I personally cannot stand this skill. In terms of anti-melee, this is easily one of the most overpowered skills if not the most overpowered hands down. It's too cheap, too quick casting, too fast on the recharge, while the effects last too long (compared to the recharge) and are too punishing to melee characters. Taking weakness off yourself every 5 seconds (or taking it off someone else as a Monk) gets annoying fast. And it really doesn't even matter. The skill recharges so fast that by the time weakness is off they can put it right back on you again.

Someone likened it to Defy Pain for casters, but unlike Defy Pain for warriors, Armor of Sanctity still lets you accomplish things on a caster; I'd liken it to a longer lasting Distortion without the energy loss. I can honestly think of only one reason not to run this on a caster, and that reason is because you're a monk and you want to take Balanced instead.

Although they did fix the range of the weakness (it was longer than it was supposed to be), it's still absurdly effective against most forms of melee.

Your thoughts?

Considering your only counter to it being OP was condi removal, which is irrelevant as you noticed with the 5 second recharge, why on earth are you still going to run /W?

I like to run the skill on my monk, but when I play melee the skill annoys me a lot.
They can keep the skill like this for a while tho, It's interesting

I dare say a change like this is overdue. As a whole, while other classes kept receiving buffs, monks have seen nothing but nerfs on some of the most useful skills. All other classes have builds included in the meta that are repetitive, and are meant to be devastating while not requiring much skill. The entire monk profession however, requires attention 100% of the time, and simply cannot keep up with the variety of different builds that are coming up. Even with this new trend of mo/d's, a hammer train or mesmer jail can keep a monk out of the game indefinitely. So while this may be overpowered in areas like RA; TA, HA, and GvG they are less popular for obvious reasons: it just doesn't cut it.

Before the recent skill update i never really used any Earth Prayers skills apart from Aura of Thorns, now i use several of them and think personally that Earth Prayers did need looking at although i do have to admit , it is a very powerful skill now.

I don't have a problem with the skill's effects, I just think 5e, 1/4c, 5r is a little overpowered for it.

That said, I'm an arena shitter so my opinion really shouldn't count in the grand scheme of things.

Because you cannot cast for sh*t if you are getting your ass locked on the ground by hammer wars/lamer sins? Stances can be activated when KD, this stuff cannot, thus, going /W is by no means inferior...

This is essentially the same problem I have with Patient Spirit. Absurd energy cost, cast time and recharge with effects that outclass all of the other similar skills.

This seems like the type of skill that will rape the 4v4 arenas but may not be as strong in GvG? It's a fad to be running it now but I'm hoping that goes away...

I find it worse than shield bash in terms of arena defense. At least with shield bash there was a bit of a mind game on when it was recharged and when they might use it, with this crap it's automatic punishment for hitting someone. I wouldn't compare it to warrior stances through because those don't inflict a penalty on the attacker like AoS and shield bash do.

Due to this buff and a lack of nerfing to the mind blast template it's all the more reason to run mind blast to push through damage. This is from an RA perspective, I'm not sure how AoS is playing out in TA and GvG. I would imagine in TA it's less of a problem because of FF and resilience smiters if anyone still runs those.

(I'm talking about RA here) Balanced stance is really only there for an OH SHI- moment where you see the Warrior swinging his hammer in your face and it's to late for Guardian.

Due to the lack of organized enchant removal in RA, good field awareness and good positioning coupled with Guardian is enough to stop most KD locks. Of course there's always the chance of him getting his full chain through a guardian, but this doesn't happen a lot and really 1 KD isn't game breaking.

/W only really becomes equal to /D now if your field awareness and positioning isn't great, so I will say /W is very viable for newcomers or people just learning to monk. However for someone is very battle aware and has good positioning then /D is definitely superior.

Ench strip,daze,activation time etc.,standard anti caster stuff really.Which is why stances will still be used,because they are stances and if you have a q8 tactics shield you get extra armour too.

or if you don't want that, then ignore the mo/d and kill its teammates instead. let the rangers and casters deal with the monk.

It is quite overpowered, so much so we have been speccing builds with 4-5 copies of it. If you are able to have skills like that for your squishies, who needs anti melee characters like blind bots, snares and the sort.

Stances are still good, but this is just retarded.
