WoW! I nailed 1/3/4/6. the other 4 weren't even in my picks. Wonder if I'll *STILL* get 80 points, for the 4th month in a row...

I still don't quite understand how 80 is possible, as the breakpoints are 25 (0/25/50/75/100/125/...) This is the first time I've bothered verifying results, so I'll be back to confirm whether I have 80 or >=125...

wow.
Actually what he is saying is that the gold cape is essentially "tainted" because the players who were part of the 8 man team who won the gold cape in the first place, are no longer in control of said guild. (DF and eF being prime examples, and most of dR has moved on to zero or quit playing).

Simply by just "handing" GeAr the gold cape would further "taint" the image of the gold cape (not that most people care because it is frankly, just a game and anyone who knows GvG knows the 8 people who earned that cape anyway).

You could argue GeAr earned it by getting 2nd place, but who is to say GeAr would have won a match if say rawrs semi-final oppenent [KMD] were to make the finals because rawr wouldn't have been in the position to knock off [KMD]. If I do remember correctly, [KMD] defeated GeAr in the swiss, which gives me no reason to believe that GeAr would win a match in the finals against [KMD] if this match would have taken place.

Fact of the matter is, what happened happened. If you take away rawr's gold cape you either re-do the playoffs (unlikely because you would have to get the 16 teams ready to play them again on a set date and time that works for everyone) or award the cape to no one. Not just simply hand it over to GeAr (And I'm pretty sure someone from GeAr has already said they wouldn't want the cape anyway saying "Oh that would be the best tainted cape ever" sarcastically).

yeah and i agree with all of this, And i dont think Gear would want gold like that
The whole gear for gold thing was really me just being annoying.
As really i dont see what they can do other than Ban people
Not give out the trims =rawr have gold already so they care? zero can just wait till next month
Stop guilds Entering next month = they will smurf
Take away Capes and stop the guilds getting anymore = they will smurf
Ban the people = Most people have more than 1 account so they will play on others
Not give them rewards next month = Oh well let them wait till the months after im sure they will live
So what really will they do?

They wouldn't have, I was quite surprised they even beat so many other guilds tbh, I didn't think they were anything special :|

They seemed pretty nice guys though, so I want to congratulate them on making it this far.

The last guy pretty much hit the nail on the head, there's really not much Anet can do as a punishment, I think the most important thing anyway is to make sure this won't happen again and to finally deal with spike builds ~_~

I mean no offense to GeAr, but if a guild can go from 2-4 in the last 2 monthlies and rank ~200 on the ladder to 2nd place in a monthly and top 20 on the ladder, to me that's a clear indication the build is broken.

I'd blame arena net for having a faulty system and the guilds involved for exploiting it.

don't give them any rp:s +remove capes. Leaving rawr completely trimless would hurt a little at least ^^

The build is strong yes, but I can't blame the build solely for making it so far. When you watch the certain teams they played against, running a hex build vs a team with lots of party healing and expel hexes on the FC snare, only attempting to cast hum sig on average about once a minute isn't going to win you games, when you need hexes to stick to create the pressure. Furthermore when dom mesmers doesn't decide to take a shit on the character(caught stand rit) that helps keeps the team alive at stand and makes up for over 1/3 of the spike dmg you really set yourself up for losing.

Agreed, they actually need to somehow get rid of the draw. How they will achieve this could be bad.

i wouldn't blame it entirely on the build. rawrspike is powerful and does allow some wiggle room for mistakes, but they've been practicing rawrspike for months and finally nailed it. climbing the ladder was not easy for them. from what i saw on obs, aside from KMD, guilds that normally roflstomp gear on the ladder or in daily ATs didn't handle them well or just played very badly - which you can't afford to do against a guild which finally reached the top of their game. gear did play well, but they were also very lucky that those top 100 guilds suddenly started playing like r500 baddies. gear usually can't beat a champ range guild no matter how hard they try. i'm probably going to catch hell for saying so, but its true.

who wouldn't? being core for months and getting benched for the mat was a real dick move on their part. watching a guild you helped build and whom you believed you were tight with win a trim without you is infuriating. but a) this isn't about me and b) it doesn't make what i said any less true

The build's undoubtedly one of the strongest templates out there for dealing with all sorts of builds, but you also have to look at the types of teams that fought them. I mean, trying to 8v8 rawrspike with a balanced build is just stupid. You're not going to pressure them out, and you'll just get spiked out eventually. If you want to 8v8 that, at least run a stronger spike (like rspike, cookiespike, or dervspike from before).

I believe that while everyone pretty much agrees that what they've done is nasty, there's no point in punishing them, and there is no reason to punish them because they didn't cheat.
Blame the flawed mechanism, not those who exploit the flaw -> same thing that I tell to people that QQ about RA syncing, or people that QQ about other people running 'gay' builds. The best lesson anet can take from this is to find a way to make sure that it won't happen again (draw counts as a loss maybe?).
Also, as someone already said, rawr are way past the point where they give a shit about any possible punishment anet can give them. Therefore, such punishment will only mean "look, we did something" and no one will really care. Problem will stay unfixed, and it won't even stop people from doing the same thing in the future, they will just be smarter and pretend that they are fighting, instead of doing /goteam circles and trains.

Actually they did cheat, but that has already been pointed out why countless times on many different forums. Members from the involved parties have even admitted what they did was a violation of the rules (Tommy). But as far as punishment goes I frankly don't care one way or the other. I just want the problem to be fixed so that it doesn't keep happening.

The only punishment they can give to make it so people don't take advantage of this is to account ban everyone involved, which is way too harsh in my opinion. Which is why I honestly don't care if rawr and zero are punished or not. As long as ANET has enough sense to fix the problem then I, and most of the rest of the community, will be pleased.

The problem is fighting a spike build head on off-server is pretty hard, and most of these spike builds have been nerfed over time.

TBH they should just implement a /draw command. IDs are a valid part of any game that can end in a draw state. Just spare us the conga lines on obs.

Hey, this might not be the right place for this, but where are the results for the 1v1 tourny? I can't find them anywhere.

Oh, and I predicted:
1) RR +5
2) What's Going on +0
3) Dangerous and Moving +0
4) Wiping as Intended +0
5) The Bouncers +0
6) Dangerous Pumpkins +2
7) Straight Outta Kama +0
8) Coloring Book +0

So, 7 points (if that's right).
