Default Going into the mind of the common AB'er: Funny stuff!

Okay, so today I had:

A Ranger using Broad Head Arrow on me playing a Shock Axe, while calling me and my guild idiots and morons in all chat, saying we were capping the base to be heroic. There was also a B-Surge Elementalist using B-Surge on a Necro instead of me.

Share your stories of bad play and the ability to surpass failure: In AB only!

I had some necro casting blurred vision on me (noone in range so sure he wasn't targeting someone else).
I'm playing a rit.
Ho and it lasted around 5 seconds.

An exceptionally brave Illusionary Weapon dagger mesmer ran up to our team.

We were a 4 man Ranger Spike team camping a shrine.

Far too many to list.

On a side note we were running 3+paragon rspike once in AB, trying to spike down a W/Me with Ether Feast. He was infusing our spikes with it.

While camping the Ele shrine at Grenz, this Kurz nuker comes and has a go at it solo

Me = Daze Sin.

He tried like 6 times, raging on all chat the whole time, before the game was over

Proof of how bad people are at the game.
After spending over a minute running around (me alone) being chased by 4 kurzicks (that as a result, did nothing), I had this whole mob (see radar!) chase me for around 45 seconds before they managed to make the kill.

Meanwhile, our other 11 players did .....absolutely nothing, as the scorechart shows.

EPIC failurure all around.

Well, I must have an all too serious attitude then since every time I see a randumb skill/profession combo in AB I make a small note to my mental ignore list - one less obstacle to worry about while concentrating on what counts.

However, there's another insight to be derived from monking for PUGs (well, that's always a good challenge). As you get a closer look at what people in your team actually do it soon becomes clear that failing at build making is peanuts compared to failing at basic tactics. People don't coordinate their efforts but spread all over the map, ignore capping, get willingly crushed by a mob and in general act like they had the tactical acumen of lemon custard.

It sounds funny until you realize that it's the same way as how politics gets made in democracies ...

Edit: hi Makk, good illustration of my point

Oh yes. I was monking for the Kurzick side once, and the score was something like 498:495. Four Luxons chased me all the way a cap point which they held, so I was holding out against 4 players and 2 NPCs. The thing was, these Luxons were actually the cap team who'd spotted what they thought was an easy kill.

I held out for a couple of minutes, shouting "WE'RE TWO POINTS TO WINNING, GO CAP GUYS" in teamchat - only to see the ENTIRE lot attempt to make a final last stand - versus 8 Luxons, two of which were very happy MMs. We lost.

The other amusing story was this time I got cornered by a Mesmer who thought she could solo me by casting Backfire. There was nobody else in the vicinity - I just cast Cure Hex and started wanding her. She stood there looking a bit puzzled, and then Backfired me again. Since Cure Hex recharges before Backfire, I did exactly the same thing and got her down to 1/2 health. At which point she threw Empathy on me and - yet again, waited for me to die. Instead, she contributed very greatly to my health bar. After THAT tactic failed, she started running - and I chased her down and wanded her to death. My guild was LOLing when I told them.

It makes me chuckle when Elementalists in AB will try to cast Meteor Shower (or any other long-cast spell, usually an AoE) on me, when playing Mesmer, and when they know full well that I have Power Block.

Even after 5 PBlocks they still come back for more...

I get the same results with Concussion Shot. I can feel their hate towards the mouse and keyboard.

Exactly.

So he couldn't do his attack chain.

Makkert how do you get your compass so big? I would love for mine to be that way, it's hard as hell to see anything on it for me...

I have an obsession with d-shotting assassin's lead attacks when they run up to me and spit out their attack chain. I once actually taunted a guy for half the match by following him around, getting him to attack me, and d-shotting every single one of his attack skills.

Let's see... idiots hard-casting Meteor Shower at me while I'm playing an interrupt ranger...

Stupid minion-less MM necros going after me and my brother while we're range spiking...

More to come...
