Default How do I beat Jesusbeamspike/Meowspike?

Hi, I've been playing TA for about 3-4 months now and I finally got my glad 3 after needless grinding by attempting to play balanced (W/R/N/Mo). I win some, I lose a lot, but that's not really the point. Lately I've been running into this build called 'Jesusbomb' or 'Jesusbeam Spike' or something of that nature run by [meow], although I've seen it run by others before. It's just darn hard to beat with the prototypical balance; I've rolled it before running hexway or dual/triple ranger, but I just can never seem to beat it with a standard balance.

Basically the build is this, one A/Mo KD caster, and 2 smiters with RoJ (with either mantra of resolve or disciplined stance). The sin knocks you down 2-3 times in a row while the smiters cast RoJ and follow with signets. With the full spike not even woh will save it. It is very frustrating because they always spike the ranger first; and it can't magebane any of the spike when its on its ass; the war can't KD because the smiters discipline stance their spike and the monk guardians the sin.

Even if I survive the spikes, I just can't pressure through it. 2 RoJ spam kills physical pressure, and it has 2 hex removals and 2 condi removals which makes it impossible for anything to stick. I'm not saying it's impossible to beat, far from that, it's just that with the balance it seems impossible. If anyone has any tips, please share .

Hi there, I am g4 and I have never played this :P

I'd say your best bet would be Diversion/Shame backfire ect ect

eiither on the sin or monks,

if the sin gets diverted/ d shot ect

then i think they would be usless so I think that is your best option

but as I said I have never played against this, so I really have no idea :P

Signet of Judgment is a one second cast, Magebane it. Foul Feast the poison ASAP to cut Signet of Toxic Shock from the spike. Remove Augury before it pops if you can. You'll probably have to preprot Patient into WoH to save the spike. Knock one of the smiters. Just push on them. Make sure your poison spread is good. Vig Spirit helps clean up a lot of coincidental smite damage.

yeah I played these guys twice in TA this evening. I think they are 'Fear the Kitten' [meow] since I ironically played them in gvg yesterday. The first time they were some weird balanceish spike and we beat them pretty easily (with balanced), we faced them later on and they ran this 'meowspike' or whatever and they beat us because we simply just couldn't outpressure them and they eventually spiked out all our sigs.

You could try Shielding Hands, it prots both Dancing Daggers and Ray of Judgment. Beyond that, what Sun Fired Blank said.

I would throw in a shadow step spell, you can easily shadow step out of the AoE.
We went up a meowspike today, just takes some lightning healing for your allies and [[deaths retreat] for me. Other than 1 death, they went down pretty fast with 2 turrents.

I dunno if this the correct sin bar but lets guess on this

First of all spam your Debilitating Shots on the sin, since thoose bars have pretty RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed upp energy.

Stay on this necro pretty much 24/7 keep Removing prots all the time.

IF he decides to spikke and the ranger is allready kd'ed, just let the war Shock/KD/Random Dchop since all the skills goes straight after eachother in order.

Preveil, since the melee pressure wont be as big so keeping upp veil if u can will be good..But i dunno how the smiter pressure is. Foul Feast Poison ASAP, to remove a 100+dmg on the spikke.


If the smiters have Dstance and the ranger isnt getting spikked it should be an easy interrupt on RoJ - since theres not really that much interrupt.

PS; Havent played vs this thou so dunno :>

It's very easy to beat, you can either have your ranger camp the sin, OR RUN SOME PROT. SoA>RoJ+Dancing Daggers. Also, the spike is on a 20s recharge, and it is very easy to figure out who is being hit, since the KD has to come and 2 monks stopping RoD spam all of a sudden and hitting stances should scream, "interupt me."

Honestly, the only reason it even sort of works while having RoJ uninteruptable (since people don't run dom mesmers anymore and 90% of TA rangers can't magebane for shit) is because TA monks are bad enough to not take any prot other than guardian.

SoA indeed, however I hope this doesn't take the lulz out of our build, it's great.

last night we spiked a monk who had balanced stance up because he sat in the spike to cast woh, was fun

if your soo concerend about Kd you could use [skill]Balthazar's Pendulum[/skill]
or [skill]supportive spirit[/skill] like Seraphim said

Or you can bring a skill that will be useful against the majority of teams, like SoA.

Like I said, it's not that difficult to beat. If the spike is on the ranger, then have your warrior shock the sin as soon as he sees SoJ. Assuming your ranger isn't stupid, he will run out of RoJ and live. The monk can also guess who the spike is on and patient+WoH as soon as he sees the smiters start casting. If the spike isn't on the ranger, then the ranger can dshot one of the sins skills and magebane an RoJ.

played it a couple times the other night - it didn't strike me as particularly hard to beat. it would be tough if you were running pnh and didn't have enough disruption on your team i guess.

Seen it, whooped bad twice in a row.

They were running
A/Mo with Deadly and SigOJ
2 RoJ Smiters w/ Guardian
PnH w/ Balanced Stance, prob Bonnetti's as well.

Dont go for PnH, go for one of the smites. Also with enuff dmg the sin can be killed as well. But it all comes down to how good your positioning / bad the enemy's positioning is. This isnt some new roflstomp rawrbuild.

They're stupid if they run guardian on the smiters. Running two signets (we use bane and castigation) allows for some spike capability during the 20s recharge of RoJ/SoJ, not to mention the added bonus of catching a hammer war's first kd. RoD spam kills a lot of pressure, which is nice when you are running 4 squishies. Smite condi/hex cleans up any annoying pressure (not to mention veil+cure on the real monk).

We generally run:
SoJ asscaster bullshit
2 RoJ (RoJ, bane sig, castigation, smite condi, smite hex, RoD, Disc stance, rez sig)
WoH monk with 2 hex removals, balanced, and either disc stance or shield bash

Honestly, the build is pretty bad, but it's fun rolling bad players in under 2 minutes, and beating decent people who aren't paying attention every once in a while.

Third time i fought this spike our ranger completely failed... throwing a dshot right after DD catches entangling if the sin is under deadly... he has to do it right away or else the target gets away from RoJ AOE.

Besides, how is this better than a Shove Spike? you run the h[eternity]ll outta there after casting a 2 second RoJ and a sin CHAIN, come back, and do it again. Sounds like the same thing with more room to get interrupted. and no shaddowstepping on vantageous terrain.
