playing HA the last few hours, seen a few sway teams, lost to all of them, won against everything else, ganked sway out of halls though, but atm all 3 teams competing in halls are running sway and its getting rediculous


why would anet take already OP dagger chains and make them uberfast without attack speed boost, and just in-RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing-sane with them?

oh and smoke trap + temple strike + natures renewal + tranq = makes it hard to prot


your thoughts?

I may have overacted in my OP, it has begun increasingly easy to beat this build, keep the spirits down, wand trappers, and snare/blind/etc the R/As , they dont have much defense outside of the traps

the flaming here was interesting though....

It's horrible to play against.

I have been running a FC PoD, the PoD itself isn't that usefull but it is against balanced. The barbs/rigor/defile are pretty handy and can help your frontline steam their defense.

This build is stupid, can't wait for a fun month (or three by Anets standards) of playing this every single day. Everytime I went into HA, I would be playing against this team. Got pretty sick of it.

If you stop the trappers by wanding them and kill NR, you pretty much win the game.

If it was that simple, people would not lose from it.

Sway always was very powerfull and with the buffed dagger skills they can deal much damage and disruption like before.

Trying to beat this build with normal balanced can be done, but it is hard to kill against 5 100 armor targets and block stances/wardings on all characters.

Stee as much as I would to agree with you, I can't. Maybe against scrub teams this would work but vs a high ranked sway that knows what they are doing and can effectively make pressure they would still be in with a good chance with winning.

Most hexways shouldn't have any trouble beating this as long as you support midliners know how to use defense.

Playing as a balanced vs sway then the spirits definately have to go down and also the traps but that is merely the beggining. Remember they have near infinite energy on their backline so any pressure you make has to be great enough to waste 90e on their prisms.

Basicly HA has proven itself to die even more 0.o. The typical saying ( wich is b/s ), " any good groups can win against this" doesn't even apply with this lame *****.

This is not whether anet is nerfing or buffing skills, this is about the players who are insanly dumb to get into HA and even winning halls with this lame new meta.
And no having a good prot means nothing against this. Nothing ...

1) Killing an Ele isn't as easy as typing: "Kill ele". ANYONE that is experienced in balanced realizes that when facing a GOOD prism, you'll have to first waste a spike to trigger Prism. Then you have to rebuild adrenaline, and HOPE your mesmer shuts down both weapon spells on both eles.
Getting kills isn't impossible, and because of the lack of prots in the build, not that hard, BUT it requires alot of coordination.

2) Doesn't change the fact that Echo Warmongers rapes your mid-and backline, aswell as the fact that they have exhausing assault.

3) Not being able to touch a ranger, in essence, means that once your backline slips (You can't expect flawless play every match, even rawr backline RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs up atleast once a match), you have a more than fair chance of collapsing because you can't backline these R/A's...

4) Wanding traps, again, isn't as obvious as you make it sound. Sure, U CAN have casters wand it, BUT then they won't be casting (1 cast = 1 trap that can get off), they most definatly won't be on every spike (target swapping and spiking takes even longer), and won't pressure effectivly, because they have to wand.


Sway is definatly beatable, just like IWAY. The difference here is that IWAY is a relativly low pressure build, which a balanced can adjust to according to the situation. (Backline, etc)

Sway on the other hand, if played right, has got so much more defence AND offence. 1 R/A can EASILY apply as much pressure as 1.5 or 2 IWAY warriors. The partially AoE combo (Blossom) is something that can't be ignored either in the long run (It's pretty much 80 aoe damage every 3 seconds), aswell as warmongers and again, the fact that the R/A's are untouchable.

Sway takes the most overpowered aspects of each proffesion, and throws in together in build which can only be beat by hard counters.

In others words, if you don't build wars it, it'll beat you. That's the difference between IWAY, thumpway, heroway or other gimmicks. (With heroway still being one of the more OP builds, because of interrupts on 1/4's)


As to: how to fix it?

-Nerf ranger stances. 100 Elemental armor, and a perma 75% block makes them about twice as resilient as a warrior on shield.
-Nerf Warmongers to end after XX hits/interrupts.
-Prism healers still need to go. "Stay alive" skills have NEVER been good for the game (Look at HB monks, TA Monks, look at the Mo/W's in GvG abusing all the warrior stances), and thus neither are they for HA.
-Trappers are an evil just lurking to be used in some degenerative gimmick: Add clause: Whilst using a trap skill, you can't block. to every trap skill. (So they're forced to take secondary /me or /d)

I take offense to you claiming that R/A can output as much damage as 2 IWAY warriors.

But really the new assassin buffs were terrible (just like the class itself *zing*).
