I'm kind of assuming they have old database backups, and it wouldn't take a disproportional amount of work to put in place a temporary reversion.

Even if that isn't the case, it really shouldn't be a huge effort. There are records of what those skills did at that time, and which have been changed. The bulk of the time it takes to balance skills, the actual decision making, is removed. You are just left with entering the new values in the database and updating it, a process which I can't imagine would take more than a few hours for one person.

They could also use some clever method to limit skill choice to Prophecies only, or they could just do what they did for the Factions/Core only tournament; Disqualify anyone who takes anything else.

It really doesn't sound like a great deal of work. That said, I could be completely wrong. It would at least be nice to know if they have considered the idea.

It wouldn't be admitting that at all. The only people that could recognize it as an admission of incompetence are the ones that already think Anet did screw up. To everyone else it will just seem like a fun nostalgic event.

As I mentioned, they have already held a Factions/Core only tournament. There is precedent set for these kind of limited skill set events.

ya man so we get more people running funky skills like rebirth and light of dwayna..

But it just sucks that the top tier guilds control the meta with observe mode wheter its ha or gvg. nothign wrong with scouting but its pretty funny when u go to an AT and its like.. man its that friggin b-spike guild again aight change up and run something else.

they should do somethign interesting instead of having a set number of skills have like a set amount of skill value persay and each character has a certain max number of skill points they can house. this way u can have a char running some op build but have like 4 skills and we can have like arcane thievery mesmers running around stealing skills for fun

Lol, this guy is hilarious.
Get him some more attention.

Stop trying so hard to think, it doesn't work, and apparently, it overheats your brain.

The funny thing is, I actually partly agree on observer mode.
Of course people would copy things at the exactly same pace, but it'd be more interesting if the skills weren't shown, but instead there were a load of other data and statistics available for viewers.

Not everyone chose to play like Illicit Awakening.

(And of course EviL would get shit stomped by degenerate plays and gimmicks if they came back now, because that is how far down the wrong path the game has gone. You would have to be incredibly naive to think otherwise.)
There's about 10-15 good koreans left in the game, split up amongst different guilds. They've a form of honour that generally stops them guild hopping and such. Some of the EvIL members still play, Winner Winner Chicken Dinner [haha], did really quite well (until the leader got sick and the guild disbanded).

Your comment is a total assumption. It seems quite a common trend these days, for example when two original RenO players, play with six other new Korean players, people will automatically say RenO are bad now.

It's a false argument from false evidence leading to false assumptions.

About observer mode: I think it would be nice to see guilds at lower rank play, so players that are interested in doing quite well competitively, can show games of them playing. Last X Amount of AT's at any rank being at the bottom of the observer, for example.

inb4 competitive is dead.

Did you quote the wrong person? I really don't see the relevance.

The game has indeed changed drastically. Much of it has not been for the better, IMO.

Lucis never really stopped playing. He played for r200 guilds, then got miraculously recruited to iQ, played with them for a couple months, and then went back to r200 guilds. As far as I'm aware, he does still play.

Rayne might log on from time to time, but he certainly doesn't play regularly or competitively.

And Augie just doesn't play.
