Default Mesmer AB build suggestion?

Hey, im kinda looking for a mesmer build for AB, checked PvXwiki to see some of the great builds, however under the AB cadagory, there is none >.<.

So anyway, to specify what im looking for then:
- Factions and Prophetic skills only (dont have the other 2, not sure if its worth buying em at this point) (Yes, this means no VoR builds, seeing how they seem to be the mesmerbuild of choice for most mesmers i meet <.<)

- Mainly a "mesmer build". Meaning, no FC Ele builds or something similar. But mainly something with some neat hexes and stuff, interupts and other mesmer style kinda things (i like necro stuff tho, so Me/N builds using mainly necro stuff could be interessting too.)

- Build gotta be able to fight all types of enemys (at least offencive enemys). I dont really like builds that like, annihilate melee but is completely screwed if you meet a caster. Ofc since its AB the build dont have to be the uber monk shutdown, since its basicly impossible to make a build that will do everything.

A build that ive been using for a while is basicly what im looking for, tho, something else than the one im currently using (improvements for my current is appriciated too!)

[build prof=Me/N][Ether Feast][Power Drain][Cry of Frustration][Empathy][Parasitic Bond][Backfire][Drain Enchantment][Signet of Midnight][/build]
(attribs being max dom, 10 insp with rune, Fc as much as you can, and few leftover into curses)

I know its a seem like a pretty troublesome task, but any help or pointers toward something fun is appriciated.

*Yes its AB, everything would work, I know that :P*

Auctually Mesmers still function well if they can assist in taking down the other teams monk. As a mesmer you should be thinking first, disruption, then damage and survivalibity, then speed boost, in roughly that order.

[visions of regret][wastrels worry] are a great place to start, use the insperation line for survival. Or use [lyssas aura] to power costly hexes. [tease] surves as an inturpt an a decent form of e-menagment. I would just have it rdy everytime you take on a caster shrine to fill up your energy. Also as a squishy, you need to find a way to survive against melee, usually a self-heal is not enough. I would recommend going sin secondary, they have some great survival skills, or bring something that will shut them down (like you have in your build.)

BTW this build, ajusted for AB, is great fun. http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Me/Rt_Migraine_Mesmer

Try this on your skill bar. I think this will suit your taste.

(1) Signet of Illusions
(2) Clumsiness
(3) Wandering eye
(4) Churning Earth
(5) Fire Storm
(6) Backfire
(7) Drain Enchantment
(8) Ehter feast

Put points in Fast Cast and Illusions only. I have 13 FC and 16 Illusions.
Use (2) and (3) against Melee chars and shrines (Sin who tries to solo you can kill himself with these, unless they alpply daze and knock-down. Most could not understand why they could not kill a squishy mesmer that they keep on attacking. Wise ones would retreat and pick another target. Apply Backfire when the opponent health is low or is retreating as he/she is highly likly to use a heal spell. Use Drain enchanement to remove their heal enchantment to replenish your health and energy)

Use (4) and (5) to capture Shrine or as direct AOE damage to distract a mob. Add (1) and (2) to finish off the job.

Use (6) to annoy casters and some Dervs (some killed themselves if you sneak this in unexpectedly). Sometimes it temporaily mezes some monks so your team can have a window to spike others).

Use (7) and (8) to maintain your health and energy. With 16 attrib SoI, these skills are good. use (7) to remove Holy Veil if necessary before applying Backfire.

This is not a UBER build but hey it will handle most situations with PUGs. It works brilliantly most times against average opponents.

I normally stay clear of touchers, dazers, knockdown stompers and mesmers. Yes those Mesmers that focus solely on Domination, Illlusions or Signet lines are annoying for this build, so stay clear of them.

Note: I just realised that you do not have Nightfall so this build with Signet of Illusions is not for you.

Take your time to read the OP's post before you click "Post Quick Reply"

I was fooling around with a battlemesmer build which I found fun to play in a guild team ... not sure if it is pugable because I hate bringing self defense builds that split points over more then 3 attributes.

[Psychic Instability][power spike][diversion][wastrel's worry][empathy][blackout][deaths charge][dash]
(note that the GWBBCode is not up to date)

you can take out [[deaths charge] and blackout for [[backfire] and [[shatter enchantment] or [[power drain] (if you have energy issues).

Remember though, this build can't take out shrines fast, needs a healer and some other damage dealer's but if you got that it's fun to play and effective in taking out teams in 4 vs 4's.

Hope that gives you some inspiration on making your own build.

Have fun!

