Yes, it's unfortunate. I was observing yesterday and today as well and same thing, all warriors, monks, mesmers, rangers. I also saw a whole group of necros but thats the only time I seen a necro.

All four non core classes + the necromancer were terribly designed and serve no real purpose in a balanced version of this game. Hence they only see play if they are abusing broken skills, otherwise they just are not played.

the typical gvg build will have two melee (usually warrior), two healers (usual monks), and a flagrunner of some sort. that's 5 out of the 8 slots taken up by essential characters. that leaves only 3 slots for the remaining 7 professions. obviously there will be professions left out, no matter how the game balance is adjusted.

a balanced game does not require EVERY option to be used. take starcraft for instance. it is one of the most balanced game ever created, and yet nobody use queens... nor scouts... no ghosts... nor nukes.... another example would be counterstrike. out of the numerous guns available, only a handful ever get used. the same applies to GW.

its not a matter of every class being used in a 8 man team. it wasn't even possible when we only had 6 classes. it is the fact that out of 10 classes, 4 are usable in GvG. Only 4 are usable. Its not a matter of handful, you literally don't have more options then that. your given 4 guns. that's it, which is pretty much why AB > gvg right now. at least people can play the classes they paid for.

The observation I made were based on the top guilds, and I do see those class in GvG. I hardly see much Elementalist though. I didn't see anyone here writing about elementalist being bad for the most effective combination in the top GvG so I wonder why this is the case for them. Is it because of the mesmer/ranger?

Paragons see a decent amount of use actually atm, Dervishes became obsolete by the lack of VoD and the emergence of WE Warriors, Sins get some use in spike builds and Rits are desginated flaggers and get some midline play too.

The non prophecies professions as well as necros suffer from the fact that they don't have a clearly defined role and usually only get play when there's some imbalanced build/skill that they use. (E.g. Wounding Strike Dervs, Paragon Spike, Sin Split, BSpike, PoD Necros, etc.)

Elementalists are currently outclassed in pretty much every way by Mesmer/Elementalists as defensive midliners, they see quite some use in split builds however.

What are you on about? You can guarante you will see eles on any split map in an AT and mo/w runners are not taking over from rits except on maps where monk runners have always been better than rits. Also Necros are seeing plenty of play atm because of Pain of Disenchantment.

lol, that is only 1 of the many team builds which is being used by all the guilds, balanced is only used the most as it is pressure. mesmers atm are bieng used more than any other class with the FC mes and the PB/Esurge going round, but then again the stuff used in GvG always will alter depending on the strength of the team or what thier strengths are. sin splits are good on certain maps and bad on others, so it isnt used as much, but just over simplifying the whole thing by narrowing it only down to a blanced team is just wrong, my guild is r400 ish atm, and we use balanced, but sometimes have fun with Byob. but it is still an organised to some extent GvG team.

rits are just waiting to be nerfed. there is not one thing you can do with an ele you can't do better with a mesmer now. 4 classes.
