Question Man I suck at PvP

Hi all, I'm kinda new at this, so please bear with me.

I'm a warrior (sword, strength), and I'm just having the worst time in PvP. I'm always the first one to go down, and a lot of my teammates complain about me. I've tried changing things up, but I'm really at a loss on what to do about it.

Just so you know where I'm coming from, here are my stats:
INV (all mods are max):
Furious Sword of Fortitude, +15%^50
Shield of Fortitude, "I can see clearly now" (-20% to blind, stacking)
Stonefist helm of minor strength (also +1 to sword)
Survivor Chest Armor of superior vigor
Brawlers Gauntletts of minor swordsmanship
survivor leggings of vitae
Brawler Boots of Clarity (another -20% on blind because it drives me nuts)

Skills:
Crippling slash
Gash
Galrath Slash
Griffons Sweep
Enraging Charge
For great justice
Tiger Stance
Res Signet.

I am open to any and all suggestions/tips/criticism/threats etc . Changing secondary classes isn't a problem, and $$ isn't a problem either. Thanks.

in terms of equipment your setup varies but tends to be:

Insignias:

Survivor
Survivor / Sentinel's
Stonefists / Survivor's
Survivor / Sentinel's
Survivor

Runes:

Minor to Superior Weapon Mastery
Minor Strength
Superior Vigor
Clarity
Restoration

Swords:

Elemental Hilt, Fortitude, 15^50% or 15^Stance
Vampiric Hilt, Fortitude, 15^50% or 15^Stance
Zealous Hilt, Fortitude, 15^50% or 15^Stance

Spear:

Furious Spear Head, Fortitude, 15%^-5E

Shield:

Handle of Fortitude, Anti-Blind Inscription

For sword, skills when streamlined are:

Sever Artery / Cripslash
Gash
Standing Slash / Sun and Moon Slash
Bull's Strike / Savage Slash
Frenzy / Primal Rage
Rush
Utility Skill
Resurrection Signet

In terms of skills your bar is fine for an RA bar, Griffon's Sweep and For Great Justice are kind of weak though. When I started warrioring and was trying to just get a feel on how things worked I ran this:

Cripslash
Gash
Standing Slash
Bull's Strike
Tiger Stance
Enraging Charge
Savage Slash
Resurrection Signet

In my opinion, a bar like this is good because it gives you a sense of how Frenzy / Rush really operate on the bar, it's safe enough that you can't blow yourself up using it, and it's damaging enough that (so long as you aren't pumping damage into prot or stances) most idiots in RA will take a fair amount of damage.

I really like:

Cripslash
Gash
Sun and Moon Slash
Savage Slash
Conjure Fire
Res Sig
Enraged Charge
Flail

In general: Learn to use your skills wisely. Interrupt key skills, and try to make unimpeded damage. Bull's Strike is bread and butter for a warrior, as it stops foes from running away, but it's not so useful in RA, because not everyone there runs away. It's like in Poker, where you can't out-bluff an idiot.

Try not to be the center of attention. If you're the first in the battle, you might get a single crippling hex or blind on you and you're screwed for the rest of the match. Note that "FGJ!" was nerfed pretty handily for PvP.

Guys thank you so much. I've just been using variations of all the advice you've given me, and now I'm a far better player. My tank is much more dangerous now

This is geared towards GvG, but it has a lot of good advice on playing warrior. It's what answered most of my questions.

Tbh, at this current stage axes and hammers are far better then swords. I would strongly consider swapping to one or the other.

For Great Justice is a waste of a skill slot, ever since it got Smiter's Booned. Best thing to do is play one of the standard good warrior templates until you get the hang of playing Warrior, then vary your build to suit your tastes. Most important thing is to not give up. Listen to constructive criticism (name-calling isn't constructive...), and you'll be fine.

The article Nine IXI gave you Coolone, if by far one of the best reads for understanding how to play a warrior. Always remember that in the beginning PVP is allot of trial and error, always trying to learn from your mistakes.
All I would add is remember GVG is about 8 people using 64 skills, to beat an opponent ( not 8 people using 8 skills each). Make sure you and your team, have set goals of what your trying to accomplish with your build in each match. Observer is your friend!!! Not just for learning from others, but watching your own mistakes and triumphs. Try getting others to watch your own matches. That way they can better explain if you are doing anything wrong, and you can say hey WTF maybe if you had pre-protted me I would not have had my prostate examined by that Axe!!!

Hope that helps!!

GVG golden rule #1. If something has not died after 4 min, Do something f.....g different.

Don't listen to any of these people besides sun fired blank. Pvp is all about standardized bars, if you are that class in that build you better have that bar. Unless of course you're playing ra. Also don't yourself a tank in pvp. If you want to use cripslash use sun fired's bar. For all you people that said flail I lol'd.

The first thing you need to be a good Warrior in PvP, is big balls.

Be a man, bring Frenzy, or Primal Rage, and show your enemy you're not scared of using it.

Key one: Take a brave skill bar.

