Default A last ditch effort, if you HA read this.

HI! Being as i play a lot in the mornings and there's usually euros running rampant using smiley faces and running nothing but smiteways, here's a small attempt to provide a greater understanding with the metagame of Heroes Ascent, and possibly encourage a better quality of playing. Hey, don't shoot me down, i'm hopeful.

The majority build ran from 1am-11am EST, euroway:
backbreaker sin
smiter hero
palm strike sin or warrior
sh ele
lc necro
pnh
prot
infuser

After months of the same metagame, you'd expect people to familiarize themselves with the build they unrelentingly play and make proper changes, right? Oh no, don't you be naive like i once was for one second. I'm willing to explain some things often overlooked about this ineffective meta build. I'll limit it to the first 3 maps since groups who are not on vent don't stand a very good chance of winning tactical maps, same goes for groups of people who speak broken english/french/german who are on vent as well.

Smiter hero. Found in every euroway. Read this skill very carefully.
[strength of honor]
Nature's Renewal. Found in every iway. Read this skill very carefully.
[nature's renewal]

Oh my! With Nature's Renewal up, maintaining Strength of Honor on both of your sins will deduct a total of FOUR PIPS of energy degeneration?! How in the world will your hero ever have the energy to execute your micro'd RoJ then?

Okay okay, that's easy. Just take Nature's Renewal down. Let's see, we have one single elementalist in the build, we'll just send them to camp out the ranger and be on spirit control the whole match. No spirits then! Oh, but... if they're blowing all their spells on spirits, that only leaves 2 frontline and an LC to pressure out 4x 96AL targets with our 3 monk backline. What?! WTF IS THIS, IWAY IS UNBEATABLE NERF PLZ ANET ANET ANET.

Hold on a minute, no need to overreact. There's plenty of builds that aren't so one-sided, and won't compromise lack of skill either! You better believe it. There's endless possibilities of builds that are both versatile and can be played by anyone with basic motor skills. Unfortunately, smiteway is not one of them. The baby never likes getting his binky taken away, but us, as humans, must overcome and learn to adapt. Be strong, men!

I'll even help you. Right here and now, is a very simple, versatile, effective build that can be ran by anyone with basic motor skills with no team communication. Given most teams that lack talent and communication (smiley faces like XD don't count as communication, sorry guys) won't ever make it far in HA anyways, at least with this one you won't take 20 minutes to get curbstomped by r3+ iway in underworld!

Player 1: Shattering Assault Sin
[build prof=Assassin/Warrior][Flurry][Golden Fox Strike][Wild Strike][Shattering Assault][Impale][Dash][Critical Eye][Resurrection Signet][/build]
You can 12345 your way to victoly easily with this build. This requires no perception of what's going on around you, and you don't have to watch for guardians or weapons of warding on targets you're spiking. It's unblockable, fast, and removes two enchantments each combo. Be warned, spend some time auto-attacking between combos to regain energy before unleashing your uber combo.

Player 2: Earthshaker Warrior
[build prof=Warrior/Paragon][Magehunter's Smash][Flail][Crushing Blow][Hammer Bash][Bull's Strike][Song of Concentration][Enraging Charge][Resurrection Signet][/build]
A standard earthshaker warrior build. The basic idea here is "knock down target". There's a lot more to effectively playing this build, but that is for another time. One important thing to realize about this build: hammer bash takes away ALL adrenaline, which includes Song of Concentration. If a teammate is about to die and you'll need to get Song up for rez, don't use hammer bash! DON'T EVER USE HAMMER BASH ON KING OF THE HILL/COURTYARD UNLESS YOU HAVE THE ALTAR CAPPED! No, don't worry about timing it correctly, or carefully managing and timing your adrenaline, just don't use it. At all. Don't even worry about it.

