the main problem i've noticed playing as a kurzick is too many Kurzicks treat AB like it is RA/TA/HA and try to fight other players instead of capping as a team and spiking lone Luxons/fighting Luxons when you have an advantage. far too many Sins think they are invincible and fight mobs, giving free points to the Luxons and hurting their team.
This is true. I don't PUG because half the time the PUG splits apart to run off in three directions. (OK, I'm exaggerating, but it's happened enough times for me to get annoyed.) That doesn't change my stance, though: if you're running head on into a huge mob that can kick your ass with its little finger, that's not the kind of move you want to be making anywhere. (Stalling doesn't count - stalling actually means you've thought about it and think you can hold out for a while.) Giving one side a handicap advantage only means that you'd be encouraging that kind of problem.

"We won, so my tactics of jumping into mobs and ganking people must be working!"

I've been told to STFU after telling people not to run into mobs, so my guess is that some people evidently think it works anyway. =\

Partly because of this thread and partly because I've always wondered about it, I've started my own little statistical analysis of Kurzick win/loss rates, based off the matches in which I myself am (un?)lucky enough to play. I only have data on 13 matches so far, but the preliminary results are interesting.

Of the 13 matches I've played, nine (!) of them have been on Grenz, three on Saltspray, and one on Ancestral Lands. On Grenz at least (I don't have enough matches recorded on the other maps to draw any conclusions), the Kurzicks are 5-4 with an average victory differential of 194.8 points. The Luxons are 4-5 with an average victory differential of 115.25.

Leaving aside the fact that 5-4 isn't a terribly good record on Grenz, nonetheless it's looking like Kurzick victories there are occurring by a wider margin, probably because of the placement of the capture points. The Kurzicks have also recorded one control victory (where they hold all 7 points for a minute) which brought their victory differential up to 194 from 148 after a crushing 500-118 victory on my most recent match.

As I reflect on my AB experience over the years, this makes sense. It seems to me that if the Kurzicks win, they tend to be in control for the entire match, but on the other hand, they're also more likely to blow substantial leads (it's happened twice in my 13 matches) than the Luxons are (hasn't happened yet). Conversely, if they find themselves behind by more than, say, 30 points in the first minute of play, they aren't very likely to catch up. The closer games have tended to favor the Luxons; they're more likely to hold on to a narrow lead to the end than the Kurzicks have been so far. It's looking like a Kurzick lead isn't very reliable unless it's by 60-70+ points throughout the match.

EDIT: And now we've been pushed back to Ancestral. Again. I suspect the server-wide win:loss ratio was much worse for the Kurzick side than what I experienced this afternoon.

^ This, i've seen many a lead slip away because my teammates think the game is won and start trying to mob while i chase after them trying to stop them from dying.

Stalling is a pretty good tactic, I remember nearly losing on ancestrals (I know right?) and our guild team stalling the whole enemy team. Allowing us to turn 380-430 to 500-480.

I'm considering going luxon when/if my guild disbands because they seem to have lesser wait times and not as many bad people.

Also, many of the kurzick wins are due to luxons giving up when they see leechers (hence the big victory margin).

I did a stat like this a while ago, i think i still have the excel file somewhere, anyways it was a survey of 100 games 20 on each map, luxon win rate (when i was playing) came out to around 65% or so.

I lost on Ancestral today by 260 points, which is stunning considering you have to try to lose that badly on that map. I logged 4 more matches on Ancestral today and the Kurzicks are a pitiful 3-2 (but I might not count one of them, since I RQ'd when we fell behind 37-116).
