only works when the enemy is moving. So he called me a newb and went onto do not disturb mode, I couldn't discuss the matter further after he did that.

I also discovered a trick in the second game I was in (where we won 3v4 again) where if you use an elemental weapon you do more damage to warriors, after my team had won 10 games in a row everyone left, so I went back to the lobby of the arena. I tried to find out why it does more damage and found out it's because warriors have 20 less armor against elemental damage. Now whenever I go into combat I use the following weapons:

1 Vampiric Axe (for more damage)
1 Zealous Axe (to regain energy from reapplying frenzy a lot)
1 Elemental Axe (to hurt warriors for more)
1 Furious Spear (to gain adrenaline from afar)
1 Air Magic Wand (to do damage to people who escape with really low HP)

I use +30 Hp and 15^50% mods on all my weapons

For my shields I just use +30, -20% blind reduction (req9 strength) and one with the same mods but for crippled duration incase they have cripples.

I also keep an air magic off hand item so that I have more energy on standby when I need it to use my skills and spells

On my armour I use stoneskin insignia, energy insignias so that I have 25 energy, and the rest survivor insignias.

I found out a trick where if you use bulls strike and knock the enemy down, and then time shock so right when they get up they dont have time to move or cast any spells you can keep them locked on the floor for 6 seconds of frenzy attacking, and then when they go to get up from shock a lot of the time I found healers cast spells instantly after rising, so I use my distrupting chop skill and I can usually disable the first spell they cast for 20 seconds - this might be a common strategy but I didnt see anyone doing it and I thought it was neat and it let me kill healers really fast.

Anyone have any tips for a noob?

Lol, there's no way he's new. Check his join date: Jul 2006. The first one might have been an observant and intelligent person just getting into the PvP community. I think it took me a day or two to learn the basic game mechanics and about a week to get to a mediocre level playing as a Ranger on my own. Personally I'm betting that Newb #1 was part of a greater conspiracy to inject a ray of hope into the PvP community (I tend to carry cynicism to extremes).

But as for the second 'newb', there's no way someone around since Jul 2006 has had it "for about 3 hours and only played for 1." And just about the only thing he hasn't mentioned to correctly play a Warrior is the "Chizu Dance". I must say though, I do like the name of his warrior.