Player 3: SH elementalist
[build prof=Elementalist/Ritualist][Savannah Heat][Searing Heat][Teinai's Heat][Rodgort's Invocation][Glyph of Lesser Energy][Weapon of Warding][Fire Attunement][Death Pact Signet][/build]
Once again, a very simple build but i'll break it down. You've got 3 AoE heats -- do not blow them all at once. Instead, time them well and use them to evenly pressure balled up groups of foes. Don't you even dare thinking about using a heat on someone who's kiting around the edge of a map. Use rodgort's on targets with low health or large groups of bunched foes. Use Death Pact only on prot or infuse, unless desperate times call for desperate measures. Weapon of Warding isn't for the +3 health regeneration, nor is it for you to maintain on one backine. Keep an eye on the opposing team's melee, and throw a warding on whoever is getting pressured on a 40/40 resto set. Especially important on spikes.

Vital tip!
If you have Fire Attunement up, and use [glyph of lesser energy] followed by [rodgort's invocation], Your rodgorts will only cost 10 or so energy, but your attunement will reward you with the same energy of the 25 energy cost of rodgort's! This is incredible energy management, which you should familiarize yourself with and get comfortable using.

Let's do the math here real quick:
[fire attunement] So that's 1 energy + 30% of the skill's base cost. When you're casting rodgort's with attunement, 8+1, that's 9 energy back. When you've got a glyph that reduces energy by 15, your rodgort's only winds up costing 10 energy while you're getting 9 back. That's a free rodgort's, dude.

Player 4: LC Necromancer
[build prof=Necromancer/Elementalist][Lingering Curse][Suffering][Rip Enchantment][Well of the Profane][Glyph of Lesser Energy][Grasping Earth][Ward Against Foes][Resurrection Signet][/build]
The main job of this Necro is to hex, strip enchants, and snare. Pretty basic really. AoE hexes on balled up foes, rip enchantments from elementalists/prot monks while your shattering assault sin strips the infuser, and when you're feeling ballsy throw up a profane after someone dies. Always after someone dies on the altar on king of the hill/the courtyard.

Tips for Well of the Profane: Always bring a bloodstained insignia on one piece of amor, and always bring a 40/40 death magic set while casting this. You could even be super cool and bring a 40% halves cast staff with highest possible energy, see what i did there?

Player 5: PD Mesmer
[build prof=Mesmer/Ritualist][Psychic Distraction][Power Drain][Power Leak][Diversion][Shame][Unnatural Signet][Shatter Enchantment][Flesh of My Flesh][/build]
Of all the bars in this build, this is the only one that takes talent and an idea of how the game is played. The beauty of this, is that unnatural signet can single-handedly handle all spirits at no cost, and in very little time without sacrificing that player to solely handle spirits. Awesome huh? If you think this bar is too hard to play effectively, bring a gwen or something, i don't know what to tell you.

Player 5: PnH Monk
[build prof=Monk/Paragon][Peace and Harmony][Heaven's Delight][Deny Hexes][Divine Healing]["Make Haste!"]["Fall Back!"][No Skill][Resurrection Signet][/build]
Here's something you can play around with. Since you have SoC on your warrior, you can do two things here. You can bring SoC on your PnH and bring another utility like shock or grasping earth on the warrior (just obviously a warrior can build up song much faster than a monk), or keep song on the warrior and throw in a prot skill on the PnH such as guardian, aura of stability, you know, the works.

Then you have your standard monk backline of a prot monk and infuse monk. Don't be stupid and bitch at your prot monk for not protting you when you're sitting down camping in a Well of the Profane, either, no matter how tempting it may be it is your own fault for not knowing where to place yourself on the map.

Here's a build that is standard nothing-special bullcrap that you folks who aren't good at the game but want that bambi to go along with your bronze spear can play.

If you're feeling super noble and overwhelmed with inspiration and originality, you can even change up the builds some. Remember -- what i provided here is just a sandbox, as all HA builds you find on wiki are, for you to modify and toy around with at your own discretion.

Hope you've learned a thing or two and now i realized i have just wasted about twenty minutes typing this because whenever i make an effective suggestion in euro groups all i get are incomprehensible smiley faces and total disregard. Oh well, enjoy!