[build prof=me/a dom=12+1+1, ins=9+1, fas=9+1 sha=3][lyssa's aura][wastrel's worry][overload][power spike][backfire][drain enchantment][dash][return][/build]

Use the op mesmer damage - spam skills 2 and 3. Empathy is all lame, and I discourage its use at all times.

The VoR bar is pretty strong, but if you aspire to be better than a button masher there are better, and more potent choices.

[build=OQdjMoCMASFA5AeAcACBEBoATQA]

For reasons I mentioned in RA thread, spirit shackles is far superior to empathy as your anti-physical hex. It really knocks the wind out of sins, dervs and rangers, pointless wamos too I guess. Empathy not so much unless they pound themselves to death, admittedly a distinct possibility in AB though. You could replace CoF with power drain for some energy management or maybe run auspicious incantation and use it on spirit shackles.

Hidden caltrops works well too for a team snare:

Thanks for the suggestions guys (well, those who managed to read past the 2nd line'), never gave Assassin secondary much thought on my mesmer, but theres actually some pretty decent melee defense skills from there [[[email protected]] is pretty nice seeing how you can get a 7 sec cripple with 3 in Shadow arts, and then Dash on top of it and I dont need to fear most melee.

One thing tho': Alot of the builds feature Diversion. Now in battles where theres a good chance you and the enemy team have a monk (long battles), this thing is nice since you can shut down parts of your enemys bar. But for AB most people will die quite quickly, regardless of a missing skill or not (or then you die / retreat).

So basicly, while i love diversion and the idea, is it really worth brining in AB?

Diversion is worth it in any place to an extent. Believe it or not, there are some decent teams in AB that will last longer than a random team and diversion will be helpful. IMO diversion is one of the best skills a mesmer could have.

Yea i know those exist even tho rare. But (this is ofc because of how I play) im often with either pug or a monkless guild team (very small and casual guild), so a good team with a decent monk and everything will in most cases roll through us anyway.

But ofc this is mainly because this is how I play AB. Other people who team up with healer and more reliable people than random Warmos, could prolly use Diversion better.

It makes me smile when I Divert, Powerblock or D-Shot Searing Flames. Infact, it makes me smile everytime someone casts through Diversion like a complete idiot.

Okay, consider the following:

Mesmers passion is to give you the worst day you ever had. And diversion sure is the queen of all Mesmer skills. Anyone who got a key skill on their bar diverted once in their life knows how painful that can be. And even if you land it to early it still is supreme psychological pressure and gives you a 6 second window to screw the poor guy over (wastrel's worry and good timing for follow up interrupts) or retreat into safety.

If you divert the lead attack of a assassin, he'll be rendered useless for a minute in most cases. If he dies he is back in action in 20 seconds or less. And there are still many in AB who don't know the sound of a incoming diversion or have never used their cancel action button in battle.

You don't always kill but you can severely cripple their performance. You did a good job when you get that diversion in where it hurts even if you get rolled over but this awesome guild team. They'll have a much harder time fighting the next team without their WoH, Blood of the Master, Golden Fox Strike, Searing Flames ... etc etc etc.

Enough reasons for me to bring my all time favorite skill even in AB.

I'm not a huge fan of Diversion in AB, and almost always wind up going back to something else after running it for a few games. You have to remember what AB games usually are: A straight slugfest with shitty players and minimal support.

Diversion is designed to dismantle support so you can actually kill things, but when there is hardly any support, Diversion just means forcing button-mashers to use the rest of their usually single-purpose skill bar to kill you, they're not any closer to dead, and you will be. Nevermind that fighting is also sporadic so they get to spend a lot of the long recharge running around not doing anything.

It is good for shitting on monks and Searing Flames eles, but aside from that, I'd rather have Backfire or Power Leak since Backfire will kill them, and Power Leak will save you from eating Rodgort's and will do a better job of shutting down players that never carry a high set.

Made a build a while back, it can solo cap next to any shrine after you have got some practice with it (altho i cant rember what campaign the skills come from so if you dont have one no worrys cos i could most props tell you summthin you can replace it with)

1: Flare
2: Arcane Echo
3: Meteor Shower
4: Savannah Heat
5: Energy Tap
6: Ether Feast
7: Fire Attunment
8: Ether Signet

Basicly it allows a solo cap of any shrine on near enough any map. For an example i shall use the Elementlist Shrine (since its one of the hardest to cap since its so powerful):

(make sure you are mainting Fire Attunment)
Arcane Echo
Meteor Shower
Meteor Shower
Savvanah Heat
Ether feast (if health is needed)
Energy Tap (if energy is needed)
Spam Flare with any left standing (sometimes 1 sometimes none)

That is all. As for players, well be creative ^^.
