I tried Me/E fire nuker, nice with meteor show, but I found energy management a drag, and normally I run 15 in Fire on the Ele. so the drop to 12 is noticeable, so I went back to a fire Ele.

Well... lets see...

I don't do AB all that often, but one time i was playing an MM, and I used blood of the master when I had like 11 minions and I killed myself

My teammates had to fight off the minions after i died xD

Wow I have so many stories of terrible play across the classes. I'll just state some.

Rangers missing MS (when it was 3 seconds), A Ranger going Ursan and wondering why his skills aren't working

Earth Elementalists using Dolyak Sig, Elementalist trying to use MS on a Ranger...

Warriors with Dolyak and Defy Pain/Healing hands, Shock Axe who do not realize Conjure Lightning needs a Shocking mod ("why is my damage so low?")

Assassin with Locust Fury or with no snare

Monk with animate bone minions or a pet

Rits who bring 4-5 spirits into AB

Dervs: stop using Avatar of Balthazar. It sucks.

When I go into AB, I go in there thinking "I want to win", and I make a serious effort to make that come about. That doesn't mean I want to play any sort of higher level, coordinated PvP - I wouldn't enjoy it.

I think the difference lies between personal and collective commitment. As you do, I make efforts towards capping (easy as an Ele shrine capper ) and making sure our counter reaches 500 before the other faction. But collectively, sometimes it's saddening to see people mobbing and fighting (I use the same trick sometimes to buy us some time, when near Monk shrines and when I can hide myself inside a meteor shower), or not following their teams (not always easy in 12v12 where you have to stay around shrines). You can start the game with "please cap, clockwise" or shout "east gate opened", and still won't see the other players contribute to the effort. AB is a lot of fun because of the very varried landscape of gameplay (and I'm saying that as an Ele that dies a lot without good monk support, my self-heal rarely being enough vs players), but it's clearly not as serious a PvP as GvG. (even playing with guildies using vent won't bring you the level of organisation of an 8v8, if the other 8 players screw it you're 4v12!)

IMO you have to go in there expecting at least one other team to suck. AB is not so much 12v12 as 4x3v4x3. But hey, it's still fun. Especially when the enemy assassin ragequits because he can't kill my monk.

i'm guilty of saying this when bored...hehe....said it in one game at the very start...(lost my SS when my PC crashed) several seconds later *player 1* *player 2* and *player 3* have left the game...shame they were all on my team FAIL

also attacking a monk shrine and getting fed up with the preservation / spirit heal rit...then going "wtf why am i taking MS damage?" rit was rt/e with MS and FLARE - 1337ness l0l

also monk with necrotic traversal
war with PBAoE spam build - gogo alem remedy war

'sin QQ at me for running a ranger and d-shotting and savage shotting two successive "spike" chains

---------------------------

reserved placed for the most leet of all - WARRIOR with....patient spirt / healing ribbon / healing touch / heal party / some running skills - his bar didn't even have [mending] < which all good warriors should carry GOD

-------------

also for kicks and giggles I LOVE RUNNING: d/e with cripples and PBAoE and watching people die stupidly fast and seeing all chat explode with flames of nub build - so funny as I just killed them in around 3secs...MWAHAHAHA

It seems like so many of these stories are such tripe... People just putting stuff in to sound cool, i've hardly experienced any of these things...

My fave in AB is haters and QQers... People who moan cos you Crip shot them, or you keep em in KD with a locking hammer war... I love seeing the rants, and also when kiddies in AB start mocking each other, hehehhee... just as funny...

Oh yeah, this one time I beat up a [mending][frenzy] warrior with my [echo][mending][frenzy][healing signet] warrior.... lolzorzor

Sadly yes, you do often need more people on side. Occasionally it seems like our team is running around capping like mad, then the other 2 teams get mesmerised by the invincible opposing earth tank (or some such irritating harmless unity) in the middle of the map.

What's going through their mind?
"Must....resist....futile effort to kill.... IT'S NO GOOD, I must flail wildly at the almighty one. Anyone got any Enchantment removal? No? Oh well, I'll get the better of them .. eventually"

Aye. Right.

Funny thing today. I was running my monk (WoH with pious concentration) almost normally (AB is srs business remember ?) and ... Dunno why, at the rez shrine, there were 2 rangers trying to interrupt me. They were only 2, and my team started to wipe them while i randomly casted my spells ...
Now dont tell me they didnt see pious concentration (which btw didnt drop once ~~) and that they thought it was a good idea to conc shot 4 times at times I was not casting right ?

Anyway, not much later, on the same game, there was that infamous mending + frenzy + heal sig Warrior chasing me ... until he died on the Ele shrine once we capped it. Yeah, sad I wanted my own human pet for the rest of the battle.

(not to mention it's thrilling to hear mesmers shout H4X when they interrupt me while on pious conc)

Oh and there was that necro who prefered to cast insidious + faint on me instead of our War ...

They expect someone to just sit and willingly die to a mob of the opposing faction?

Also, in my own experiences I've had people make fun of me while on my ele for going with a dual attunement build that I've been using for a year, and has never failed to make most players turn and run after a few seconds.

And today someone got angry and whispered me, was playing AB with my warrior. Had a Mesmer do nothing but drain my energy, and when I killed him finally my chat box filled up nicely with a bunch of nerd rage. Guess he didn't see that monk behind me...