I'm confused what is the point of this thread?

You just put up regular balanced with an SA sin in one of the frontline slots and then a lot of words about people being bad.

Stop playing in euro groups? Make your own pvp guild that way u can run whatever u feel like running in HA. Stop pvping. Start your own groups and advertise what builds u want peeps to run.

Hope this suggestions help ().....

Matter of fact i am winning halls but my guild and the people i play with usually play around 6pm. And there IS a problem with how and what others are running, not just one even, a whole bunch and this is me trying to do exactly what you quoted, provide a better quality.

...and euro pugs are all that's around when i'm up at 7am and there's nothing else to do. Making a pug is retarded because nobody joins. NOBODY. All they know is smiteway/iway antyhing else is peace out, even when i do r9+. Somtimes i'll get one person who doesn't insta leave when they see i'm something other than A/W, but they refuse to get on vent. All they say is some shit like "vent no se va XD XDXD" Why do i feel like i've graced you with a longer response then such a poorly through out post deserves... oh well, you're welcome.

You shot yourself down I think. From reading this I think, great you've narrowed some players down to a continent. A continent of which your population was/is probably at some point, populated by.

I also doubt those "euros" are from England and I doubt they speak good English, especially from your quotes. So perhaps you should write it in , German, French, Spanish and so forth.

Nope.

Why would you expect that?

Aggressive... Offensive. Don't assume I have the same mentality as you.

I have more logic than a dead cockroach, and with that in mind it's not hard for me to work out the types of players that will be playing at that time.

Interesting theory on what talent is.

You seriously got to X rank without friends on at all the times you like to play?

"Stoned Phillips [Bus]: My advice is to just play the game."

Do that. Don't try to "teach" people unless you're advertising yourself as a teacher. Endure the shitty builds. Give the odd help like "get out of profane" but don't force opinions/facts down peoples throats. Unless they are arseholes. I don't think they sound like it, if they are spamming 'XD'. That's a happy smiley xD.

Then you have a personality that is enjoyable to play with. You make friends. Then you don't have to be pugging.

P.S. You wrote Player 5 twice and forgot 7 and 8.

as said before, this is just standard HA balanced with warriors endurance removed for shattering assualt.. how is this a last ditch effort when ppl have run this for months. also you say if the mesmer is too much effort take gwen - at which point the build is basically what you call "smiteway" anyway as the PnH monk will prolly just carry SoH.

i just dont understand what you're trying to achieve here other than a public display of self satisfaction that you arent a smiteway scrub.

meh theres the build anyway tho i like Insp Enchant over the Unnatural sig just cause channeling is fun. ppl use it or stay w/e you want. this isnt news to anyone tho.

Bleh, SA is meh. It's a unblockable combo, agreed. But the Enchant strips, the intire point is SA, is so useless. Oh, nice, you can strip the guardian off a E/Rt... ...Letting it sink... Also, Spirit Bond in IWAY is just one of those skills WAITING to get shattered. Whenever I PD against IWAY, when I got my skills recharged from PD'ing spirits, The first thing I do is simply shatter/rend ele's and shame the monk on a spike.

Weapon of Shadow is one of the bigger culprits here. Pressure comes from Physical Attackers. That's how it's always been. With these eles having a 3 second immunity every 15 seconds, AoE"bombing" will do next to nothing, so you're relying even more on your melee, who have to unload straight away, as trying to do "one big spike" will go to waste if the ele uses Energy Prism.

So training eles with DW and Power Attacks/Prot Striks is the message. That's where Weapon of Shadow comes in. It renders warriors useless for 10 seconds. 1 PnH will definatly help a warrior, but they definatly won't be able to "kill sheit" no more.

(Hence why you see some teams bash away at [t V ] for about 15 minutes.)

No, I'm not saying IWAY should be nerfed. I said I can SEE people having troubles beating it, as IF PLAYED RIGHT, IWAY can be a serious pain in the ass.

but the reality still stands:

If you interrupt spirits/kill them fast, it's nothing more than 4 axe warriors WITHOUT spike damage, only a 25% IAS (33% IMS tough, that's pretty strong), but some interrupts hitting on you.

