Default bonetti's defence and watch yourself on a monk

i was playing today and noticed a monk using the above two skills along with pnh, patient spirit and sig of rejuv.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew the full build/bar and also as a secondary question, what's the trick to getting boneti's defence active cause its a fair ol' bit of adren required.

And a third... how beneficial is watch yourself for a monk? The questions arise because the monk carried us well into TA, from RA and we got quite a few consecutives in TA too (was a korean playa) !

as said above, any char can build up adrenaline by spearing... bonetti's can work pretty well I guess, watch yourselves is sub par Imho, but I guess it can do a fine job in RA where for all you know your team may consist of 3 instagib sins/assacasters that are so popular in there. so any additional armor to these squishy front liners is a blessing, especially when it doesnt burn your own energy.

The thing I don't like about bonettis is you don't get time to build against decent teams... so it's basically a win-more skill.

icedwhitemocha c space is the obvious was hoping there has been some adrenal gain trick i might have missed.

zling your comments about RA are well noted. Watch yourself being for only 2 or 3 attacks does make it weak, thanks to you both.

FoxBat I understand what you mean, decent teams in TA still ran bonetti's and seemed able to get it up (no pun intended aha), but I cannot get to grips with what you meant by "win-more skill", please explain?

I am still trying to fill the other 3 skills slots, in lieu of watch yourself. Can anyone help?

I thought about wary stance, its nrg hvy at 10 but what is the +adre gain on it like? As i thought that could be a trick to power bonetti's? This all stems from the fact that when i monk I am a firm believer in woh+shield bash but just wish to see if a non-woh build can be effective. I did try :

Yeah Divine Boon is just crap and people need to get over it.

Win-more = a skill that's only good when you are already winning. IE you probably don't need it and would be better off with something that helps you come back from losing.

Vs. TA balanced you probably can charge it because their warriors just "lineback all day" but not so vs other teams. Well maybe if you're on a balanced team with a linebacking warrior. Generally this doesn't apply to RA though, you've got just yourself to rely on when 3 guys come your way and you'll never have a chance to charge bonetti's.

[[Bonetti's Defense] is good on a monk because it's energy management as well as 5 seconds of blocking that doesn't require extra attribute spread. However, I would suggest against [["Watch yourself"] on a monk.

For a basic build guideline:

[build prof=Monk/x HealingPrayers=12+1+1 ProtectionPrayers=8+1 DivineFavor=10+1][Word of Healing][Patient Spirit][Guardian][Dismiss Condition][Spotless Mind][Holy Veil][Optional][optional][/build]
- [[Shield Bash]: Better against Sins and an easy defense option, but isn't that great against constant amounts of physical pressure.
- [[Shield Stance]: A good, well rounded defense skill for long amounts of blocking. However, the movement reduction can hurt.
- [[Balanced Stance]: Very useful anti knockdown and anti critical.
- [[Disciplined Stance]: Provides armor as well as blocking, which also helps against unblockable attacks and spells.
- [[Bonetti's Defense]: Energy management as well as 5 seconds of blocking that doesn't require extra attrbute spread.
- [[Return]: to shadowstep to allies and avoid melee.
- [[Dark Escape]: for a great anti-spike as well as IMS.

It's good if you're bad at emanage.

It's main drawback, which is pretty big, is that it ends on skill use.

So, theoretically, you'd use it while getting trained by melee, but still.

ac1inferno I appreciate the copypasta but I am fairly understanding of meta play and key skills, hence i had mentioned my preference to use woh+sb when monking.

Snow bunny, its not even amazing 4 eman, its ability to cover your a$$ in the fire is what i like, but still, will keep trying things, as pnh is so damn powerful but i need to find a strong healing alternative to go with it...got a few thoughts will post them after a lil testin!

if you are Mo/W you should be going 9 into tatics(or 8 if you have that much money. which i dont) to get the armor bonus from your shield anyways. which would give you 9 seconds of blocking. which is alot different from 5.

seems good to me. refill your energy bar especially if you had to use your high energy set. the problem is if you are playing against people that are good they will stop attacking you so you dont refill your energy.

if you can manage filling your adren to use it. seems like its one of the better stances available.

[watch yourself] is garbage though.

also why [dismiss condition] over [mend condition] ?

just because it self targets?

yes, that's it. a Monk that can't remove conditions from himself is a dead Monk once he feels some pressure. Deep Wound, Daze, Weakness and other condition goodies really hurt. and now when even in GvG [peace and harmony] is very dominant teams lack the [restore condition] Monk, making self spammable condition removal even more of a neccessity.
