Autokick players with no activity for 30 seconds and let a person who is waiting replace that player. Autoreplace leavers with a waiter.

Add option for waiters to only join games that are even or have 1 point deficit.

Serves 2 purposes:
1. Teams have much higher chance of getting the full 8 player team.
2. Real leechers who are now forced to make a macro to leech (it moves them every 29 seconds) can be reported and more heavily punished.

I'm guessing the current leechers don't go heavily punished that much because the system or the guy who does the punishing doesn't know if the guy leeched or went for a biobreak.

Anecdote:
Some guy was standing around and someone reported him. I reported him, several others reported him too. More people than normal reported him. He came back with 1 minute left in the game and started calling us noobs, that he had an important phone call and started reporting everybody, including me.

I think the biggest reason is that you need a grind title to get GWAMM.

But yeah, you can get faction much faster by vanquishing.

This is totally the problem with multi-player games. There is no real way to see if someone is trying to game the system or if they had stuff in RL that took precedence over the game and everything in RL should take precedence.

The only real fix for me was to stay out of PvP areas where the issues with players leaving/going afk/botting etc. bothered me so much that I wasn't enjoying the game. I remember when the botting was so bad in RA that I quit playing it for a while. Seems to me like the botters are slowly coming back to, but we will see.

Giving away your hourly ragequit without tangible compensation in return is just stupid. The dishonor system's point allocation needs to be juggled if /report is to be effective.

Titles and zkeys are responsible for almost every botting problem in PvP.

What bothers me the most is that even on a Saturday, an entire team reporting someone will get their attention enough for them to do something within the hour, while dozens of reports on JQ bots over an extended period of time result in a whole lot of nothing. Either the process is automated and therefore really bad, or whoever is manning the support desk only pays attention when the same individual gets reported by more than a few people at a time.

The big problem I find is that nobody bothers reporting the leechers and I even try to tell my team mates they usually just end up telling me to shut up.

I always wait until at least someone else reports before making my own.

Honestly I don't mind the botters. They are better than 50% of the players with their necro life steal spamming skills and they reduce wait times. Luxon botters mean more matches for Kurzick players. It's the click bots (enter but don't move) and the leachers that bother me, but trust me, the problem is infinitely better than it was 2 years ago. Back then you would have 2-6 leachers on your team EVERY match.

I seriously want to know what is ArenaNet's solution in GW2 to take away the absolutely insane amount of botting that's seen in GW1.

If the answer is seriously "Well, botting is just a fact of life in MMOs and we can't do anything about it" or "The players will police themselves with the handy Dishonor system that's so effective in GW1", then their game is broken from the start.

For GW2, I expect part of the solution will be the much bigger maps and random events on it. A bot can prosper in a controlled environment, but if your path can take you through a heavy fight here that's never been there before, it might offer some trouble. Also, the changed nature of skills and game style - I doubt a bot will be able to synnergize with other players.

THREAD REVIVAL

So, today i went Jade Quarry, and being surprised it seemed active.. WITH BOTS OMFG.
95% of each time i entered a battle, 12-15 players were just bots.
But even though this may stir your heart in the way "omg i can never win this"

I will give you a few tips on how too win JQ, even if you are the only real player.
This is how i made a sexy 29 win streak as being the only real player there.

Tip 1 : Go Monk, as monk you're best thing too do is keepin ONE npc (Illusion) alive as he will kill the bots quite swiftly, bring "Make Haste!" too speed up the Juggernauts/Turtles because the Necro and Mesmer bots dont have that.
Just by this tip i managed too get a boatload of wins cause my "team" was able too get points way faster, and ALWAYS had the advantage of one extra point carrier.

Tip 2 : Bodyblocking, bots have scripted pathing and AI behaviours.
Just by Bodyblocking at crucial points you can tank up as Prot monk, or Earth ele easily a bunch of Necro's and thus preventing them too score points, which equals a win.

Tip 3 : Feeling like making a Carnage?, go Wrastler's sin or Air ele as you will decimate the Caster bots really easily, and thus prevent them from capping.

But the true message is, Anet please wake the f*ck up and do something about it.
Because of this is you're attitude towards you're games im not surprised that Tabula Rasa was a FAILURE, and so will GW2 and Wildstar with your current lack of interest and policy.

Sincerly,
Zephyr

Played yesterday and was shocked by the number of N/A bots. Much rather playing FA without bots...

Adding to your second tip: If you have a second team member, try cap all shrines but the oponents ranger shrine at yellow. Body block the bots at the bottom corner of the stairs. The bots won't attack you and just use dash from time to time because all they want is the shrine.

Well there's nothing else to do than keep emailing with IGNs, screens, explain a bit, after a week or 2, do the same email with a longer list if needed. Just be careful not to include leechers (unless you see them all the time), just botters.

That achieves nothing. The support team choose not to either look in to the grievance or they do not act upon it. You may report a blatant bot or serial leecher (or extreme verbal abuser), provide screenshots, times, districts and locations but the incompetent and unwilling staff do zilch. Not only is this unequivocal disrespect for their abiding player base whose experience of the game is marred by these exploiters, it implies that they are liars. I'm not necessarily talking about the present day of palliative care Guild Wars - it was also the case in it's hay day.

Rubbish customer service, weak design and bad business.

Huge regret paying for deluxe GW2 to get ~30 of trying to like it. As a company, they don't deserve it.

someone i know in GW was banned, as someone gave a dirty link to people through her account

her account is banned now, so she has to wait to get it back
dont tell me they dont ban anymore

seems they prefer to keep bots over people who do 1 wrong thing (in this case it wasnt her doing)
thats saying alot from someone still playing GW and liking their first game.... and not caring about bots, as they at least dont scam people and destroy guilds
but since bots dont have much human actions, why not just ban them? (first looking if they actually are bots)

if i could choose between "anet doing their best to ban bots" or "more content bit by bit" i'd choose for nr2..... but if they dont ban bots, let em not ban people for 1 bad thing..... or let people suffer from dishonour only cuz they leave the teams of bots (yes, this happened to an alliance member)

It's because there is a treshold for the amount of reports that have to come in ingame to result in a ban. Often times, syncer or bot teams would report teams that try to kick them etc resulting in bans for the people fighting against syncers and bots. It's stupid, really.

after GW2 came out, an amount of those that found it garbage started to play JQ, some reported the bots by email, and those bots were banned, however around last christmas anet support stopped responding to emailed reports other than with automated replies, the bots returned, and have become epidemic
i've been told that running a bot 24/7 gets botters 100 zkeys a day, i've no idea, but that's the motivation, not titles, well, not faction titles, and mostly they're from guilds like [MATH], [一一一一], [アェメ], [wO] and [G人巾モ] the sorta guilds who's members ran bots in the end days of activity in HA and now sync HA

well, tbh i'm more worried about the goldsellers and scammers through account and the ones with trims
reason is, cuz goldsellers and scammers through account (goldsellers being 1 of them) will ask for your stuff, be it info of your account or reallife, and the trimscammers take over guilds

i'd say: anet, at least go after those if you wont follow the bots, so that people wont lose bigger things than the chance of getting a good or bad team in pvp due to bots
i think its more important to save and protect accounts and guilds, than it is to let people play 1 part of the game better, be it with or without double point weeks

@cantalus dont forget the ones holding house zu heltzer and cavalon (probably more, but those have way too many bots as i've heard and seen)