I've HB monked against Team Vionix (Imo the best IWAY out there) in a 15 minute match with NR/Tranq being up most of the time, and we didn't whipe. (Flawless them -We had a good prot)
It's really not that much pressure if you clean up the DW's and damage straight away.

Soms tips on beating IWAY through skill rather than skills:

-Always cast AFTER the hit of the warrior. After cast/activation times prevents him from "interrupting" anything that way. (They have no 1/2's)
In other words, ANY MONK that got his Patient Spirit/HB dchopped deserves to loose for not knowing the basics.

-Snare Warriors. Both Cripple and Grasping Earth proove to pull miracles... A well timed diversion can disabled PnH (He usually uses it on recharge, he has to keep 4 warriors clean), and even without it, 1 PnH can't even keep 2 warriors clean 24/7.

-Save channeling-casting (The casting of channeling, the most vital skill on your bar against iway) for when there is no warrior chasing you, switch to Inspiration Enchant staff with 40% cast mods and gogo.

Unnatural Signet is a waste. The point of PD is to have an always recharged hard-interrupt. With N/Tranq being somewhat the ONLY THING that might cause a whipe (It's still at the base of monks getting their skills dchopped, as NR makes everything interrupt fodders), it doesn't matter if your mesmer is campin their ranger, you shouldn't die this way.
If you can't die, you can only win. So eventually, you'll score a kill... And again... And again... And then they're out of sigs and you can starting steamrollling em.

Unfortunately the build you then suggested was a modified version of lets call it 'euro balanced' except yours is worse. You talk about defeating IWAY yet bring a gimmicky SA sin that may aswell not be there vs an iway team. Unless you plan on training the PnH off their warriors..

This is the standard PD bar that everyone runs except everyone realised unnatural signet sucked ages ago. Take something less 'one-sided' like a second enchant removal.

Or you could bring 2 copies of SoC so you can still cap if 1 is interrupted and therefore have more holding power.

Maybe you should stop joining unranked pugs when the European player base is asleep or at school and then perhaps you may stop generalising people and coming across as a typical American stereotype.

Agreed on the above,

I think what could actually help is if the effort in this thread was put to showing the latest builds for both HA and GVG. For example, having taken over half a year break (think it was like 7 or 8 months) from the game and I came back quite a few skills had changed.

If there was a page for both GVG and HA showing all the current builds being played, that would have helped. Now I just looked through most of the skills and used my head, but for a new player I think that would be useful. They could see how builds "work" and understand things better.

Maybe there is already such a thing? I don't really visit team quitter anymore, got bored of the senseless garbage (not saying guru is any better, mind you; as this thread clearly shows rofl).

I love how people over analyze, then wind up spewing the same shit like they're teaching me something when i clearly explained exactly that in the original post. OH GURU KIDS, YOU'S SO FUNNAY.

So is this thread made to flame people or what? You don't want criticism, so what do you want? Because I'm sure you wouldn't want to be a hypocrite and over analyze, or try teaching people things.

The majority that replied are actually top 50 GVG'ers that play HA sometimes.

Could be wrong but I think Phe is Scottish (don't quote me), Nimble is from London, and the Netherlands is in Europe.

P.S. Your pseudo-arrogance is cute, remember to go along the road not across.
P.P.S. I don't think that American PVE'rs are replying much. They're busy in FoW making up for the years off lost time from when Europe was dominating favour 23/7.

Oh well, enjoy!
rather than ha'ing in the morning, perhaps taking a course in english composition would be a better use of your time

Obviously fame is more important than an education or job.

I did my good deed for the year! Last night I played with some r5's or so (I think they were that anyway), in a ventless group. I was on my fifth hall win with them, and then we got ganked by amerifags because it was a european group .

Most earthshaker warriors have earthshaker as elite.

I didn't really bother reading the rest.
