Actually I would think the opposite would be true.

Squishy characters like rangers, eles, rits, etc... are not made to 'stand there and take it' and if you do stand there and let a warrior, who is freakin' MADE to take it, pound on you mercilessly, you're a moronic noob and deserve to die.

Squishy characters HAVE to play defensively and large part of that is straffing and kiting. Seriously, these people need to go play Runescape where the dumbasses, regardless of class, stand toe-to-toe whacking/cast/ranging and any sort of defensive movement is rewarded with the dreaded noob/noob sauce/nub cake ... whatever.

Trash talk is AB is nothing more than something to be utterly ignored. I take note of important instructions in AB chat, but nothing else.

for purposes in RA it depends what has led up to you running around. if you are doing it just for fun then yes you are a noob. if you have killed their team and they have killed yours and you have higher morale rating on score chart then running is a way to win the match.

I also read in a guide on fighter pilot strategy to never fight where you don't know for certain you will win.

Therefore, a strategic retreat is a perfectly viable tactical move.

People have made fun of me in other games because I avoid combat unless I know I'll win, however, they lost to me (often many times).

Often I will direct my group to retreat from a fight, after a short chase we join a large force of allies, turn, and rapidly destroy our pursuers.

The last man to call me a coward subsequently lost badly in 1v1, despite switching from warrior to a cowardly toxic chill spike necro.

There is some thinking involved in good kiting. Sometimes I see people flee and being chased but then lead the opponents into a friendly shrine.

Sometimes, the best thing is to lead the opponents as far into their area as possible, so when you finally do get killed, they waste even more time getting to your shrines, and your shrines dont get hit by aoe.
Though if you're positive you can survive it, run in circles.
And if you're close to your base run towards the spawn. There's always (ALWAYS) 1 or 2 that fall for it and get killed by the base defender.

And remember to keep your health low-ish so they don't give up chasing you. If you have full health nobody is going to bother to try and finish you off. You have to make them think they can still kill you in a few hits, so it would be a shame to stop chasing you.
You have to consider this sort of thing in AB.