[crippling slash][gash][sun and moon slash][bull's strike][frenzy][rush][conjure flame][resurrection signet]
[sever artery][gash][sun and moon slash][bull's strike][primal rage][rush][conjure flame][resurrection signet]
[eviscerate][body blow][disrupting chop][bull's strike][shock][frenzy][rush][resurrection signet]
[dismember][body blow][disrupting chop][bull's strike][shock][primal rage][rush][resurrection signet]
[devestating hammer][crushing blow][hammer bash][bull's strike][no skill][flail][enraging charge][resurrection signet]

Key two: Take braver equipment.

All 15^50, +30HP.
Vamp. (If your Conjure gets stripped)
Elemental. (Camp while under Conjure, if hitting enemy Warriors this is your best friend)
Zealous. (Conjure stripped? Happy with Bull's / Frenzy?)
Spear. (Chiizu dance towards them while throwing this for adrenaline)

Then you want your armour.

All Survivor, Stonefist on gloves, minor runes for all specced attributes then the rest are vitae's.

[build prof=W/any sword=12+1+1 streng=12+1][Crippling Slash][Gash][Sun and Moon Slash][Bull's Strike][Optional][Frenzy][Rush][Resurrection Signet][/build]

* Survivor Insignia's.
* Stonefist Insignia on hands
* A Vampiric, Zealous and Elemental Sword of Fortitude with "Strength and Honor" Inscription.
* Strength Shields of Fortitude with a "Luck of the Draw", "I Can See Clearly Now" and "Swift as the Wind" Inscription.
* Rune of Superior Vigor.
* Rune of Clarity.
* Runes of Vitae.

* One of the most effective choices, [[Conjure Lightning], or one of the other elemental variants.
* Take [[Final Thrust] or [[Body Blow] in place of [[Sun and Moon Slash].
* [[Healing Signet] or another self-heal.
* Replace [[Rush] with skills such as [[Dash] or [[Enraging Charge].
* You may wish to use [[Mending Touch] for condition removal.
* [[Antidote Signet] for a no energy/fast recharging condition removal that always removes blind.
* [[Shock]
* [[Disarm]
* [[Savage Slash]
*[[Sight Beyond Sight] for anti-blind
* [[Grasping Earth] or [[Song of Concentration] for HA
*For enchantment removal:
**[[Rip Enchantment] (also causes bleeding which combos well with Gash)
**[[Rending Touch]
**[[Rend Enchantments]

If your team is always calling you names you may be overextending or paying too much attention to your target and not whats going on around you. Don't run off too far the so rest of your team cant follow and don't go off soloing single targets and getting yourself killed while the rest of your team are on the other side of the map. Also make your HUD map bigger and keep an eye on where the rest of your team is. If you're lucky enough to have a healer in your team stay in their range or tell them you are moving up if they won't come with you. Battle field awareness is key. GL

If your going primal or hammer warrior, its a good idea to go 14 str and 13 (or 14) in hammer/axe, that way your str based bars will be more effective, body blow/bull's/enraging/etc.

having 14 also gives you a +4 adren from Enraging when running hammer bars and lets you pack full Sentinel's with no downfalls. If you run 13 str with Sent's you will lose all the extra armor when your weakened...and people love weakening warriors, so 14 is the safer bet.

+armor > +HP (unless your facing crap like B-spike)

Not sure if other people have suggested it yet but you may want to consider taking in a pvp warrior first. While people have offered you some builds a Pvp warrior allows you to test whatever you like. Find something fun and then make sure to completly upgrade your pve warrior, ever bit counts. It may be expensive, but you said that should not be a problem.

Gl and do not take your RA teams to seriously but do listen to them and learn the tricks of the trade.

Also if blind bots are really pissing you off you can always take a condition removal.

Antidote signet is a fairly good choice for condition removal in RA for a war.
But overall blindbots aren't THAT common in RA, the shitloads of annoying anti-melee in RA comes in the form of hexes like [empathy][Insidious Parasite] and [Faintheartedness] which you can't do anything about especially if you don't have a monk or a decent ranger to rupt them.
Everything above me is all good advice but for starting warrior in RA i'd go with this:
[eviscerate][executioner's strike][disrupting chop][bull's strike][frenzy][enraging charge][rush][resurrection signet]
fairly standard evis bar, once you learn managing your energy and swapping to zealous when needed etc. you can swap [enraging charge] for [shock].
Generally RA won't get you too far, but you'll learn stuff like prioritizing targets, swapping weps and landing most of your bull's, and hopefully figure out that training protted monks all the match is useless, understanding that alone puts you above 90% of the warriors in RA.
And honestly you shouldnt care too much about what RA players think, at the very least you weren't using healing breeze or some other sub-par build like most RA players.

If you're sentimental about swords, the hundred blades build isn't too shabby either, though it lacks in any efficient means of keeping them in range. Cripslash is always a solid choice but swords in general suffer from a lackadaisical deep wound, and thus lack in "kill-threat".

Be wary that in RA you're generally going to have a crap time playing warrior, since there's an abundance of physical shutdown and a lack of people on your side caring whether you're clean or not.

More often than not you're the readiest, most accessible target of degen and armor-ignoring damage, and that's a fact you're going to have to accept :P

If you ever plan on transitioning into organized PVP, though, RA is not the place to be building your fundamentals; it's not about technical play but more about seeing the big picture and being where you need to be when you need to be there.
