i agree that the other ranger elites are bad, but i can see their reasoning for toning melshot down

on a seperate note, ive given up on anet ever producing another meaningful skill balance.

armour of sanctity is annoying, why not make bsurge 5energy skill and staple it to peoples bars... its like melee hate in a bottle that skill

But, there are still some scraps of good skills lying in the ranger's bar. Hopefully Dshot, Savage Shot, BA, Magebane, Apply Poison, Natural Stride, and Lightning Reflexes will get a nerf next update.
Magebane, Burning Arrow, Crippling Shot, Poison Arrow are all viable Elites, or would be if Melandru's shot didnt outclass them so much.

Rangers really haven't been hit with nerfs that much (apart from turret rangers maybe) so even as a PvEr you really don't have much of a reason to complain, and actually Lightning Reflexes is due for a nerf.

I don't think poison arrow is really in the same league as magebane, melandru's and cripshot...maybe after barbed arrows was changed to easier activation but it still requires you to invest most of your "watching" time with a full activation bow attack.

Also not terribly thrilled with the zealous vow sins that are being played in tombs now, it's absolutely ridiculous how many attack skills they can spam almost instantly. I can't believe after anet buffed a bunch of bad bow attacks to fast attack last year (which led to turret rangers) they had the bright idea to try it again with sins. What's going on at their office meetings? "Oh, hey, remember all that retarded shit we tried last year that failed miserably? Let's try that again because logic dictates if it failed once it will surely work the second time."

They touched the template.

If you mean the skill itself, there's nothing incredibly imbalanced about the Mind Blast skill itself. It's a good skill, and it probably outclasses other skills by just a little bit, but it's not "definitely needs to be nerfed" status. The skill has been around forever, and it's been nerfed quite a bit already since [dR] first began popularizing it, including a Rodgort's recharge nerf and a pretty big change to Flame Djinn's.

It's simply a good template. I'm not saying it's perfectly balanced in all ways, but it's certianly not significantly imbalanced. It's really the added skills on the bar that make it a little over the top.

Poison Arrow belongs in different team builds than Magebane, Melandru's and Cripshot. It's a pretty separate playstyle.

Fast Bow attacks are a lot more dangerous than sin attacks, in my opinion, but we'll see how the update plays out.

Yeah, AoS is ridiculously effective in 4-man arenas, especially randoms. I was doing the Z-Combat quest (RA) today and ran into a group with two Mo/D's on my Dev Hammer warrior. Needless to say, you do zero damage, always. Weakness already reduces your damage by 66%, and add in more damage reduction on top of that, and your ability to spike is shot to hell.

Let's take a look at it. It's a 5 energy, 1/4 cast, and 5 seconds recharge. You get 10 seconds of the effect (8 damage reduction and 7 seconds of weakness at 3 Earth Prayers) guaranteed.

Mending touch can alleviate this, but it's just annoying to have to pop it on recharge to take off weakness.

Also, E/Me MB Distortionists are still way too effective. The lack of a nerf is, well, troubling to say the least.

On AoS: fkin annoying, but at least it can be qknocked/chopped. More than 1 copy is ridiculously hard to deal with though (and it's not that uncommon indeed).

Doesn't mean it's not ridiculously overpowered. I shouldn't be able to tank two PR axe warriors on a mesmer.

it definitly needs toning down... the weakness make its god mode if you can get it off... PR, most dagger builds, devhammer; all do next to nothing, all their damage under AoS is cleaned by vig.
worth noting that while this makes you practically invulnerable to melee... its fairly useless vs casters, but then melee should be much more threatening than casters.

You sir, are dumb. The dev team in charge of balancing GW1 is a new one as Izzy moves onto GW2 balancing. Balance is a delicate issue and requires an amount of knowledge about the games current balance that the Devs just do not have. In order to fully adress what the real issue is behind an OP template, or OP mechanic you have to look at many variables. For instant, the current MB template could be dealt with in several ways, nerf to distorion/ feather foot, nerf to aura of restoration, nerf to immolate, nerf to mind blast, ect ect. The goal is to find the nerf that balances the skill and keeps the template intact in some form or another, this of coarse hardly ever happens. in order to find that skill you have to play the template and many otehr templates alot, you have to see how the nerf effects other builds and how it effects said build in certain situation, to even a mediocre players who plays gw 2-3 hours a day the nerf option is more obvious, but to a dev who might get 1 hour of non serious play time, bc they have things like... a job.. a family, and a life (Bc im pretty sure they dont wana spend their life on the game they work on every day).

To put it more clearly, a moderately decent player could easily balance GW better than the devs, the problem is when u involve players people push their own agendas and slow the process down *cough* balance forums *cough*.

IMO the only thing anet needs to do to balance is get another QA team member and let them do it.
