1) There's more then one type of ranger spike kyp. TV spike is fairly common. but there is also the pun shot variant with R/E snares, the Expert's Dex Spike, etc. To say that all ranger spike needs to have hex breaker or vitals to win is both saying alot about 1) your monks 2) your rangers ability to shutdown skills that will be shutting down your teams ability to spike which brings me to point 2...

2) Rangers need to be interrupting inbetween spikes. you cant just say spike everything and kill it because the other team isnt going to just sit there and let you do that. Your rangers will have blurred, blind, knocks from unsteady, etc. to deal with and all those skills will be going through because you dun interrupt. Of course you can say the best counter is to spike and kill but the opposing teams Earth ele, water ele, etc. will be protted and protected and generally looked after closely by the enemy monks. The amount of spike should not slow down (should still be shooting out every 5-8 secs), but the ranger need to looking on the battlefield for eles and mesmers etc for skills to interrupt (even just tab through if you arent use to looking on the battlefield).

3) the 3 monks are an insurance for pressure but just cause you have them doesnt mean as a ranger you shouldnt be interrupting diversions and AoE Skills for them. One less thing for monks to worry about = more survivabilty esp. if your particular rspike doesnt have hex breaker or vitals. if monks are being shutdown they are going to have a harder time keeping the rangers clean so spikes can go through so rangers should be interrupting as much as possible to 1) keep themselves clean for the spike 2) help keep the monks clean of diversion and snares so they can do their job to keep up the party.

in order

1) There are only 2 teams that dont run the 'standard' rspike in hours I play, those arent as solid of a build when you look at all the map objectives, specifically HoH, and take better players to run, so kudos to them for buildwarsing an already compressed build.

2) They arent going to let you spike? The only skills rspike should be concerning itself with interupting is Aegis effects. Lets look at todays meta. 1-2 melee, lots of fire eles, earth eles, mesmer.
I would appreciate if you could explain that, if I were running rspike, how they were NOT going to let me spike if I didnt bother interupting stuff. There is nothing outside of a cry that will stop me from spiking.
That being said, active defense will always destroy spike teams, because they cant do anything about it, passive defenses arent a bother.
Heres your dshot targets in 1v1s
1) Aegis/DA
2) Res
3) Res
4) Res


3) Get new monks if those are problems for you, most teams I play in tell thier 2 monk backline that has no midline support to just deal with it. You have 3 monks, these should NOT be a problem. Rspike runs the third monk for two reasons. First and foremost keep the spikers clean. In a distant second its help support the team against pressure. (because 2 monks should be enough) [hint, thats why rspikers shouldnt be concentrating on interupting earth/water eles, because you have a monk to counter him specifically]

kyp,

1) TV rspike is not the win all rspike. Its strong don't get me wrong. but just cause your rpsike != Tv's build doesnt mean its inferior. I cannot comment on what rspike builds you've seen on the times you play HA but there are many rspikes that are either on par or above the TV spike.

2) I dunno when YOU play, but listen... I never ever see Aegis in HA. I see DA very very rarely but still fairly uncommon (and shouldnt be a prob cause like you said you can interrupt it easy). Also the earth ele you yourself mentioned is capable of disrupting your spike with knocks and blinds. You can spread out but atleast one of your 3 rspikers will be blind or knocked on the occasional spike which probably means the target will survive if opposing monks are doin their job. you can guarantee the spike going through by just tabbin to the earth ele and throwing a dshot or savage on its long cast AoE skills. its not that hard and increases chances of spikes going through.

3) like i said, not all rspikes run 3 monks. and if you arent interrupting things that shutdown monks inbetween spikes, it makes their job harder. I'm really glad to hear that you are able to scrounge up 2 decent monks all the time but the majority of HA monks arent that hot, and need the extra support.

REGARDLESS of monk skill level... no matter HOW much defense you have... you will eventually start feeling the pressure, esp. in halls where map objectives force you to ball up. At these times ESP. your rangers should be interrupting AoE and monk shutdowns.

Putting this issue to rest once and for all. When one ranger spike faces another, which one wins? The cleaner spike or the rangers that can interupt better? The answer is simple, the one who can interupt. When you face a ranger spike with a ranger spike, it is obvious that vitals make spiking harder. If that gets delt with by a ranger's d-shot, the enemies are automatically at a disadvantage. Also, if you are compitent, you know that if all of the enemy rangers dont actually spike, it wont be clean. Simply interupt a spike skill on a ranger or two each spike and they cant actually spike. If the other team cant do that to you, just keep spiking in between them and pressure the infusers energy out, and the game is done. You dont even need clean spike, just the ability to INTERUPT. See why interupting is so important now?

1) GOOD MONKS.



2) GOOD PLAYERS.

To beat iway, you need monks who know how to spam skills while balling in the 50 things hitting them. Since your ranger spike, you should have no problem beating iway if you know wtf your doing. Spike out the paragons, you should have weaken armor somewhere in your build. If not, spike out the dervish's, just waste the sigs on the wars.

To split with forked arrow... lets see, sounds. honestly I don't know because im not gay like you and run rspike... but, I would take it you can't 3 way split... so..... bitch/heal(hb) monk + 3 rangers go cap one base, rit snares team trying to counter cap, remaining cap other stuff.

On koth, spike down whatever maintains wow on the ghost, then spike down the infuser, then the prot, then free spike ghost...

Did you really need help on this stuff? It's kinda like common sense... I mean I don't even play rspike and it's simple.

Rspike is so bad.... and I don't know why people cry so much about it- their just bad and need to learn how to watch arrows fly torwards 1 target and prot it.
