Yes, I'm sure AoM has changed as much as GW in the past three years, right?

I haven't seen them perform in the old days, so all I can go on are rumors. It'll be interesting to see how much of an influence they'll be on the meta, if at all, and how much people would try to copy them if they did rise to the level of their old powerhouse.

Jang and his teammates refuse to compromise their vision of how the game should be played or how victory should be achieved. To them, the only way to win is through direct confrontation, by overwhelming their foes with speed and strength. They consider this victory the only real victory, referring to it as victory with honor or "Absolute Victory," and they will settle for nothing less.
F*CK DF HONOR, F*CK RAWR HONOR, WHICH IS 6x AS STRONG AS DF HONOR, IT'S ALL ABOUT EVIL HONOR!!!!!!!!

Evil had epik skill, it will take them a while but if they apply themselves they'll be back strong, esp. if they get a couple more guys back.

I remember back when they played hard, a massive patch came out and it raped their strat. For a week they played random bars but eventually they just started smashing people up again.

I kind of expect a slightly longer version of the same thing to happen now.

I am very happy that EvIL came back, really enjoy watching their games. I have a lot of good screen shots from when they and War Machine were at the top.

Taken straight from the article, this is the most relevant paragraph:

"The new team is holding fast to the old team's ways—The Return plays the same kind of hard, fast, squad-based skirmish strategy that made EvIL champions. The PvP scene has changed a lot in the past two years, however, and so The Return's old-school style of play is having a tough time of it—defensive strategies are dominant and the game itself has expanded greatly while The Return's founding members were away. Catching up on two years' worth of new skills, spells, and tactical tricks is no easy task, especially when you're former champions and everyone's looking to take down the legend. During this time of rebuilding and reeducating themselves, The Return is taking its lumps as it learns just how far it had to go to make it back to the top."

I mean, EviL wasn't even around for all the overpowered NF skills hayday. They are probablly still used to Boon Prot monks. I mean, 2 new professions all of NF and GW:EN skills will definatelly take a LONG time to catch up to speed. I'm sure they have the dedication, and with time they MIGHT make a run, but there is no denying that they are both rusty, and coming back to an entirely different game.

But anyway, I'm glad they are back. Too many of the top tier guilds today aren't really good in terms of player skill. Sure, they run builds effectively and can abuse the crap out of mechanics, but there was something to the finesce and creativity that guilds like IQ and EviL had that no one today can approach (maybe RAWR, but even then, the game is so different today, apples to oranges).

They dominated in an age when Guild Wars was new and so was it's players. That's not saying too much. Even if they do manage to get to top 20, they will just get run over by teams like KmD and rawr.

But its also not saying much that teams dominate now with a lower population of players(i.e less competition), Its not fair to compare guildwars now to guildwars then,

The game has changed a whole lot since prophs and factions, To say a team that dominated then was any less dominant due to the game being new would be idiotic considering that team if it kept playing would more likely than not still be at the top, Also considering the learning curve "EviL"(The Return only has about 3 or 4 people from the original core) has coming back after about 2 years break from the game its not surprising to see teams roll them.

Still its very nice to see old faces coming back to the game.

The talent pool/skill and competition nowadays is more than it has ever been. You may think it is idiotic of me to say that but you're just plain stupid to think otherwise. Sure, money was at stake back then, but one team dominated back then as opposed to the variety of top guilds that continually make the top 10/20. When I played for RnS, guilds like us would make the top 10, finish there in one competitive season and then drop off the map forever. That's the way it was back then. Teams have become more competitive now and try to prolong their time on the ladder. Is that to say that teams from the beginning of the game didn't care to stay on the ladder as long as they could? No. I just think that more teams care nowadays in a so-called "dead game" scenario than teams cared back two or three years ago.

Yes because the success of a fc air spike guild is totally proof on the skill level of players during that time(Which btw was a pretty horrible guild even for running gimmicks.:/),
So teams like Te, WM, EviL, Val, LuM, iQ, EW, Weren't multiple teams that had success?

I'm not by any means saying which era of guildwars had more talent but i am saying you can't just make up facts because the game was out longer saying that teams are now better, Teams right now are good because they have a understanding of how to play the game in its current state the same reason why teams were dominant in prophecies and factions.

Just because you still play the game(i assume) and are bad doesn't mean everybody else that played before and still continued to play would be bad aswell, No offence intended just trying to prove a point.

RnS didn't make it to the top 10/15 by Air Spike...just by saying that it makes me question if you were even around when some of those better teams played. Let's let this thread die. If EviL can pull some wins out of their asses in this upcoming monthly and advance up the ladder steadily, and somehow and I do mean somehow make it to top 10/20 ever again, then I will eat my words.

have you ever wondered why they were so good? it MIGHT BE that they werent that good but the rest were quite literally speaking, bad... now that all this time has passed i believe that gw has come a long way in that the players has become good and they are now the underdogs like the rest of the ppl were in their days...

justa thought but remember, he who rules will someday fall

and ffs stop making a fuss... they are just korean dudes with funny hairstyles

Lol. You can hardly make a case for this, look at whose been in top 8 the last few monthlies. Most good players have gone, there's a few decent Euro's left (KMD, STS, SUP) and less than a handful of decent American players. We have mediocre guilds winning silver/bronze trims over and over again.

Heck, even a lot of these "good" guilds have been dominating by sheer build wars/PvE in GvG rather than individual skill (Rawr/vD were notorious VoD farmers; dR's gold was won by speccing against sinsplit).

Haven't seen rawr play? Did you not watch sup win gold? rawr played last month as Shining Fairy Princess Power [Team] and most recently as The Cape Is A Lie [Trim]. rawr still plays, they just got smart. Winning 7 gold capes is the same as winning 1 if it's with the same guild. They realized there was money to be made in selling champ range guilds, so now they run a new guild into the tourney every month.
